Some feedback on the video, which otherwise was very good: 1) You need to mention the charging curve, not just the top speed. It makes a huge difference if it can hold 160kw for 30 seconds or 20 minutes. 2) Don't forget to mention whether or not it has battery preconditioning for DC charging.
Charge curve is summed up by the duration it takes to charge from 20 to 80%, as all manufacturers mention now
Come on. All this moaning about the interior and pulling bits that look really well anchored. The interior is aesthetically AMAZING. It looks like the interior designers really enjoyed their work rather than trying to be as bland as possible and minimize everything for cheapness. Not only class-leading but in a class of its own.
I love how it looks on the inside. Honestly, I feel like it has one of the best cockpits out there. The outside isn't outstanding, but then again, few SUVs look good in my opinion. Price is a bit steep, but I would consider buying one used in a few years.
Range is not so impressive when you factor in the huge battery, too many manufacturers are just lazily increasing the battery size rather than focusing on efficiency. I actually like Peugeot and French car design in general but no way would I buy that over at a premium over the Model Y.
There is no way I would fund musk's extremist political agenda under any circumstances !
They had to keep the boxy style of the 3008, they still maxed out efficiency while keeping the shape, it was everything but lazy
And you get more range then the model Y
Yeah, I’d take smaller battery, quick charging and a much lower price than this really. Battery sizes are getting excessive when you could get much more fun and efficiency out of a lighter package.
Tesla and BYD and MG and Polestar are bringing cars that have a lot less weight on superfluous stuff (stellantis = too much focus on complicated design, too less focus on optimization) and focus on real good stuff.
I see Peugeot for example: they complicate a lot the design that when people step in, it’s too confusing! Tesla and polestar for example, have a clean uncomplicated design and a very good engine/battery/software and that is what matters!
They should’ve had a cleaner lighter design to be lighter, cheaper, improve performance, inside space and…why FWD instead of RWD?! It makes the car less agile!
@@ricarmig Yes and no. They had to keep the boxy shape because its a sucessor to the 3008. But if you look at other brands, like alfa romeo, chrysler, dodge, fiat, Leapmotor (if you count it as a stellantis brand) and maserati, all of them have more curvy and aerodynamic designs. Lancia is likely to make less boxy shapes to, stellantis has a lot of brands and a lot of fans. So they can eithout much problems make multiple shapes for whats basicly the same car
It's about time the WLTP method of assessing range was reworked because the figures it provides are becoming meaningless. I am a huge fan of EVs and am on my second one but there is no way on earth that a square box weighing 2t+ with a 98kwh battery underneath it is going to get anywhere near 430 miles at 4.4 miles per kwh. Kia are one of the class leaders in efficiency but the smaller and very efficient Niro gets real world 4m/kwh. This huge blob ain't beating that by 10% - just not happening. It is likely to be 300 miles in winter and no more than 340 in summer.
I agree they could be more pessimistic (more like America's EPA) but as with MPG estimates they can only do so much, too many factors can effect range - driving style, weather, how much weight you are carrying, what tyres you have on the car, etc - it's almost impossible to give anything other than vague "it's probably about X"
It has a modest drag coefficient, a lot of features improve aerodynamics while keeping the boxy shape
Most important is not really that it is super realistic for everybody but that it represents a usual daily driving and that it is repeatable and comparable. For the rest, you have serious reviewers like Bjorn Nyland giving you all the info you will ever need
EPA mile ratings are much more accurate. WLTP is a disgrace.
So... you didn't like the car, then?
Because I honestly haven't seen the review of ANY car in years when the tester "casually tried" to state so many "flaws" and complaints about the car as in this one! I'm amazed that you didn't complain about the level of its tire pressure....
Well, maybe it wasn't very good?
Well if you watch other reviews they say otherwise
If Europe or the UK says it has a 400 mile range then the realistic range is probably 300- 325. No more than a Tesla Model 3.
The range is WLTP, you're mistaking it with real world range. In the real world neither the model 3 nor the model Y do their official ranges either
100 miles more likely.
@@JamesSmith-qs4hx Thats just not true
@@joaquimbarbosa896 And then you can only use between 80 and 20% of the battery, if you want it to last more than 5 years - so 60 miles tops.
@@JamesSmith-qs4hx You guys just make things up. You can go at Max speed, in winter, and use only 60% and it still will give you more then 60 miles
The car has an oficial range for different conditions, the 435 is an average in average conditions. It can do more or less depending on how you drive
But in NO WAY, will the range be reduced to 100 miles
Lastly, you don't need to use only 20-80%, you can charge to 100%. Short frequent charges and charging in not so hot conditions are the priorities if you worry about battery lifespan
Another shallow sloped rear screen without a wiper then, what have car designers got against seeing out of the back of the car?
