I see a lot of comments about 'older people' not liking anime in general and here AOT in particular. I must be an outlier because I love to watch anime and I'm 68! I watched all of AOT with my son when it came out and waited for each episode with great anticipation and agonized in between seasons because the story is amazing along with superb characters. The twists and turns can boggle the mind and it is a deep as any fiction in existence. I have since watched a wide variety of anime and AOT is one of the best. I much prefer subs to dubs btw as it preserves the emotion of the original voice acting far better. AOT is similar to a lot of good anime in that it starts a bit slow and sometimes confusing but believe me it cranks up to epic level fairly quickly. My current favorite is My Hero Academia, one that I'm certain is familiar to anime fans worldwide. It started slowly but now it is spectacular and I love it. Stick with this one and I think you won't be disappointed. 💯
Can you guys (I mean the people in the comments) PLEASE allow these reactor to REACT!!! They have no background information of this anime and it’s their first time. They are gouging to have questions. Please no spoilers. Please no smart remarks. We all watched it for the first time at some point. Let them do the same.
Watches one episode. "I don't get what's going on." and "It's about people being eaten and having heads ripped off. Why would people like this? " This is my parents' reaction when I try to get them to watch it. I 100% believe that if they just keep watching, they will eventually get hooked. I sincerely hope yall keep uploading these videos so i can see these people go from disliking or misunderstanding the show to being fully engrossed in the story and plot twists.
The key with getting your parents to watch and enjoy anime with you is starting them off with something soft and simple and building up to more gritty darker shows or ones that include fanservice. I started my mom off with MHA and soul eater and that later built to hellsing and ultimate as the first seinens (HxH was mixed in there somewhere but i dont recall if it came before or after) and of course vampire knight to introduce the weirder tropes. Not everything went off without a hitch the first go around (cough vampire knight cough...) but after watching other animes we would loop back to ones we dropped i.e. dorohedoro, devils line, VK, ect. ect. *TLDR if you want your parents to watch AOT with you, watch it with them IN ENGLISH and dont raw dawg heavy series or shows with weird subject matter. Engage them, theorize about what will happen next but dont spoil the show this will help keep interest! overall all you really need to say is "just give it three episodes before you say you hate it"*
There are many great performances in this episode that convey the mother's feelings. She is relieved to be able to let go of her children, but fears that her own death is imminent. So when the children are far enough away from her, she involuntarily murmurs, ‘Don't leave me’. And in the face of death, she does not make eye contact with the children. The children will undoubtedly be looking at her. If she does not remove her gaze from the children, she will die with her eyes on them. She avoids it. There are quite a few adults in Japan who grew up watching anime as children and are still watching anime over the age of 60. There are many animated films in Japan that even adults can enjoy. This story is one of them. Please enjoy it to the end.
Anime was "invented" by Osamu Tezuka back in the 1950s, inspired by early Disney films such as Snow White, which is why their eyes are so big. He felt it made their faces look more expressive. So, anime (which is just short for "animation") is really just Japanese Disney that is often intended for teens and adults. Attack on Titan's not one of my favorites either, but it looks good and it's got some good ideas. It's just a bit convoluted and extremely trauma heavy.
AoT is a 4+ seasons of pretty good narrative and mind-blowing cliffhangers with more than epic 2 hours long ending (i prefer to count specials as one big finale). Ofc very first episode not show you that. First few episodes just setting the tone. Its not gonna be pretty. More than that - further show goes, darker things will get.
Comment section hasn't really been it here. Sorry you guys have had the responses you have. A lot of us really like the show and some people get kind of offended if people think it's anything less than perfect. At any rate, it's a VERY well written story that I hope you all genuinely enjoy. If not, that's ok. Anime isn't for everyone. It's as much of a mystery show as it is any other genre, so having tons of questions is very natural. The entire world is a mystery when you start, and you join the protagonists in learning about the world. So if things feel a bit off or hard to follow, it's expected. All questions will be answered eventually. Enjoy the show, yall!
Exactly. If you feel confused, then you’re paying attention lol. We all felt confused our first watch. But the twists and turns make this show so worth while.
But realistically, you don’t have to like anime to like this show. The show is phenomenal if you know what excellent writing and casting voice characters and everything about it , but yeah, we’ve been pretty rough. Im done here anyway
well, not if they didn't say *"anime looks dumb"* 💀 do you also think that's beyond insult, no? if the one who say it is 70yo people, I can understand, but a person in their 40s or 50s is just sound wrong. my biggest red flag is if they say it just because they hate Japan, for historical reason, or something else, cause IDGAF about that. aside from that, it's fine. appreciating other work is the key of success. if they can't even say "this is good" or "it's not bad", then they'll never be succed in this one.

