I always have random seeds spilled in the bottom of my seed box. Periodically I throw a handful in a bed that I call my “wonder garden”. I call it that because I throw the random seeds in and wonder what will grow.
I LOVE that idea! I might try that this year and knowing my luck, I’d end up with lovely flowers and random peas and courgettes coming up, but sure that’s part of the fun 😂
I let my pumpkins rot and compost themselves each year and then I get surprised pumpkins. LOL. I enjoy you both. I don't have any garden ladies to giggle with so I live vicariously through you.
This was so much fun. I understand wanting and praying for a simpler life. I hope someday you both are blessed with that dream. God bless and keep you.
I finally have a simple life. I love it. I get to spend my days art journaling, going on walks and working in my garden. I love it. It’s not for everyone though. I have one friend that would go insane without all her adventures. She’s only actually home part of the year. Retirement has been good for me.
Hello from California!🌞 I just found you and Catherine over the weekend and have been enjoying your channels! You ladies got me so inspired, I spent yesterday writing out my garden goal while watching your chity chats, lol!😊 Quick tidbit of info: our seeds do not expire. The seed companies are required to only sell new seeds for the calender year, and that is why there is a date on the seed package. Seeds want to grow!🌱 The thing is, the older a seed is, it has a lower germination rate. Just like you were talking about in this video, just sow extra seeds to give yourself a better chance at germination. People have come across seeds in old envelopes from decades gone by, stuck them in soil and they got plants! 🌿 I hope that was helpful! Im gonna move on to your next video now! Enjoy your day!!❤
I have almost no seeds, so you both look like champion gardeners in my book! Also, if I were rich I’d have a huge greenhouse with work tables and have an attached library with a fireplace to read books and host meetings about crochet, sewing and gardening….. ahhh the dream…..😊
I love your gardening videos. I do want you to enjoy your gardening and not be constantly thinking about what to put on your videos. What I enjoy about the videos is seeing how excited you both are for all the aspects of your gardens.
Ladies, yes I have so many seeds! Mostly veggie seeds that all stare back at me from the box, lol! Enjoy watching you both❤. Your my TH-cam sistahs! Happy planting from Hawaii!🪴🌴
Yes I have a Karen seed box but my husband went wild with the seed catalog pictures. He bought seeds that can't grow in a dry arid climate like Texas and in packages of 100 tomato seeds or 100 cauliflower seeds. My nursery owner wants to buy organic seed from me. ha ha Then he "ordered" 11 tomato plants. All indeterminate and patio or grape varieties. That 3x6 bed was a jungle of vines so yes I laughed when I saw Karen's box. You two are so much fun. Thanks for the video. If you two were rich: Catherine you would have a flow bee hive and David Beckham would be your bee keeper. Karen would have full time staff just to weed the garden. Take care you two and stay warm.
OMG, Karen, you have a healthy love of seeds! 🤣I love how you both get the giggles. You have me laughing with you the whole time. My face hurts! Doing your hobbies to earn income is fantastic because you do what you love. Remember that a typical work week is about 40 hours, so you do not have to be working every minute of the day. Keep track of your hours.
It's so easy for us to just keep working away, especially when doing something you love and before you know it, it's bed time! But we definitely need more balance xx
Oh I so needed this 😂 thank you for your endless exuberance and giggles☺️planning to start some seeds by the end of January. My growing season won't be till the snow is gone 😫 but not going to let that dampen my excitement! I wish the garden centres in my area of Quebec had coffee shops attached to them like you do in the UK. I feel like they're missing out on something. One of my kitties was having the zoomies this morning and she stopped when I started your video. She was watching you intently as you went through the seed packets😻Syd usually only stops to watch when there's a fish keeping video on 🤣 Have a lovely week Karen and Catherine p.s. I think my seed box is bigger than Karen's 😱😱😱
I love that your seed box is bigger than mine! And as for garden centres with coffee shops, they're definitely missing out in Quebec! I think that's what keeps our garden centres going over the colder months!
