Ditto and I remember buying this and then travelled to Italia 90 on a 17 carriage train from Paris to Genoa jam packed with us Scots,English and Irish.
Totally agree, it's actually a seriously good track in its own right, add to that the emotions of it being an England song and the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!
I recall it was an NME scribe who said it was the first football song you could carry out of a record shop without self-combusting with embarassment. I love it for the combination of football cliches and a great backing track.
My son was born 5 weeks early this April, so we were in the hospital for a couple of weeks whilst he was gaining weight and growing. I played this song every day, especially those 3am feeds! I still play it to him now he's three months old. He loves the John Barnes rap 😀

What a tune. Amazing melody and passion. Gazza, Barnes, Lineker, Beardsley, Waddle...that was a team full of world-class players. I miss that amazing period in the summer of 1990. Even the Pavarotti theme tune was different class - it’s sends shivers down the spine!!!! Come on England!!!!!!
Three Lions is the terrace song, but this is the best England song of all time. Still get goosebumps listening to this, and that team look at all those world class players.
World Class?? Lol. Iniesta baby. _That's_ World Class. England have alrite/Good players but nothing too great. Thing is, everything seems a bit too much of a song and dance. It's Football; don't try too hard but make things work. Just follow Germany's talent formula
Everyone who jumped around their bedroom to this (and owned a Coca-Cola mini Italia ball) back in 1990 please share the hell out of this video! Let's get it going again for the next generation! I still have the 7" vinyl record! :-D
Brings back some great/happy memories. The hot, sweltering summer of 1990, Italia 90, the skills of Gascoigne, Lineker, Platt et al, and England's narrow/unlucky defeat in The World Cup semis. Also some great music, including this particular number, which spent two weeks at no. 1 in the charts. If only I had access to a time machine, I'd go back to the summer of 1990 right now!
One of my earliest memories was 1990 World Cup. I remember the konica anthem advert always on tele. That’s on TH-cam too. Check it out, probably bring back memories. It was on every advert on that World Cup th-cam.com/video/gqknLvwntgE/w-d-xo.html
Best football song by far because it a) is a genuinely musical tune b) has an epic rap c) builds up to spine tingling nostalgia. England in the semis 2021...!🏴
I'm not even English but this is one awesome football tune when it comes to psyching yourself before a football match, England should have this as their football anthem leading up to every World Cup
Congratulations to the English for what they did with their football, for the way they treat their football and in Qatar, even though I'm Brazilian, I'm rooting for them because it's the championship that I enjoy watching the most! God bless football.
This was the best till 2014 when another great British group, New Model Army topped it with "The beautiful game" (even if the song wasn't done for the national team, but for football in general)
I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter when they released this, I bl**dy love it, it was such an exciting time on so many levels. When my contractions started, I said to my (ex) husband "Oh, I think it's started ..." and he replied "No it hasn't, kick off is in 10 minutes ..." and my little one was born 5 weeks early on 21 June 1990 just before the England vs Egypt match.

