What brand y-pipe did you use in this video? I installed TSP 1-7/8" headers which went in easy and fit great, but the TSP y-pipe is trash. It doesn't even align exactly right with the collectors. I'm interested in trying a different brand to see if it will fit better.
I'm tempted to get a custom y-pipe made, I'm concerned a non-TSP brand y-pipe may not marry up to my TSP headers correctly. Those SE headers look like they dump out differently than my TSPs.
If I have a short tunnel Mount torque arm, I wouldn't necessarily need to use that catalytic converter bracket that attaches to my Y pipe right? I noticed that you're not using the catalytic converter bracket on your automatic transmission, but it's there and in place, because your using your factory torque arm right? So that being said I don't need to use that bracket if I'm using a different torque arm setup and that bracket is not necessary for me to use?

Bolt ons is a lot of fun and these cars are still very quick because they were way ahead of their time.
@@TWAMotorsports well i was wondering what the HP difference was between the 2 header systems. Since mine is bone stock Ill be able to see what each part does tho not by dyno as im sure i dont have the cash for that but here local for $10 you can run ur car on the 1/8th mile as many times as you want...So I can compare the times if they are open... they close for winter season
@@beachsidebum yeah the track is a better measurement anyway. Should see at least a .4 improvement in quarter mile times.
@@TWAMotorsports Have you ran yours on the 1/8th or 1/4 ? Ive not ran mine yet but my 1995 Triple black auto convertible Trans Am LT1 3:73 (was too much gear it ran out of breath top end, shuda went with 3:42) with only bolt ons and hypertech programmer but no cam ran 8.8's on the 1/8th and 13.8 on 1/4 which was fast back in 1996...Then the LS1 came out and bone stock was running 8.4's on the 1/8th and 13.2 on 1/4 hahaha anyways..what does ur run?
What size wheels on the car?
17x9.5 front. 17x11 rear
@@TWAMotorsports car looks really good man !!!! Was the car lowered in this video by chance?
@@251suzuki thank you. it was
What brand y-pipe did you use in this video? I installed TSP 1-7/8" headers which went in easy and fit great, but the TSP y-pipe is trash. It doesn't even align exactly right with the collectors. I'm interested in trying a different brand to see if it will fit better.
This was the same speed engineering y Pipe. Fitment was pretty good but not perfect
I'm tempted to get a custom y-pipe made, I'm concerned a non-TSP brand y-pipe may not marry up to my TSP headers correctly. Those SE headers look like they dump out differently than my TSPs.
That would probably be best
Goal is to get a lift in my garage. Good job bud.
Thank you. The lift does come in handy.
How did the y pipe fit? Is it still hitting the floor pan?
Y pipe fits great! No hitting 👍
@@TWAMotorsports nice, so for the egr and air did u delete all the hoses and i mean like removed them completely?
@@naranjoceidy that is correct
@@TWAMotorsports nice, I heard texas speed and speed engineering has the same design
@@naranjoceidy not on the y pipe at all. Maybe the headers.
Get some 4 inch tips it would look alot better and fill the gap
I know. Catback will come someday
That's correct.👍
@@TWAMotorsportsok so nothing is going to be holding up the y pipe, the pipe will be fine by itself without the need of the bracket then?
@@newguy1459 yes. Its lighter with no cats.
TWA ok cool. I really appreciate your time and input because you are in a way helping with my project at the same time you are doing yours.
I'll probably be asking you more questions later. Lol. Keep up the good work with your project and your videos. Thanks!
@@newguy1459 thank you. No problem at all. Glad to help 👍
Ik this is 4y ago but if your still here how are the speed engineering headers holding up? Looking to get some for my ws6 but wondering how long they last
They have been removed for turbos but are great headers. Have them on several other garage projects
How long did it take you to do this?
About 3 hours. If I didn't have to grind it would have been 2👍
Where are you from? I have a ws6 wouldn’t mind some help with some things lol.
Southwest Missouri. Email me or dm me on Instagram
Did you have to do a tune??
You really should to benefit completely
What wheel and tire package do you have on your TA
Torque thrust 2