As far as I remember saloons never had rear wipers. I don’t really understand the complaint. Only cars with relatively vertical rear screens needed them because they got low air circulation (so hatchbacks or station wagons)
They want to force the cameras on us.
435 miles, I don’t think so!😂
I bought new a Peugeot 3008 in 2019. The electric version is unaffordable. I can also go from near empty to full in only 2 minutes by putting a liquid in it called petrol that gives me a range of around 450 Miles
12:50 that’s a pretty nifty bit of rock tunnel going on there
the price is bloody silly
It's OK, at 2 years old, they'll be half that price! 😀
It depends what the leasing cost is. Most who choose a new EV tend to lease it, not buy it. That way, you side-step the depreciation....
Don’t think many will buy one new. Perhaps reviews should include typical leasing costs in that case?
@@sargfowler9603 but will they still be in one piece after two years?
It is. You’re basically paying to cart around a giant battery with you. I’d reckon the smaller battery models will be the sweet spot of the range. With charging speeds like this who needs the range.
Bravo Peugeot a superb car! ❤

Plus it aint hard if you know:
30mph/50kmh... Extrapolate that to an estimated degree.
80mph is 130kmh.
50mph is 80kmh so 160kmh is 100mph.. Someone going 75mph must be 120kmh.
The sloping rear and split grille at the front reminds me of the Pontiac Aztek
I was looking forward to this coming out but the price makes you think maybe I’ll get the model y, but in 1 year it will be £22000 with 10k on the mileage so that’s when I will buy 1.
I wonder how the gear shifter is positioned for rhd version
Maybe a case of style over substance? At these prices, private buyers will not be queuing up. Another informative and detailed review. Well done.
It has more range then the Model Y. 100km more range
I really don't understand you people. Tesla shows a product that for 45k gives you 450km of range. Peugeot gives you a product that for less then 47k gives you 527km of range, arguably better looking, 8 years waranty, chat GPT included in the vehicle, what more do you want???
@@joaquimbarbosa896 exactly. People still praising BYD and you now have this… much better product imo.
@@FGGiskard Its literally one of the best from auto OEM's and one of the few that gets more range for the same price then its Tesla competitor
big monies , for a pretty family suv seen advert at a dealer for early 30 ish k but with petrol engine with a mild hybrid.
Really, good energy! Great, review! Post Scriptum Please, sell Versailles, et al!!
Stellantis also seem quite good at punchy discounts once a car has been on sale a while.
Another excellent review, pointing out the positives and negatives in equal measure. A decent looking car but it appears to have too many flaws. The interior features too many chunky traits and I find the claw day time led lights rather tiresome too. I'd go for the Kia Niro or Tesla Model Y - they seem so much more complete.
How did the claimed range compare to tested one on this model? Would be good to estimate how close they can get to 435m on the long range one.
Really don’t like what they’re done with the front design, the previous gen had a really cool design going (all last gen Peugeots in general) but this “grille” sizing and light configuration is not looking good.
Was excited clicking on the vid but left quite underwhelmed.
I wonder if the screens will keep freezing as they do on my 208. Before setting off I make sure the heating and radio are on reasonable settings because there's a fair chance they'll be stuck later on. That's Peugeot quality for you. Maybe okay for a 17k car but let's hope it doesn't happen at 45-50k
Last year I rented a Seat Arona and on several occasions it's infotainment system decided to shutdown and reboot. A known issue with the latest VW group systems apparently.
Never happened in 3 yrs of ownership of a 2020MY 3008
@@FGGiskard never had an issue either with my 2023 2008.
@@FGGiskard perhaps it's my hairy hands
Nice to see the new platform with the battery and range options. Especially from Stellantis... where all current models appear to have just the one battery option. Range is what everyone has been asking for. As usual Stellantis are believing that their cars are worth more than they really are....
Hum...For the same price as the model Y you get 100km more range my dude...
@joaquimbarbosa896 Try insurance on a Model Y in the UK...!! So far the furthest range Tesla is the new 2024 Model 3 Long Range... Which only gives 295 true not 380 as advertised. So whilst the Peugeot may not be perfect.... it may be £1,000 per year, cheaper to insure. So worth looking at , at least.
