I didn’t think PoE 2 was that much harder to learn or more complex than D4 but it’s definitely slower, longer, and harder to progress and obtain power while D4 is very streamlined in its progression and when you play PoE 2 you have to put in a lot of work to feel strong while in D4 the game picks up and moves forward very fast.
this is because the marjoity of growth in diablo doesnt take place from 1-60 , it takes place from 60 to paragon 300, because late game content is the meat and potatoes of the game. your not max level at 60, your max level at 300
Great video for someone who doesn't know much about either (still play D3 mainly). I would add for general content that when you show gameplay to reduce your sound from the game by a lot - it was very hard to hear you talk over D4. Thanks for the comparison!
The biggest difference for me is that enemies in POE2 don't level up with you, essentially making leveling completely pointless in Diablo 4. Instead, they spawn more enemies - and sometimes more difficult ones in areas that you've overleveled for, which is MUST better.
played PoE1 before launch, this system is so much better tho it offers less freedom. No need to worry about socket colours or socket links. also this way it seems it gives an easier time for the devs to balance the game.
i find the argument that PoE is "complex" to be very weak. it is not complex at all, sure is it more complex than D4? yeah, maybe by like 25% but the mechanics aren't that much different. PoE2 is more punishing and involves a bit more strategy in terms of fighting mobs. Like in D4 if you get hit by a mob, it's either no biggie or it one shots you. usually there is no in-between. In PoE2 only certain boss moves or mini-boss moves will one shot you, if you are not tanky. White mobs aren't dangerous at all, but in a group if you get encircled they can kill you FAST and there is no rolling out of it. So i'd say that PoE2 is just more punishing for mistakes and requires a bit more cognitive function when actually playing. But the skills, passives and gear aren't complex systems at all.
Of course it's more complex, all it takes is one glance at both and this is what annoys the crap out of me when it comes to these games. Only a handful of builds is really viable, and it takes a lot of time to actually learn how all the mechanics work, so what happens in most cases people just look up a guide and ones that don't usually fuck it up. I'm not saying this needs changing as obviously there are thousands of people who actually enjoy it, but it does kill a lot of fun if you don't fully understand the system and just follow what others have figure out.
I'm a first time player of poe, started poe2 on the early access release and have played quite a lot, it is not overly complex at all. Its so easy to see what you need to do with gear and levels. Its actually quite simple. The people who find is hard are the people who normally copy youtubers builds, so have to go it alone for the first time. Poe2 Is a lot better than diablo imo. Though I only played d4 for about 12 hours before I deleted it.
@@tomekkruk6147 i never said it's not more complex, i said that it wasn't as complex as people make it seem to be. it's more complex than D4, but not by a lot as it's a quite simple and straightforward game. D4 is just oversimplified.
@@leccy9901 agreed. i've played D3 and played a lot of D4. couple weeks ago i went in blind into PoE1, clocked in about 24hrs. And i had no problems understanding mechanics, except for socket links. didn't look at guides or anything at all. same with PoE2, didn't watch anything and just went in blind. clocked in about 40hrs now.
@@ishitrealbad3039 If you don't have the time to learn all the mechanics or you just cant be bothered, then copying a working build makes sense, but it makes the game boring after a few hours. I guess it's one of those games where you have to invest time to like it.
Personal opinion, poe 2 is way better than diablo4. I enjoy the combat a lot more are really easy to make, but you can spend hours making a build as complex and suited to you as you want. Its a really fun game. I played d4 until level 60, and just couldn't stomach more of that combat. The boss fights, so far in poe2 have been far better aswell. Even during act 1 you fight bosses that you need to actually put sone effort in to beat. They are not hard by any strech, but they will kill you if you just try to face tank them. A lot of Diablo 4 bosses just feel like a big normal enemy. I must say though, i dont like the amount of bag space you get.
the iroiThe ironic thing is, the passive skill tree is more new player friendly than Diablo's Paragon system. Everything is already laid out, and you can also SEARCH for the skills you need in a searchbar. With Paragon you really have to test and see what works, switch boards etc. it's very easy to mess up your paragon board.
In Path of Exile, the passive tree is essentially predetermined 99% of the time based on the main skill you plan to use. If you choose a passive tree based solely on your preferences, it will likely result in poor mapping performance. When you examine the passive trees used for different skills and classes in PoE1, you’ll see that they are mostly similar. Moreover, only a handful of builds are capable of defeating the so-called Uber bosses. For example, if Fireball is your main skill, taking down an Uber boss is extremely challenging. This means that the so-called build diversity people talk about is practically nonexistent. It only feels that way because of the seemingly complex passive tree. The skyrocketing prices of core items for builds suggested by PoE1 streamers serve as proof that the idea of build diversity is nothing more than an illusion.
Heh... What? Did you even play Poe ? Or just looking at league starter, see most are classic always existing and think" it's a done deal: only those build works" ? There is a reason why you have so many different build for the same main skill...
hi D4 was my first ARPG, quickly learnt how bad that game was... im following a build guide for a sorc on poe 2 and its teaching me alot about the stuff im doing but i feel like im missing out on the rest of the stuff you would maybe naturally learn if i wasn't following a guide. any tips or anything? im still trying to get my head around gear etc.
If PoE 2 will be anything like the first game it will eventually turn into a one skill screen-clearing spamfest where absolutely everything dies instantly aside from bosses no matter what you are using.
The Poe skill tree would be good if it would not cost money. On D4 the imprinted skills are way more flexible than the skill tree of Poe. My opinion. On consoles, D4 is ways better. Poe is a freeze nightmare beginning end of act 1. At least until now.
Just started a new character in poe2 (ranger). I played 1 session and it took me around 4 hours to get to act 2. If you know how to build, and have convenient rng, the game is not that hard.
Wait, how'd you get stuck on the first boss for an hour!? Do people really have a hard time with the bosses this much? I keep seeing people saying how difficult the game is or how impossible some bosses are, i'm now in act 3 and the only boss i had to retry was the stone giant because of his suicide minions and the final act 2 boss. that boss became a cake walk the 3rd try when i upgraded my gear.
Biggest reason was cold resistance was 0. I missed the witch that gave you 10% cold resistance at the start of the game. Once I had 20% cold resistance I changed gear to add more health then was able to beat him. To me that was the learning curve of the game. Act 2 boss took me 3 trys. Currently in act 3 and just faced Zicoatl and killed him first try.