I did a bee keeping course a few years ago, it was very interesting. In the end I decided it wasn’t for me, it was more involved than I thought & there was nowhere near that could set up a hive or two. I didn’t want to risk setting one up in my garden for two reasons, possible neighbour problems & the fact that you don’t know if your neighbours are using pesticides. Also if you want more garden space & a workshop, try to move heaven & earth to get it while you are young, time passes fast, you’d only need about a third or a half an acre garden to achieve it.
You are both the loveliest flowers in Ireland! Don’t hesitate to show us the front of the seed packet-makes us drool even more. You are both incredibly inspiring💕🌷💕!
“You’re not well, you’re not well!” I guess I’m not either lol I love your seed box Karen! It makes me happy 😊 I only have a little wooden crate but I filled it up. You have given me hope in planting seed. Don’t you just love the pretty packs some come in???
I think a seed buying excursion should be planned. Catherine needs more seeds : D. This is so fun, I need a seed sister! I need to plant all my seeds that fall to the bottom of my seed box too. Don't underestimate your knowledge Karen, you have shared so much!
Really enjoyed the Seed Sisters chat today! The cat cameos were fun too. I usually grow vegetables at the back of the house with perennials in beds along the side and front. After watching you two last year I started flower seeds in pots and stuck them along the sidewalk to the house. Thanks for the inspiration. Laurie
Gosh yay. Just sown basil, growing on the window sill. I made miniature envelopes 1 inch square for my seeds to reduce space so I could fit them in a small Perspex container I had. Brings out our inner-librarian, fun to do, and practical, hard for mice to raid.
what a giggle you girls lift my day good idea to share the seeds and plans of action for the coming year nothing better than sharing what you love. Your plant looks like a runner bean but i may be wrong I'm not a gardener Thanks for sharing girls
Love that “ seed sisters “. Thankfully our local libraries have seeds too (& I have a family in). I donate all my excess sweet peas, money plants, marigolds and veg I can go to seed. If you dead head you can have so many.
I got my box of seeds out with you girls and wrote down everything i have so i stop buying multiples. I too have a huge box that just keeps growing and I live in an apartment and can only container garden. It is my happiness. Love your seed swap ideas. Cant wait to see everything popping up. 🌻🌹🏵
Thank you for this! I am new to your channel came over from Dainty after watching you help her with her greenhouse. I have not laughed so much in ages, what a tonic you girls are together. As for the seeds, I know what you mean, you see a packet with like a million seeds and you think how many plants you could grow and how much money you would save on buying plants already grown! The pictures on the front are soooo lovely too! and wild thoughts of that beauty growing in your own garden for just a couple of squids! I have stopped myself from looking at them now, I dont have a green house but I do have a conservatory but I usually end up with so many plants they take over. I am hoping to move this year, so goodness knows what I will be like with a new garden to play with!
You girls, when you get together and start giggling you set me off, by the time the video ends I've got tears running down my face 🤣🤣🤣 I'm always cheered up after watching you, you should be on prescription 😂😂😂 keep up the good work 😘
Organizing by month is exactly what indid for this year. It doesn't feel so overwhelming. I've started my wintersowing and if I dint see any activity by mid February I will sow the seeds again. I think that will also help me narrow down exactly when I can start. Mid March for me is always the time I can guarantee start seed sowing but now that I have a cloch maybe I can start sooner!!! I hope your leg heals soon! and as for that sound of the seeds, I love it! I was looking at strawflowers over the weekend.... Maybe this is a sign I need to get some!