I dont get it, people are losing their minds over BYD or Tesla, and this has bigger batteries, better design lets be honest, and you still think they should sell at 30K€? Wth
Right now I think the only EVs I’d buy over Tesla are this one and the ID7 although Id wait for the touring version
@@FGGiskardthis thing costs as much as a premium ICE car, whilst having less complexity due to not having ICE and all auxiliary systems. Please don't start the BATTERIES ARE EXPENSIVE argument, it's not 2011 anymore. This is pure profiteering through discounted future loss of servicing revenue stream recuperation.
5 out of the first 6 comments are scammers. How sad.
For a cramped car like this one I wouldn't want a 400 mile range.
Excellent review as always. Thank you.
You don't have to drive it 400 miles before you stop to rest or whatever......
Excellente vidéo qui démontre que...je ne suis pas prêt pour un véhicule électrique ! Quant à l'offre de moteurs thermiques sur ce 3008, elle est indigente...
Importantly both battery versions are not LFP, right? So it's not recommended to charge to 100% on a daily base.
Specs wise I would go for the model Y.
I'm looking forward to the e 5008 though as it's one of the few 7 seats EVs on the market.
Why would you fully charge for daily use ?
Well, that's true. Doesn't mean you can't though, but spare long trips it's usually not needed.
Why should you consider a different car because of the rear seat when you’re the driver ?
So they're claiming 4.46 miles per kwh for the small battery and 4.44 miles per kwh for the long range. There mustn't be much of a weight penalty for the bigger battery!
I'd love to see someone manage those numbers in the real world but until I do, I just won't believe it.
Weight doesn't have that much impact on consumption. Weight usually has an influence on rolling resistance, but since most EVs use low-rolling resistance tires, at least in summer (and during WLTP testing, which is summer conditions at relatively low average speed), it's understandable that consumption figures aren't that different.
Notably, at highway speeds, where WLTP truly falls short, the difference should be even smaller. This is because aerodynamics become the chief opposing force, which isn't affected by weight.
I love the design of the new 3008 on the outside, honestly believe nothing comes close, was looking at getting one next year but really cannot stand the design of the inside, hate the "buttons" on the wheel hate the display and hate that so much is taken up by the temperature controls, I hate it in my 2008 so much of the screen gets taken up, the left side controls never get used there's no need to have it on both sides. New Skoda kodiaq is looking better and better.
It'll be interesting to see how Stellantis price the Vauxhall/Opel Grandland and the Citroen C5 Aircross?
Hopefully both will be a bit cheaper!
Surprised that this video didn't mention the Renault Scenic E-Tech. If I was in the market for a crossover like this then I would go for the Scenic without question. Mainly due to the starting price of £37,495, £8355 less than the E3008!! Not cheap, but definitely more reasonable than the E3008!
Bigger battery only means you have to wait longer to charge, Tesla Y SR can do 10-80 in 18-19 min I hear.
as per other Peugeot evs suspect there's NO towing possibility for this?? Or do you have different info for this - and what is limit if it is possible to tow anything??
God Stellantis must’ve really screwed up the hotel booking on this press junket. What happened? Cold rolls and breakfast or was the sauna a bit tight?
What is it with the incessant niggling about the climate controls, I set the climate to 21⁰ on auto and never touch it again. If you do need to adjust the temp just use voice control, simples....
Amazing car as expected from such a futuristic and alluring car brand; rivalling the quality of the Germans this is truly next level ❤️🦁
Amazing car as expected from such a futuristic and alluring car brand; rivalling the quality of the Germans this is truly next level 😂😂😂😂 - Give us a toot of whatever it is you're smoking over there.
We've just been awarded PIP for my son and are entitled to a mobility car. The amount of push for me to go electric waa unreal. I've been driving an old 19 year old Zafira for the past 9 years. It's been a workhorse. I don't think electric is for me especially on longer journeys. I can't deal with planning a journey to recharge or whether or not I can turn on the AC or heaters.
Average drivers are being priced and legislated off the road at a time when public transport is getting worse and worse
Brexit and the productivity decline of the UK, together with greater and greater returns to capital over labour. We are getting relatively poorer
We are living the second age or automobiles. 130 year ago, cars were stupidly expensive, unreliable, without range and without many options to refuel.
We are somewhat at the point of curve right after MODEL T was introduced and it was not so popular yet.
The interior looks very modern and fancy, but the front passenger seems to be far away from everything. So when they want to do anything on the infotainment screen, it won't be as easy as it should :(
But I can get the top of the line model in petrol for 37k and about 40k for diesel.
I have had several different models of the 3008 first one from around 2011 .
The one I have now is the hybrid and I will probably be changing brand on the next car.
This is horrible to look at inside.
I’m guessing (-hoping-) there could be a longer and more vertical-backed 5008 version on the way?
