She gets a lot of disrespect and stick from tennis 'fans' for some reason, and I honestly don't see why. She's not arrogant, she's not whiney, she's not nasty to the opponents or crowd. Just because she's better than the likes of Gauff, Svitolina, Jabeur, all the British women, and the other media and fan favourites is no reason to dislike her. I've been a big fan for some time now. She's still young and should hopefully develop into a great of the modern tennis era. How she's prepared for the French Open will likely determine whether she'll hold onto the number one spot. Huge respect for Iga; she proved in this match why she is #1 in the world. It's the best possible response to the AO loss. Not only did she win the title in Doha for the third time in a row, but in the final, she defeated Rybakina, who, so far, appeared as the most serious threat next to Sabalenka. Congratulations also to Rybakina, as thanks to her, this match was so good; far more enjoyable to watch than the last AO final. A great promotion for the entire WTA.

Plus, she had a walkover in the SF against Pliskova (another day off) so she was extremely well-rested coming into this final, while Rybakina was pretty burned out. "The victory belongs to the most tenacious ones" 3 consecutive championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024. It is really an immense accomplishment on the behalf of Iga Swiatek. Particularly, it was an extraordinary title from the professional Polish tennis competitor, demonstrating a far more robust, resolute and intrepid performance from beginning to the end, maintaining her large supremacy and vast superiority against the potent rivals in each appearance. She has entirely gone down in the history as a long-term defending champion in Doha, Qatar and attaining her 18th WTA title. Furthermore, I am confident that Doha will become one of her major WTA tourneys throughout her career. It will be designated as her holy land. Huge congratulations to my favorite female tennis competitor!

In this match, it was obvious that Rybakina thought that the same tactics as in previous matches with Iga would be enough to defeat her, pushing hard to the other side of the net, but it was no longer enough. It is clear that Iga worked hard on this element, so as not to be pushed into defense after strong attacks from her opponents, and she also improved her game at the net.

everything turned Iga way after Elena's shin mini self injury @@IggyAzaleaProMax
Such a huge win for Iga. She finally gets past Elena after falling behind in that first set, she wins her 3rd Doha title in a row and 7th WTA1000 title, and she gains 500 points because last year's event was a 500, so she'll be #1 for a while longer! Great to see Iga jump that psychological hurdle against Elena.
Please it was never psychological rybakina just always played better in those matches, this time iga won, don’t take the credit away from rybakina
Very well said, psychological hurdle.
Rybakina was a little bit exhausted, that is the reason why Iga won today.

@@scout7060 I just like Iga a lot and I think she’s amazing. She’s the best player. I find her game better than other tennis players. She’s also a great ambassador of the game and a great role model. she’s already a 4 time grand slam champion at such a young age. I like rybakina too but I like Iga more. I thought I was allowed to have an opinion about my favourite player. I guess the majesty over here has given his verdict. Sorry my lord for having an opinion.
Great champion 1GA!
Tough match, very close, but is also great player so it is not a surprise that the match was so hard.
But with this win Iga said to her fans and also those who aren't her fans that she can battle Rybakina and can defeat her.

A big mental W for Iga! Down a double break in the first set, faced a set point in the TB, and withstood the barrage from Elena on a fast hard court. All good signs for the champ. Congrats to both 🙌🏾🎉
This is not a fast hard court
This hard court was very slow and high bouncing which suits Iga's game very well.
Fast hard courts are probably only in Australia.

Never in the field of Polish tennis history was so much owed by so many to one and the only - Iga Świątek - great, relentless warrior.

Swiatek, Sabalenka and Rybakina are the WTA's Big 3 with a reason! Swiatek vs. Rybakina is the best rivalry of women tennis, along with Sabalenka vs. Rybakina. Iga is the queen of Doha, congrats for her triumph, but Elena didn't give her an easy time and was great opponent. Can't wait for their next matches in future!

I am really impressed by Iga. What an achievement: 3 times winner in Doha- back to back to back! No-one has done it before ever! But even more so, I am impressed with her incredible resilience, how was she able to turn around this match and win the 1s against a top player like Rybakina, from 1:4 down to a winning tie-break. And she pretty much destroyed Elena in the 2nd set. What a tough match. I don't think they were able to play their best because of the strong winds. I guess Iga adapted better to these conditions. Congrats to Iga and commiserations to Elena. Iga has improved h2h against Elena finally.👍💪👏👏👏

Please take into account that Rybakina won Abu Dhabi last week and has come into Doha with no break, playing 9 matches in 10 days. Iga had not played a match since AO (23 days off). Plus, she had a walkover in the SF against Pliskova (another day off) so she was extremely well-rested coming into this final, while Rybakina was pretty burned out. I'm NOT saying Iga didn't deserve to win, just that Rybakina's fatigue definitely played a part in why she didn't perform better, especially in the 2nd set.

3 consecutive championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
