I saw this video on TV when I was 7 years old (I'm 37). For years and years I tried searching for the song with what I had on my memory, with no luck. Until I thought "singing" it to the Google Assistant. And finally I found it! Imagine 30 years searching for a song that touched your heart when you were just 7 years old.

I was 10 when this came out. I had never seen video like this before. I was mesmerized. Stairs to the sky, flying balls, Neil's voice, Kriss Low's futuristic synths, man's choirus, powerfull female vocals, the piano part... Magical song and video. Pure 90's Bliss.

When I was an elementary school girl, my brothers and I listened to this song on my grandfather's cassette, now I'm 22 years old, 4 years ago, we tried to find it. Memory "MV has the Statue of Liberty, heroic melody..." but can't. And 3 days ago, I accidentally heard this melody and I really found it. While it's debatable in the village people's version, this one brings the soviet reference to the forefront, establishing a parallelism between the gays seeking an utopia in california on the onset of the aids pandemic with the collapse of the ussr. To me the choirs always had a marching feel to them so I like to believe it's based on the hymn.

One of my favourite childhood memories is seeing these guys live in London. My dad decided to take me. It was random, random,random....because he loves Beethoven and Wagner...and I spent most of my time listening to Enya....and we both LOVED their show.