You guys cannot go into such a beast and expect to understand what is going on in the first episode. It's a story that stretches out over almost 100 episodes, with certain key episodes and story revelations that change the whole show and its context to even this first episode back here. You need to actually pay attention because a lot of things will remain a big mystery and every answer you get will give you even more questions. And if you just don't then you'll completely miss the answers you're getting because you can't even remember what happened before. Like, did you handle live action shows the same way? Something like Game of Thrones for example?
I'm 34 this is easily the most well crafted narrative I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Its like Game of Thrones if the quality maintained throughout the whole show. Easily best series I've ever watched 👍
This anime is fairly unique, as the story deals with very deep themes that most don't even touch. Every scene is chosen with intent and has meaning; there's a ton of small arcs and quite a few major ones that have very interesting meaning behind them. I hope I can watch you guys to the end. I never get tired of seeing people experience this show for the first time.
They don't look to be able to understand, maybe because there's too many people watching together? It's kinda funny watch people reacting to anime for the first time, because they are right, anime is weird, people who never watched an anime before watching it for the first time in their adulthood must be confusing, they don't get the humor or the subtext. I hope they like it.
It caught my attention because they didn't pay attention, the blonde lady (Jill I think it was...) underestimates just because it is a drawing, but there is a long difference between a cartoon for children and one for teenagers/adults. It also caught my attention how they paid more attention to the fact that there were no penises and I think they looked too much at the Colossal Titan's butt. I turn my little eyes towards you e.e. I'll see the next reaction while I clean :D
Ah shit ig now there's another reaction I gotta follow... Btw you should pause and read the "information available for public" pages, they give a lot of info and context about the world and

Yea I know I wanted them to react a certain way, but still how they reacted was pretty fun to me. And thank you for the positive comments they look through these too.
Parents reacting to AOT is such a great idea! But ngl, the first and second reactions are kind of hard to watch considering this isn't their cup of tea and most of them aren't focused. 😅 Reacting in a big group while everyone is trying to discuss/make side comments simultaeneously has a higher chance of being distracted so maybe switching to dub would help more? (Sub is still superior tho haha) Hope they stick to the show!
If all members are reading comments : I guess if you like suspensefull , thriller and deep massage stories , attack on Titan got it all , in start you might feel like it's really a simple story but it's not and animation form might feel diff but try to stick with it , you'll like it for sure , AOT is definitely one of the best I ever watched for reasons (PS: it's music/score is one of my fev of all time , can say it's produced by japnese hans zammer 😂 well both are 🐐 for sure )

