My family have been in Wiltshire, England for a year. My son started a veg garden, tomatoes, pumpkins, gem squash and marrow. Omw he had a bumper harvest, the only plant that ended up with the white powdered mildew was the marrow, fortunately soon after he harvested the veg. Nothing nicer than freshly picked veg.
I watch the two of you for shear enjoyment… (often do learn things) - you’re both adorable! Undiagnosed ADD…. Possibly; excited absolutely. You have so much to say and just want to get it out. It’s a gardener thing..ope squirrel 🐿️.
Epson salt on top of the soil around the base of your plants will keep the slugs off plus the plants love it. Especially roses 🌹 it great plant food. Don’t mix it in the soil. The plant takes what it wants for a month or so.
I used copper tape to stop the slugs and snails. But I used chilli powder and cinnamon powder to stop the ants and earwigs getting at my vegetables. Plus I planted marigolds (tagetes) inbetween the veggies which stopped the flies etc. Am loving the chats, as they are a great source of info. 😊
I’ve always surrounded my raised tomato bed with marigolds. They are companions and when the tomatoes look scraggly the flowers are looking gorgeous. I just like watching to hear your triumph and fails too ( with a different accent, my ancestors would have had ). Thanks Most of our garden centres are at “ big box stores” ( ugh ) or are temporarily in car parks.
Love listening to you two! 😂😂 banana tree, live art classes…😂😂😂 I learned this year that ranunculus is extremely hard to grow(did manage some flowers but they all died shortly afterwards) and that if you don’t stake your dahlias they will schlump over everywhere…. Next year I will stake them up!!!😊

So it's a life drawing class and the young man gets his spot and ready to start. And then he hears, as she takes her robe off, " Hello Love " He nearly dies and says " " oh hi mum ". If you haven't seen it you might be able to google it. Every time I saw it I would be in hysterics. Oh and I saw an add for new crocs and if you get them and wear them I'm going to throw up. hello lovely ladies, I was a model for drawing and yes, you don't move! depending on position you stay still for however long you can, then you take a break, stretch a bit, move a bit and go back to EXACTLY same pose it's a touch job but it's incredibly rewarding to see magnificent art that comes from it loved it and I think it's amazing experience (dressed or not)
I’m in California and it’s 10:40 in the morning and it’s already 22 C so I’m getting my deck/patio ready for fall getting some mums, zenias, and some creeping sort of flower don’t remember the name but I have all my fall colors out.

Always like your chats. I live in Ohio USA and when we were little we would pick Queen Anne's Lace and put it in glasses of water with different colors of food coloring and the white flower would turn that color. The story behind it is that Queen Anne would make lace and one time she pricked her finger with the needle and a drop of blood fell onto the lace which is why there is a spot of crimson in the middle of each flower. There are poisonous plants such as poisonous hemlock (do not touch) which look similar, but they do not have hairy stems like QAL.

I propigated my gaura too and it's doing well. I also just divided my perennial salvia that's 3 years old and I got 7 plants out of the 2 I divided. I also transplanted some of my ajuga ground cover that was starting spreading past where I wanted it to. I can't wait to divide my sedum next spring and more of my hostas next spring as well. I love using what I already have to fill in and make more plants. I recently joined my tows garden club and I think it will invigorated me during the late fall and winter!!

This is the first year my tomatoes had blight. Too close together and not enough air circulation between plants. I pulled them out and will plant them in a different bed next year. My yellow corn was a total fail, the cobs are going over the fence for the squirrels and chipmunks. I learned to mark the flowers I want to save the seed heads by writing the colour and flower name on a bit of painters tape and wrap that loosely around the stem.

It's the chlorine in tap water that plants don't like, but if u fill up a bucket and leave it after about 2 hours, the chlorine has gone . So anyone with water barrels do fill from the tap when needed 😊 chlorine doesn't last after a few hours. I've a little bit of grass and borders around and iv seen and read u need to water the grass because the grass will take water from the beds and also the other way around. So when there's a drought the roots will go deeper looking for water and watering the grass helps.
When you were talking about bananas in the tree & being surprised it reminded me of when I was in Morocco a few years ago & we saw goats up in the trees, that was very surprising 😂

We had a huge slug problem here in the states this Spring and Summer too. I was told to put table salt around the base of the plant (not touching the plant) and it will kill the slugs. I did this and it worked!! If you put salt on the slug it kills it right away. Just a thought.....they ate a lot of my plants this year too before I found this solution. :)
I would describe your conversation style as chasing “bright shiny objects” or BSO’s. You are chatting away and suddenly one of you sees a BSO and off you go after a BSO. You just chased after “there’s a bee over there” BSO!

She doesn’t do it on her own channel but she cuts loose with you and then tries to blame you for it. I have 4 daughters and I’ve never met any humans as foul mouthed as the lot of them. They are well educated women with executive jobs (one is the VP of a large home health care company here in Canada. Even so, when they get together the air is blue. I done know why their mother never took them in hand!😉😜
I just found out that tree frogs eat slugs! I researched them because we have a little tree frog living behind a wood sign on the outside of our house. When I read that they eat should, I had the realization that I haven’t been fighting slugs for about a month! And that’s about how long the tree frog has been there. So awesome! I’m not sure if tree frogs live in Ireland but if they do, maybe check into how you can attract them to help with the slugs. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸

I did this and it worked!! If you put salt on the slug it kills it right away. Just a thought.....they ate a lot of my plants this year too before I found this solution. :)

Unfortunately some people don't water properly. Instead of watering the roots they just water everywhere and leave the hose running.

@@Lovelygirliebits that’s why I enjoy the two of you so much. I get a kick out of Catherine thinking of all the things she can take in a “dirty” way. She doesn’t do it on her own channel but she cuts loose with you and then tries to blame you for it. I have 4 daughters and I’ve never met any humans as foul mouthed as the lot of them. They are well educated women with executive jobs (one is the VP of a large home health care company here in Canada. Even so, when they get together the air is blue. I done know why their mother never took them in hand!😉😜

I just found out that tree frogs eat slugs! I researched them because we have a little tree frog living behind a wood sign on the outside of our house. When I read that they eat should, I had the realization that I haven’t been fighting slugs for about a month! And that’s about how long the tree frog has been there. So awesome! I’m not sure if tree frogs live in Ireland but if they do, maybe check into how you can attract them to help with the slugs. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸
