With Mortal Kombat’s upcoming release on HBO Max, we are finally going to take a minute from grinding the Towers Of Time to watch other Kombatants duke it out for a change- because of course we don’t use AI to farm tower rewards. Mortal Kombat has been running for decades at this point, and whether you fell in love with the series at the arcade, on mobile, in the comfort of your own home or even through the big screen in either of it’s live action film adaptations, you’ve probably discovered your main character long ago and continuously root for their inclusion, even after Ed Boone and NetherRealm studios troll you and don’t put them into the base roster (We feel you Mileena fans).
With the rebooted film looking practically perfect, there is the now tale as old as time where even the best video game film adaptations are just mediocre. With Sonic The Hedgehog being a pretty fun and faithful recent video game adaptation, we have high hopes that the trend continues with this attempt. That being said, we are cautiously optimistic about the changes the adaptation will make. Certain characters like Jax and Kano are getting some changes in their origin stories while others like Reptile are receiving major design overhauls. Will they work? Hopefully. I’ve lost faith in my abilities at playing Mortal Kombat when I logged into ranked, so I need something to fix up my lack of Mortal Kombat hankering.

The cast of sub zero and scorpion (even though scorpion was barely in the movie) were perfect. Especially sub zero. The actor did such a great job playing him. Even though sub zero had a mask throughout most of the film, we are able to see the emotions and deadliness through his eyes.

I saw the movie few days ago, Kano is actually one of the highlights in the movie, he was so god damn funny throughout the movie! xD

I had really hoped Ian Anthony Dale would get the chance to reprise his role as Scorpion. New guy looks good, but he seems almost too old.
I Slay Goblins Hiroyuki Sanada is that hitter. I’m still sure he’s an actual samurai that learned how to time travel. Dudes a beast and will be the main character in my mind. Cole is just the newbie audience character needed for exposition

Yeah it was good, the battle between Hanzo and Bi Han/Quan Chi was awesome, season 2 in some parts was ok in others regular but overall it was nice and well done, also the actor Hiroyuki Tagawa from the first movie reprise his role as Shang Tsung.
One of the best to bring mortal kombat to screen 💯 if you a mortal kombat fan from day one you will understand times and movies evolve with tech and only gets better lol at the end of the day everyone has there opinions but it ain’t going to change anything other than their own smell of their breath 😂😂 sit back and enjoy ✌🏾
Johnny Cage has already been confirmed for the sequel. He is supposedly the main protagonist in it.

The sequel will be one of those few that are better than the original.
No he hasn't been confirmed. The director specifically said that if the movie did well and a second film was green lite by the studio, he would love to have Johnny (a big time fan favorite) in the Film as a main character or the main character. He also said he wanted a well known name to play the role, basically he wants to be firing on all cylinders.
So far it look like it will happen but who knows what the director has planned for they story and script.

Nothing wrong with MK95 Reptile. CGI was understandably shitty given the era and the budget. But still that single fight was better than whole 2021 movie.

You know, my guess about Kano is that he's not actually dead, and he gets Metal eye in one of the sequels for the iconic look. Make sense since Sonya you know what.

I actually liked Mileena. While not identical, I really enjoyed her rendition. Her mouth had a "normal" resting state but transforms to a more brutal version when needed. The smeared blood was a nice added touch too.

I tried, I really wanted to enjoy it, but it was horrendous. I feel bad for the cast. They need a better script and someone who knows how to direct a movie for the sequel. Sitting through it hurt.

Well the movie did not live up to expectations. They literally put all the best scenes in the trailer. But it still has potential for a good sequel, and better costumes I hope, especially for Shang Tsung. Dude looks like he dressed up in grandma's drapes and make up for a costume party.
Shang Tsung actor also lacks the screen charisma imo. Like when the scene with subzero in another realm, Shang tsung is the leader but lose with subzero in term of screen presence

2. Jax Briggs and Sonya Blade (Maybe a prequal or a spinoff)
3. Scorpion Hanzo (Could be cool to see what made Hanzo the best warrior of all time)
4. Liu Kang and Kung Lao (Could be a good spinoff/prequal)

goro in this movie reminded me of the incredible hulk visually.