Ride not very comfortable and not knowing what the front wheels are doing doesn’t sound very Peugeot, though…
A new 5008 is confirmed
The e-5008 should be coming later this year. As for the ride, every other car journalist I've seen has said it's more comfortable and less sporty than the previous model, so I'd take that review with a grain of salt and go test drive it when it becomes available so you can judge it yourself. It should definitely be softer than a Tesla Model Y, which is what I'm looking for.
I’ll wait for the hybrid to come to the uk
Where does the sparewheel stay?
I get the impression that Evs generally do about 75% of the quoted range !
Drive everywhere at no more than 40mph, and you might get close to it.
Just like a petrol car ..LOL
@@adrianbyron-parker5797Spot on, just substitute range with fuel economy. Trying to get those quoted MPG numbers is actually harder than getting the quoted range, EVs are more forgiving in how you drive them, as long as it's below 50 mph.
A good guide is whatever the WLTP stated range is, take 50 miles off it to get closer to a real world range. So a 400 mile WLTP range car should get you 350 miles pretty comfortably. etc.
And then it may be a touch lower than that in very very cold conditions.
Yes but you can get petrol anywhere whereas with an EV the only way to drive is on the motorway system. Still you can insure with Admiral who'll come to you to give you a top up hopefully not from a diesel fuelled generator.
Absolutely love Peugeots but will never by electric 1.2 PureTech for me
Shame the new 3008 isn't available with a diesel option..
I agree. Late last year I decided to buy a newer car and wanted a diesel. After a fair time looking I found and ex demo 2022 Peugeot 3008GT HDi (2.0L diesel). This was the last of the Peugeot diesels coming to Australia. The 2.0L diesel is a great engine - also got it at a huge discount off new price. I live in Australia so EV's will be a bit of a problem until our infrastructure improves.
Does this new one have AutoHold ?
How easily can the passenger reach the air conditioning controls without distracting the driver?
It has a Cd of 0.28, a 73 kWh battery and it's a recycled ICE chassis. If that gets 400 km let alone 400+ miles, I'll be surprised.
4.4 miles / kWh from a car with a 98kWh battery.
Really ?
That’s a very ambitious claim.
I’ll be impressed if it does more than 300 miles in the real world.
The drag coefficient is surprisingly low, and the motor is very efficient
It's definitely ambitious and probably nonsense.
@@joaquimbarbosa896it would make it Model 3 effecient and looking at other Peugeot group drivetrains it's pure fantasy.
Just reading the comments here, why are people knocking this good looking car?and that long range version is game changing!! the price though??
I bought 3008 hybrid4 to replace my 508 diesel hybrid4 and must say a bit disappointed with overall quality and feel at that premium price. Car is 3 years old and it's sitting for a month now at the garage waiting for spare battery pack. Peugeot diesel cars were brilliant so i think no more peugoet for me.
If it is anything like the 3008 hybrid4 you you will likely get only 100 miles in winter driving!
Put four people in, bags for a weekend away trip, in winter, lights on, heating on, music playing, phones charging, batteries effected by the cold, then report the mileage, in thecreal world, you'd be looking at half that, 50k, give your head a shake
Thank you, thank you, thank you Doug, for NOT calling the front boot by that nauseating 'frunk' Americanism. We've had front boots in 911's and Beetles since long before Musk was even born......... NO Tesla fanboys - he did NOT invent the concept of a front boot (even a Ferrari 308 from the 70's had two boots front and rear!). 👍
Right leg is leaning on the console all the time with it's whole surface, you end up sitting very non-symmetrical where your left leg falls to the left and right leg is blocked by the console. Absolute deal breaker, I encourage everyone to have a go, at least sit for a bit in that car.
Okay, I am heartened to see the option of more range, but disappointed to note that once again - it’s jam tomorrow. By the time this long range option comes out. I would not be surprised if Tesla has beaten it anyway.
The car will launch this year...Tesla doesn't even know when their 25k model will come...
You get more range, waranty and features for the same price. How is the model Y better??
@@joaquimbarbosa896 I suspect Tesla know exactly when their 25k model will arrive, you don't - that is true. One thing the Model Y has is it is actually on sale and you can buy one and it has more range than the Peugeot currently available. And a Frunk. Stuffing a car with batteries is one way to increase range, a very expensive one, but an option. This vehicle has less horsepower with less acceleration and not sure where you think the warranty is better - maybe it depends on the country you are in, because it sure isn't the case where I am. And I had a massive dust up with Peugeot over warranty concerning a 2014 2008 I once owned. Never again. I am afraid the dealerships were truly appalling as well. Maybe things are better now - they could not be any worse. At the moment I am also part of a group action suing Peugeot for their version of dieselgate. I am glad they are working on EVs but don't for one second fool yourself that anything by Stellantis is better than Tesla.
