Great setup and advice! My plan is to have a section of removable wasteboard in the front so i dont sacrifce cutting room. Also thinking it would be good to have something to support the bottom for larger pieces.
I'm planning something of that nature as well, but just a rectangular Hole in an area that I don't use for anything else, I don't trust a replaceable spoilboard panel to be flat like the rest of the spoilboard
Dennis, thanks for sharing your ideas with us. I've been thinking for doing this for my MK1 ever since I purchased it, but will hold off until my A1 (Altmill Mk 1) arrives, as I've already got a buyer for it. Love the vintage looking "flying-style" safety glasses which I'm assuming you bought from Lee Valley. I had the company that makes the glass for all of the optomitrists in our area, make safety glsss inserts to my prescription. He charged me $75 for this, which is significantly less expensive than what you'd pay for custom safety glasses from the optomitrist!
Would it be better to extend the horizontal spoil board to overlap the vertical spoil board so if the top needs to be flattened, the top of the vertical board matches? Your explanation is fantastic! Simple and easy to understand .
Dennis, what is the distance from your vertical waste board to the front of your table were the machine mounts and how much travel do you have past the vertical waste board?
WOW!! This is great. More, please!!!
