Is this the best and simplest to use bike rack ?

It can be tough to label anything as the "best or simplest" as all of our platform options are amazing, they just sometimes have a feature that works best for certain individuals. Every model has one or two sometimes subtle selling features that can make it the best and simplest option for one person/bike but may not even work with another person/bike.
With that being said the HoldUp Evo is a modern design of a rack they've been using for over well 10 years! Yakima took what was working and made it stronger and more versatile. They added stronger/simpler tilt functions and the HoldUp Evo now Fits 20” to 29” wheel sizes and tires up to 4.8” wide, maximum wheelbase 48".
In my experience the best way to find the best and simplest bike rack would be taking pictures of your bikes and visiting one of our locations. The staff there will be happy to answer any questions you manage to conjure and find the right rack for your situation!

I owned one for about three months. Sold it and replaced it with a Rockymounts Monorail. The Yakima Holdup EVO is an overpriced piece of junk. It’s heavy (not entirely a bad thing), it’s noisy, it’s difficult to move the wheel cradles and support arms (they are very stiff to move), there is NO way this will support a 4.8” tire (unless you remove air from said tires), and Yakima’s customer service is a total joke. Don’t waste $550 like I did. Better options are out there for LESS money !!

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, but hope you are enjoying your new set up. If the rack was purchased from us we will happily deal with their or whoever's customer service on your behalf. While we appreciate and deliver the occasional joke, our customer service is not one.

@@rackattack thanks. It’s all good. Yakima actually replaced the entire rack (instead of the $5.00 part). The Rockymounts has it all over the Yakima for $130 less.

    "Security measure"
    Cable
Nah. It takes 2 seconds to cut a cable with a 5 dollar wire cutter.

Well, it’s a security measure as a theft deterrent to someone walking by, not an impossible to cut bike lock for someone looking to steal expensive bikes. I will say, those cables weren’t designed with all bikes in mind though. The cable does not reach a round to lock on my mountain bike. It can fit through the forks and that’s it. I’d rather not have it rubbing the stanchions on my mtb.

Yeah Id rather have the arm locked onto my tire than an easy to cut cable chafing my 8k bike!