It’s very cramped inside, the Scenic is so much better.
Curious how these will sell @60k Eur. :)))
All looks good until you hear that eye watering price- 50 000 £ and that is not even the long range version. The prices of those EVs are getting really out of hand.
Less then 45k for 527km of range
3008, a fabulous fastback
5008, will be a streamlined SUV
I feel like Peugeot missed an opportunity here. Why wasn’t this called the 4008? And then we can have a more traditionally shaped 3008 like the outgoing generation. They’d essentially be the same car but it would appeal to more buyers. Not everyone wants a coupé-like SUV.
What about AWD version ?
It won't be available until 2025
My goodness how did we drive and cope without touchscreens and why cant you use a mobile phone while driving but faff about on a screen to do most fuctions .
Cool car. But I'd take an ICE version and ignore this electric one.
I prefer boxy design. Not these super curvy cross overs
That's like R1.2 million, in my country once you cross a million, we are talking X5 territory... Peugeot aren't supposed to be in that territory
Its simple, just avoid these first generation BEVs, go hybrid and wait for a meaningful jump in battery tech, weight and price, then things start looking interesting. PS: Model Y has one of the worst rides ive experienced from a new car.
But the quality of a Stellantis product is 💩💩💩
My daughter has a Fiat 500e and she has had no problem quality-wise.
50k is more reasonable today then ever
No electric steering wheel, ajustment or electric seat adjustment. Considering the price
From what i have seen in ev tests....you need to knock off 30% of the makers range stats !!!!
The rear end is hideous. Front not so bad. Don’t like the alloys on the press car. Interior and dash are stunning. Best in clas.
If you go 60km per hour on a flat road with no wind
Not for me thanks. I'll consider electric cars when solid state batteries are the norm in the market.
You didn't mention what the real world range is for this car! I bet its not very good in the real world is it?
So more range by throwing a bigger battery then??? That's a really lazy way to solve the range problem by Stellantis
Manual seat adjustment???!!!
All the EVangelists keep telling us EVs are getting cheaper........... Now we have a £50k Peugeot!
Which isn’t available yet!
Ridiculous amount of money
EV’s aren’t getting cheaper. What you will see in the near future is small EV’s at the 20k mark. I do drive an EV but I’ve managed to stop back from the polarising debates. In many instances a diesel or petrol makes more sense. There are aspects of EV that enjoyable and a benefit. Most likely the future will be mixture of things and EV’s won’t be the EV’s we have now, that’s innovation and progress.
Wait for either the Renault 5 in September or the Tesla Model 2 in 2025 and thank me later.
@@alancobbin that’s where it’s going to go, the 5, 4, Twingo and others.
Over £43,000 minimum for over 2 tonnes of car. What will it be worth when 2 years old, £15,000/£20,000 on a good day
My car will do 1000 miles per charge of 1 AAA battery. About as reliable a milage declaration as the car makers provide.
This or Tucson 2024 facelift?
Looking forward to the enormous frunk!
What the f is under there?
Its getting more difficult to have a smooth ride in an EV due to the massive weight of these behemoths. Trouble is to get the range (don't forget to reduce manufactures figure by 30%) they go and stick in bigger (heavier) batteries. Do we honestly think that thing would last 10 years - its all too flimsy.
Why would I choose this over a Kia Niro EV?
Ok what with a coffee in one hand, phone in the other hand ( because nobody uses blue tooth especially in very expensive cars ) you are really going to struggle with that dashboard 😊
At that price it's a meh from me, good review though.
435 miles what utter bollocks 😂
I was spoiled by the big screen and at the point it's in... shame
This should have become the Dodge Hornet.
You know what @whatcar , why are all these new EV’s are now above the 40k tax bracket!!!
How could a Peugeot and all the other makes now come into the luxury car tax bracket!!
Not only will you have to pay VED from 2025 but you have to pay roughly £390 annually for 5 years!!!
So after 2025 you will be paying over £500 roughly per year if they don’t increase the VED
Good grief! A potential £60k 4WD 3008 - what horrendous depreciation is that going to have?
Its a decemt ev but sadly for the price the competitors are better like the model y and the new scenic.
The Model Y broke sales record at 45k, now lowered to 43k, but has 100km less range. Its an arguably superior product, specially with 8y waranty
It's an ok car
sounds like another manufacturer not quite up to the job, tasty price...