I...expected the moms would get at least emotional seeing a boy lose his mom (and a mom part ways forever with her son) but looks like it didn't hit. 🤣 Still gonna watch though! I want to see these people CRYYY and SCREAM with excitement! 🤣 Also the little white subs you put are quite useful since sometimes their voices are muffled and I can't hear what they're saying.
Four of them have seen Ponyo, which is coincidentally the only anime they have watched. But I don't think they will hate this as their first😅 I agree that one punch man is a good starter, too.
Anime community can be quite toxic, likely due to its demographic of teenagers and young adults, so it’s best not to take their negative comments personally.
I'm pretty sure if you make fun of anything that people love you're going to get negative comments. If anything anime fans are soft. Too many weak children. These people seem like the boomers who think AI is real on Facebook.
As someone reactions to this very frequently I would say get a moderator who knows about this show because there's details that not remember easily and a lot commenters think they aren't they are spoiling things or giving hints that they shouldn't be giving. Also don't expect this show to be a family community building type of show necessarily. Doing reactions with commenters with it may prove a bit difficult. s1 p2 14-20 are a bit slow paced so i recommend watching those in batch
Overall I would describe Attack on Titan as a sobering look at the reality of war and repeating cycles of violence and abuse. It’s one of those shows that can really make you question the perspective and narrative we are fed by mainstream media.
I don't know if Studio Gek is the first ones to come up with this sub-genre "haters" of TH-cam reactions -- but regardless I'm guessing this channel was inspired by them? They also started with AoT as their first videos and called themselves "Anime Haters" so I couldn't help to compare you guys.
Getting older audiences to live this MASTERPIECE is GOAT!!! NGL im 39 and this is truly one of the best written/shown stories I've ever read/watched. ...
I'm 55 and watched Speed Racer as a kid but that's as far as I got with it if that counts as anime? If these old farts watched Titans and didn't fall asleep then I may have to give it a try...
I hope you keep them away from any spoilers and explain as little as possible (no explanations at all would be ideal). Only explain things they MUST understand correctly in order to understand future info or when the show expects the viewer to understand something at a specific point. The best part of AOT reactions is them being confused and discussing with each other about what they have just watched and slowly piecing things themselves ONLY through watching the show without any external influences like the comments or searching things up. Truly blind reactions are always the best imo. Way more enjoyable for viewers (at least me) to watch and probably more fun for the reactors to figure out things by themselves instead of constantly being spoonfed information and potential spoilers. I hope they keep an open mind about anime and just watch it without any expectations or preconceived notions about this show or anime in general. When people do something they hate, they tend to not get immersed in what they are doing and try to criticize it without giving it a fair chance. So I hope they stay open-minded and truly immerse themselves with the AOT world and actually pay attention. Not like "pay attention to every detail!" like what a lot of people say but like just pay attention to the show and the story and not get distracted because they don't take anime seriously. Like how people who enjoy shows like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones are seriously invested in them and not watching it as like a background youtube video while they are cleaning or doing chores. What I mean is that I hope they treat watching this show the same way they'd watch other shows or dramas or anything else they enjoy watching and not dismiss it just because it's anime.
well now.. this should be interesting.. :D :D :D LETS GOOOO!!!!!! :D I hope u guys stay together... keep this team.. there are no reactions like u guys soo this should pick up fast... if I might suggest something put in the title that first time/blind watching... people search it that way..

@@svenshrempf brother what
I see a lot of comments about 'older people' not liking anime in general and here AOT in particular.
Honest to god the first time i watched aot I remember cackling at some dark parts. I love that they’re having fun😂
Please pause the videos when it gives information on a still picture. The information is important world building.
5:41 I was waiting for the "Mikasa su casa" joke. It was subtle but perfect
Im done here anyway
well, not if they didn't say *"anime looks dumb"* 💀
do you also think that's beyond insult, no?
if the one who say it is 70yo people, I can understand, but a person in their 40s or 50s is just sound wrong.
my biggest red flag is if they say it just because they hate Japan, for historical reason, or something else, cause IDGAF about that.
aside from that, it's fine.
appreciating other work is the key of success.
if they can't even say "this is good" or "it's not bad", then they'll never be succed in this one.
@@YourAveragePredator TLDR. You need to grow up. They're literally here watching anime and you're finding a reason to hate. I get that you're young but you don't have to act like it.

I showed my dad (around the same age as this panel) Attack on Titan and I asked when he was fully hooked on the show. Without spoiling, he said it was the episode "Warrior" that really got him invested in the show.
That's a spoil
@@tx6723 you only think it's a spoiler because you understand the context behind the episode name.
@@reapimuhs It's not really a spoiler but kind of is because now they'll be anticpating the episode rather than going in "blind." That's of course if they even saw the comment. But like you said, they also dont know the context. And they'll probably forget lol