Happy New Year my love. Iv enjoyed watching your seed swaps. When I was younger I worked for Sutton Seeds and loved it. I worked in the office but I did overtime in the seed packing department . That was watching and putting seeds into packets machinery. You can still use out of date seeds. Catch you next time xx
Thanks for the motivational chat. I have two raised wildflower beds that needed to be cleaned upon and reseeded. Ive been putting it off and putting it off. But no more! Now it’s done! 🎉
I'm as bad as Karen or maybe worse. I have six full seed boxes and last year I hardly bought any!! It's truly an addiction. Time to have a good sort out. Love the videos with you two, you make me laugh xx
During swarming season you can ( if you know how) capture a swarm of honey bees. Few years back a swarm arrived in our garden, I rang our local beekeepers association who told us to not disturb the swarm, and let them settle for the night. Early in the morning, they came with a hive moved the queen inside and took the swarm away. Bees are beutiful
Love your chats and could watch you all the time, but I know you need time to enjoy yourselves and not feel pressured to do them. I have lots and lots of seeds as well -- it's hard to control the urge to buy especially when you grow veg and flowers. Wish I could join the seed swap cause I could help fill up Catherine's box.
I agree that some times using your hobby for income makes it not as fun. I currently use my sewing hobby to make things for charity. It gives me a chance to make things I would not use myself. Hope your winter is going well. Mine has me quilting in a sunny spot and sewing bright colored items.
I had great tomato harvest from my 4 plants on my balcony, but because it was such drich summer last year it took till August for them to start ripening, and some had rather tough skin. Will grow tomatoes again and some peas, and my strawberries hopefully will survive the cold weather 🤞🫶
you girls crack me up lol karen my seed boxes yes boxes are just like yours don't get me started on tomatoes can't wait for your next vlog i have banned myself from buying any more this year apart from my onion set and seed potatoes 🤞😉
Actually I have 2 that are slightly bigger than Karen's 😢 but I haven't got to garden for a few years because my health went flew. I use to grown and sell plants and I hope to do it again. I grew annuals, perennial, and biannual, culinary and medicinal herbs, flowers, fruits, and vegetables. I love watching you two together!!!
You two are the best! I have many seeds as well - may I come over? I bring coffee and cake. 😅Tomatoes in pots are great, that´s what I always do. So I can shelter them from rain.
I watched the whole thing again last night ... I haven't laughed that much since Catherine dressed up like Bob Ross! You were talking about how often to film your chats, that every month was too frequent ... maybe you could do a seasonal chat every 3 months - winter, spring, summer, autumn ... and talk about what's going on in the garden during that season?
I needed a good laugh! Thank you! Just a thought, maybe you two could get together once at the start of a new season and go over plans for that season and if there’s any other adventures to be had? Thank you again for your time! jd
@@Lovelygirliebits thats a bummer . Its going to be interesting to see what it grows into . I just sat a looked at my seedlings . Its so hot here at the moment everything is dying
Yes, keep a hobby that's doesn't become work. When I retired several years back, my husband suggested I get a job at the garden center. I told him that that would take all the fun out of gardening. I think you are rich Catherine. Just Maybe not with money,❤
Many years ago when I was at the beach, there were millions of little foil packets washed up on the tideline. I took several packets home and planted them, hoping for some lovely assorted flowers. Not a flower to be had….all were beetroot! 😆😆
I had so many seeds, I went to Dollar Tree and bought little containers to consolidate all the packages that were alike. I have an illness, ha. Im afraid I have to buy multiple bags incase they dont come up. Have fun. 🌲🌺🌲
Locally grown and harvested honey will help with allergies if u have any. Add to tea or toast daily. It helps me a ton with mine! It also helps cats and dogs with their skin allergies or other allergies as well. Our vet has us give our three dogs (see profile pic) a tsp of locally harvested honey in their breakfasts daily. Our dogs r quite large tho so I wouldn’t give a cat or small dog a tsp - more like 1/8-1/4 tsp in their food daily. It’s important that it’s locally harvested tho bc the bees r pollinating the local flowers in ur area. We get ours from a local health food store that stocks the honey from a local bee keeper.