One world in motion mate! ⚽
Look forward to playing you lot in the group stage 😉
Lol 🤣
This is a golden oldie. Strong 80s/90s nostalgia, ageless lyrics. Spurring sportsmanship with a great tune.
Best football song ever. This even from a Scot 👌
Me too haha, not scared to admit it
Respect ✊🏻
@@youngspit89 Respect to both Scots.
Respect to both Scots.
@@youngspit89 same here class song
Gonna listen to this all day in preparation
I love the 80s vibe in the song and the 90s youthfulness
The best football song ever . From Ireland
Put Em Under Pressure wasn't bad either. There never will be another World Cup like Italia 90.
Italia 90 songs were unbelievable
Fun fact.
I’m Scottish and I think this the best football song that ever.
Heh, we've got this, you've got a cool National Anthem.
Came here this morning in the hope that a player enforced formation change might not be a unique 1990 event.
Respect to you
English really.
Ditto and I remember buying this and then travelled to Italia 90 on a 17 carriage train from Paris to Genoa jam packed with us Scots,English and Irish.
France have far better soccer songs 😂
Best England football anthem ever, loved this team and the John Barnes rap. Such passion which appears to be missing in todays game
Very true I hope we bring it home day❤❤❤
Still the best football song EVERRRRRRR.
and always will be
Ehud Riven You know it brother. i.imgur.com/3VGmN.gif
Totally agree, it's actually a seriously good track in its own right, add to that the emotions of it being an England song and the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!
this aint a football song. three lions on my chest, i know we cant go wrong
three lions......
The only football song ever written that doesn't suck. Thanks New Order :)
I recall it was an NME scribe who said it was the first football song you could carry out of a record shop without self-combusting with embarassment. I love it for the combination of football cliches and a great backing track.
Three lions
That might be true about a football song, but this is the worst music new order produced.
what about Embrace - World at your Feet?
It’s coming home?
Still the greatest World Cup song.
You know it! 🏴
Listening to this before the England v USA match
Nah, Three Lions holds that title.
WE'RE SINGING FOR ENGLAND im from Australia
@@ellenekanem Negative.
Best footy song ever and takes me back to happier times. Love seeing Gazza looking so young & healthy
My son was born 5 weeks early this April, so we were in the hospital for a couple of weeks whilst he was gaining weight and growing. I played this song every day, especially those 3am feeds! I still play it to him now he's three months old. He loves the John Barnes rap 😀
Absolutely the best football song ever
What a footballer Barnes was in his prime...and what a great song. This song needs to get played more after games!!
Fk Italia 90 was awesome I was 17 year old bk then and it’s still the best World Cup ever ⚽️ who’s watching Dec 2024 ?.
2026 USA 🇺🇸 ⚽️ will soon be here ! C’mon !! England 🏴
Can you name them all in that group shot? Dorigo Dixon Anderson Walker Butcher Platt.....
Definitely Hodge and McMahon
@@borisgulliver4970 Steven, Rocastle, Beardsley, Keith Allen!
@@netweed09 he means the Italia 90 England team which had excellent players.
@@netweed09 You clearly can't read. I was talking about 1990. Lineker, Platt, Gascgoigne, Walker, Waddle, Peter Shilton, Terry Butcher.......
At least this song still sounds original, three lions has been flogged to death
@@netweed09 oh 🤫 and listen to the bloody tune 🙄
Everyone who jumped around their bedroom to this (and owned a Coca-Cola mini Italia ball) back in 1990 please share the hell out of this video! Let's get it going again for the next generation! I still have the 7" vinyl record! :-D
The best football song ever. New order are one of the greatest bands this country has ever produced. John Barnes cool rapping adds to this song.
With World Cup coming up, it's time to lift this up again. The catchiest football song ever made, IMHO.
No question.....!
It's Brazil turn now, you'll have to wait
A summer of *Expressing Yourself*
Best football song by far because it a) is a genuinely musical tune b) has an epic rap c) builds up to spine tingling nostalgia. England in the semis 2021...!🏴
This has got be the best Englands song ever.
As an Irishman it's a belter of a tune.
shane cartin hahaha same here Irish and love this tune
Respect !
Absolutely class tune, up there with Put Em Under Pressure. Real proper music nous behind both with U2 producing our own.
The Dubs should bring out a remake.
'Dubs got the world in motion lalala
Jayo Sherlock to do a few tricks
Up the Dubs 7 in a row 🕺🕺🕺
I'm not even English but this is one awesome football tune when it comes to psyching yourself before a football match, England should have this as their football anthem leading up to every World Cup
I would have thought they would. I am American. And I know times change, but THIS is a masterpiece.
Simply the best football song of all time. No doubt.
The best football anthem ever.
Win or lose, any time of year, this song and vid always makes me smile, best football song ever.
Here after we lost to Italy. So proud of the lads. They made us dream. Bright future and they’ve made being an England fan fun again.
@UCVYwr_KbASneWo7wk9Bc3bg salty af, we accept the loss you fucknut.

Euro 2024? "We want goals!" Best England song (& rap) ever! 🏴🎶✨️
Congratulations to the English for what they did with their football, for the way they treat their football and in Qatar, even though I'm Brazilian, I'm rooting for them because it's the championship that I enjoy watching the most! God bless football.
The best football song of all time. Every time I hear it I fall in love with football and our lads. Come on boys, this time 🏴
Rat boy. Go continue your peedo life
here after england lost to france 💀
@@raiden168 ironically because of a skied penalty
Yes yes yes I agree !
LOL
@@peterkoller8034 Hilary, remember it so well, I was on pre Northern Ireland leave, getting ready for a 4 month tour of Belfast, best World Cup ever, the Italians got it spot on, rock on Nessan Dorma
i remember it being disappointing that we were struggling with a team like egypt. it was meant to be the easiest team in the group i think.
@@paulkeller9018 the start of a very good decade music wise!!!

The greatest England song
England winning to Colombia... perfect moment to watch and listening to this great song!!
By far the best England football song. Good work, New Order.
It really couldn't be better. Superb
What a time to be alive that was. We definitely were E'ing for England.
I’m Texan, but listening to this song I’m English. Killer tune.
Top man 👍
Am scottish and I wish England all the best in the world cup thar song came out when I was 21 and it's still a catchy song although for obvious reasons I don't sing it at my local.
So in short good luck England .
I have a friend in Scotland and in the world cup he went to his local and sung its coming home