Yea Motorsports that’s a stock cat back? With just headers and a catless y-pipe?
Yes. Stock catback and catless Y-pipe
Do you still have your old headers
No they sold
Looking to put my speed engineering headers on my ls1 trans am soon. I have a scissor lift capable of bringing the car up about 4ft off the ground, and a 4post bendpack avaliable for me to use. which would you use recommend using for a header install?
Either will work fine.
@@TWAMotorsports sounds good I appreciate the reply. Probably will do 4 post then so i dont have to move the car to do the rest of the exhaust. Thanks, and great video 👍
Would you recommend 1 7/8” headers over 1 3/4” ? I just have bolt ons for now.
If you plan to do more down the road 1 7/8. If not 1 3/4
TWA Motorsports okay thanks man I’ll definitely be doing a cam one day
@@prestonrills6136 you're welcome.
@@prestonrills6136 it you just do a cam 1 7/8 is a waste. 1 3/4 will make more power for your application. my dad had a 2017 zl1 and it made more power with 1 3/4 than it did with the 1 7/8's we originally put on it
Ethan Slape thanks for the help
Did you use the speed engineering clamps or different ones? I've heard they are junk
I used all but one and yes they are garbage
@@TWAMotorsports hey man just a follow up. I got SE headers for my car just wondering how much clearance you get with the SE y pipe on a lowered car
@@sbc_jake_9677 it's not the worst I have seen but not the best either. Just have to be careful

TWA Motorsports Would you recommend ceramic coated headers over stainless??
Is the inch & 3/4 easier to install & do You have to cut anything m? I’m not sure if I should get the 1 7/8 or the 1 3/4
1 3/4 does go in easier and no cutting
TWA Motorsports awesome I’ll get those then for speed engineering. & hopefully it doesn’t rattle, I have no muffler on my trans am 😂 soooo it’s going to be loud
Very loud
Will this headers work with 243/799 cylinder heads??
Yes
Hey men did u used arp bolts for the headers ??? Trying to figure out which ones are they ???
Just stock
You can remove the hanger for old factory exhaust, with rubber bushing. (By tunnel brace.) Dead weight. I thought your car was fully tublar. I see now just looks like frame connectors. With a aftermarket k you probably wouldn't have to unbolt knuckle. You should look into a k member upper & lower @ arms and some strange coil overs up front.
It's all tubular suspension now.
what year is the ws6?
2002
You’ve got 23 inch pipes going into one 3 inch pipe. So that is 6 inches of exhaust going into 3 inches of tail pipe. Need to make true duels.
Not a fan of true duals on these cars
Why y pipe?
Because I hate the way true duals fit
@@TWAMotorsports oh ok i got ya, i like H pipes. Had them on my 91 formula
Hmm... My 1 7/8 speed engineering headers fit without taking the steering knuckle off
That would have been nice. There was no way on mine that would have worked. Maybe they changed them a little.
How please how did you get them to fit without taking off the stearin knuckle
I don't know what to tell you. I read on forums that some people had them fit with no problem and some people had to take out the steering knuckle. I guess I got lucky!
@@matthewsprague5510 I would take it off. Makes it way easier.
For how simple it is, I agree with him!^^ makes it easier anyways. Mine slipped without removing the steering knuckle BUT I had to hit a part of the firewall. Maybe that's an alternative to removing the steering knuckle? Maybe not. Oh well. Either way it's an easy job!
Old Skool guys wud take a ball ping hammer and just wack the header a few times and not cut the car. BTW im cripple and if you have any extra used parts you dont need or use and wud let go cheap or free Id take them my ls1 trans am is stock with nothing performance

Nice job. I can't wait to get my Kooks system installed. It will probably sound just as good. Have you been looking around for a turbo kit. I was looking at this setup www.airpowersystems.com/fbody/tt.htm when I originally was thinking about turbo's. I've changed my mind and will be getting a Procharger F1 series supercharger instead. They are less of a headache compared to turbo's. What I like about APS is that they have the turbo set low. So you don't have excessive heat in the engine bay. I don't know how much you paid for the Speed Engineering headers but Texas Speed have a really inexpensive set and when it comes to F-bodies. Those guys are second to none.
transam2002ws6 I thought about procharger but just love the turbo feel and sound. Texas speed was higher than what I paid. F1 will sound awesome though.
@@TWAMotorsports once I'm finishing pushing the 5.7 to its limits. I'll be looking for a LS7 to transplant and slap on the F1.