I tell anyone that’s skeptical about any anime to think of it as watching a book kind of. It really no different except you visually see it. If you enjoy any fictional books then you can definitely enjoy anime. That’s just my opinion. Im definitely sticking around for the 100th time to see you alls reactions.
This is one of my favorite shows ever but the vibe yall provided even though it didnt seem like you really enjoyed it was hilarious. If you do continue just know you will gain so many more questions but everything gets answered. Please give it a chance because yall had me giggling like a loon enough that my toddler asked me to "please shut up mommy"

Another gold recommendation by TH-cam.
"they didn't show it" dad is dark 🤣🤣
You guys cannot go into such a beast and expect to understand what is going on in the first episode. It's a story that stretches out over almost 100 episodes, with certain key episodes and story revelations that change the whole show and its context to even this first episode back here. You need to actually pay attention because a lot of things will remain a big mystery and every answer you get will give you even more questions. And if you just don't then you'll completely miss the answers you're getting because you can't even remember what happened before.
Like, did you handle live action shows the same way? Something like Game of Thrones for example?
Anime isn't for everyone and I'm grateful for that fact.
I'm 34 this is easily the most well crafted narrative I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Its like Game of Thrones if the quality maintained throughout the whole show. Easily best series I've ever watched 👍
just here for the yawn counter 🤣
If you think animes are "dumb"
try to see the animated film titled
"COLORFUL" and "GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES"
Hey, keep asking question thats the whole best part . we didint know eaither when we watch it.
They don't understand. 70+ people what could we expect from them
This anime is fairly unique, as the story deals with very deep themes that most don't even touch.
Bro im 22 now and i use to say anime is just a cartoon until i wactch it i understand why people like it
"Where is the town located, is it Japan?"

"wasnt our favorite show" ....cant claim that until youve watched it whole heartedly til the end
I LOVE you guys so much! You are also why I'm insecure about all of my hobbies and interests. The ideal parental figures.
I'll see the next reaction while I clean :D

how nice of them all to agree to this! im tuned into this reaction 🎉 i hope they continue! (also, i get the passionate comments lol im also a diehard fan but give them some slack hahah)
Yea I know I wanted them to react a certain way, but still how they reacted was pretty fun to me. And thank you for the positive comments they look through these too.
Thanks for the slack. My kids and their friends have pretty good taste and judgement so i know there has to be something to this show.

Having this kind reactions is okay and genuine... What separate Game of Thrones and This was because it was an anime for some no matter how interesting the anime is and its first episode. (sorry if i'm comparing wrong shows LOL)

We need more reactions but with a longer video pls
Hated anime my whole life gave this show a chance and I can admit its the greatest story of any show ive watched in my entire life. You really have to get into the plot before you judge it.
Anime is like beer it’s an acquired taste. Honestly I feel like you guys would enjoy “One Punch Man” a lot more.
Four of them have seen Ponyo, which is coincidentally the only anime they have watched. But I don't think they will hate this as their first😅
I agree that one punch man is a good starter, too.
I watched all the seasons with my mom and she loves the show so much
giving a old head whos new to anime sub is crazy work🤣
Anime community can be quite toxic, likely due to its demographic of teenagers and young adults, so it’s best not to take their negative comments personally.
Doing reactions with commenters with it may prove a bit difficult. s1 p2 14-20 are a bit slow paced so i recommend watching those in batch
maybe you should watch the dubbed version .. the dubbed version is really good too and it'll keep your focus on the story
Overall I would describe Attack on Titan as a sobering look at the reality of war and repeating cycles of violence and abuse. It’s one of those shows that can really make you question the perspective and narrative we are fed by mainstream media.
Switch to English dubbed so that they can understand better if they can't keep up on reading while watching
A minimum level of intelligence is required to enjoy this anime.
great idea to do video reactions with parents, it makes the younger generation curious about their reactions, keep it up......
you should try to geth them each a mic! just a little one but itd help hearing them better! love this!
That is what inspired me to get them to do it. I love those guys. Except they seemed to turn on episode 1 lol which makes sense.
As you guys continue watching the series you guys will see what the anime will be about.
Great comment 👍 I agree and I'll try to delete any spoilers I find cuz they keep reading these comments thanks for being positive bro