Great video! I’m pleased to see its not just me who buys more seeds than I have room for. I’d love to grow the colourful carrots but I don’t have space. They look great! Was it zinnea that Catherine said don’t like to be disturbed? I didn’t make a note and now I can’t find it without watching the whole video.
I always have random seeds spilled in the bottom of my seed box. Periodically I throw a handful in a bed that I call my “wonder garden”. I call it that because I throw the random seeds in and wonder what will grow.

@@mwillis7791 That sounds like a good thing to me. I love leeks!
“fuc! fuc!..” tea spewed, tears running, slipping off chair…..you ladies are my kinda gardeners 🤣🤣🤣 💜Heather

I don't have a greenhouse so I'm using that instead. I will hopefully get to use it to try and overwinter spinach. We will see how that goes.

Thank you for watching xxx
I watched the whole thing again last night ... I haven't laughed that much since Catherine dressed up like Bob Ross! You were talking about how often to film your chats, that every month was too frequent ... maybe you could do a seasonal chat every 3 months - winter, spring, summer, autumn ... and talk about what's going on in the garden during that season?
I needed a good laugh! Thank you! Just a thought, maybe you two could get together once at the start of a new season and go over plans for that season and if there’s any other adventures to be had? Thank you again for your time! jd
That's a great idea!
Just what I needed this afternoon. You bring me so much joy x could you use that app to tell you what the plant is x
We tried the app but weren’t sure about the results!
@@Lovelygirliebits thats a bummer . Its going to be interesting to see what it grows into . I just sat a looked at my seedlings . Its so hot here at the moment everything is dying
I've come over from dainty diaries... So worth it - thank you ❤ new subscriber here!
Thanks for subbing!
Yes, keep a hobby that's doesn't become work. When I retired several years back, my husband suggested I get a job at the garden center. I told him that that would take all the fun out of gardening. I think you are rich Catherine. Just Maybe not with money,❤
💚 love this SO much!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Many years ago when I was at the beach, there were millions of little foil packets washed up on the tideline. I took several packets home and planted them, hoping for some lovely assorted flowers. Not a flower to be had….all were beetroot! 😆😆
Hahaha I hope you managed to cook with them! I've never grown beetroot actually. Maybe I need to try!
I had so many seeds, I went to Dollar Tree and bought little containers to consolidate all the packages that were alike. I have an illness, ha. Im afraid I have to buy multiple bags incase they dont come up. Have fun. 🌲🌺🌲
I love the sound of those containers!
Hi seed sisters !!! Lol
Seed sisters unite!
4:12 - 4:30 Best bit ever. I may have watched it five times before moving on. 😂😂
I was going to watch for 5 mins and come back later. An hour later--- lol. - Frances
I must google to see if we have local honey here!
I’m a single income household too. So I understand that feeling.
Great video! I’m pleased to see its not just me who buys more seeds than I have room for. I’d love to grow the colourful carrots but I don’t have space. They look great! Was it zinnea that Catherine said don’t like to be disturbed? I didn’t make a note and now I can’t find it without watching the whole video.
yes it was Zinnias that don't like to be disturbed xxx
😮 This just popped up in my feed. 3 days after posting. I have notifications on. Grr YT.
So annoying! But glad you were able to watch!
Hi , I love your friendship ❤🎉❤🎉beautiful video 😂❤
Thank you for tuning in!
Karen’s box did not surprise me. I remember watching all the videos where she showed seeds she had brought.
And yet I keep buying more!
❤I Wish you ladies were my neighbors you are a lot more fun than mine who frown at me and my garden and cats I have a lot of seeds too 😊
We're lucky to have someone who loves all the chats!
You're so much fun, love ya😂
Thank you for watching!
Bit hard to tell what your plant in the pot is without seeing the leaf close up but it could be a cucumber.
OH how I love you two! I’m getting such a kick ❤
Glad we gave you a laugh!