Chris pine is "too kind" to be Johnny Cage.....I think Ryan Reynolds is more suitable to play the character.
I only expect mortal kombat to become better character wise for the next movie, we live in times where we can make better designs and moves I'm sure paramount has enough movie to make the costume/design look like their characters
The movie is honestly pretty well done for it's budget. It feels much more like a 100+ million dollar film
Aesthetic wise and certain characters, agreed. Everything else was pretty garbage.
Fun fact, the matrix directors actually were setting up a Keanu Reeves Kenshi for a future MK movie
I still want to see it, but yeah it looks like there’s a lot of misses. That’s to be expected and doesn’t mean the film will be terrible. I do like the casting of Joe Taslim as I’m a fan of The Night Comes For Us and The Raid. Also Ichi the Killer and Last Life in the Universe are two of my favorite films so I’m glad to see Tadanobu Asano cast as Raiden. I’m a bit skeptical about the addition of a new (and seemingly unnecessary character) the way he was pitched in the interview I read was “as Paul learns about the tournament the audience is brought along with him to learn about the world of Mortal Kombat”. Meaning they basically added him as guide for the audience, but I feel like if they kept with the original story that would be unnecessary, but that’s judging it without seeing it. Other things that are a bit iffy are hearing Kano is more of an antihero, there’s no Johnny Cage (which is odd because the series may not have existed without him) and the CG looks terrible (but that’s watching it on a tablet screen or a computers screen so it may look better at the theater). I know that Sub-Zero doesn’t take Jax’ arms in any version of MK, but it’s different how he lost his arms in the comics, in the games etc. So there are concerns, but I still really want to see it and I shouldn’t judge it before I watch it. It could be good, but I think a lot of people are wary as video game film adaptations are rarely good. With a stack of comics, eleven games considered canon and other film and series iterations there’s a lot to work with.
My only problem with the new one is that Mileena’s actor is African American. I don’t mind African Americans but Mileena should most likely be South-East Asian in order to be fully acurate, in my opinion

@@dancinggojira at the start of the movie when he’s fighting they say he has no defence and just hits wildly fully offensive. So his power gives him armour which means he doesn’t need to defend and can focus on fighting

New Mortal Kombat story disappointed me🙄only fights and fatalities were worth it but damn they just messed up. Alot thing happened in a single movie gave very less time to character development, everything happened so fast it looked like we watch a youtube explanation of that movie. There should have been a trilogy of movies or a webseries instead of that movie.
Or they should have just stick to the sub zero vs scorpion storyline or any origins storyline...and slowly work their way up...idk 🤷

Cole doesn’t detract from the importance of the other characters - he puts the rest of them on an equal footing and acts as the guide into the MK universe for the audience. Particularly the uninitiated.

I have to agree I loved the movie absolutely loved it
i read somewhere that Linden Ashby ( the og Cage himself) has stated that he's gonna be in the latest MK movie, but he's gonna be someone else than the Cage-meister. the director has also stated and confirmed (i think) that since Bi-Han is in this movie, the sequel is going to have Noob Saibot. and maybe even JC himself if the rumors are true. :)

@@jeffjeff8607 well.. since Noob Saibot used to be Bi-han, and we have Bi-han as the main villain in the latest MK movie... I think Bi-han's presence speaks for itself. That and the director has confirmed that NB is gonna be in the sequel. I mean, you can't have Bi-han in the story without him dying and turning into NB.

I'm not gonna lie, I completely forgot about Kenshi.
So I saw the movie in the cinema before the US release. If you are a MK fan this will be an incredible movie I wont give spoilers but Cole Young addition to the movie was a great choice to get new and old fans united and excited and having a storyline. This director needs to stay the director for all upcoming MK movies. Johnny Cage is not dead and the movie indicates him for the sequel so I cannot wait for the sequel. I can just see this movie doing incredibly well at the box office and that this October will feature a massive MK revival for Halloween costumes. Kung lao Fatality is daaaaamn !

8:21, actually kuai liang is sub zero, but Bi Han was the first sub zero, but in the newer games and mortal kombat annihilation we see that Bi Han brother is kual liang and he has the powers.
not entirely correct scorpion killed bi-han and he was actually the first sub-zero but after he was killed by scorpion, his younger brother kuai liang became then sub-zero and bi-han got ressurected as noob saibot
