Totally. There are a bunch of things I've always disliked in ARPGs that I thought were just part of the genre and couldn't be changed, but POE2 actually changes them.
@@okamichamploo when you get checkpoints during the fighting, you don’t have to run across the whole map. seems people are use to blazing through and getting amazing gear really fast in these types of games. Then they play POE 2 expecting the same thing. The developer purposely made it slower and more challenging; they don't want players to burn through the content at blazing speed, and most weren't prepared for it. so a lot of players are being negative about the game because they can't blaze through the content to max level in a day or two. to me, its a good thing. I am having a blast playing this game and am looking forward to the full release.
Diablo has been the type of game we’re even the first skeletons in the first dungeons could kill you. Then D3 changed everything and it became a rushfestival where players did not have anything that stood against them. Since then, this just continued
I don't know if D4 and PoE 2 should be in the same conversation. A game with thousands of developers against a game consisted of just more than 100... allegedly. It absolutely blows my mind... that PoE2 has more content in early access than D4 had on release for half the price. Comparing D4 to PoE2 is praise that D4 and Blizzard do not deserve. Diablo 4 failed at making a PoE-like game.
You wanna know why poe2 is so good? David Brevik works for GGG lol the original creator of diablo 2. Not only that but they have multiple diablo 2 devs as well
and this people like you do not understand, D4 is a game for the masses, console players that play on their couch, casual players that can play 1-2hours a week and want to have fun by easily blast the game, so the design of the game is completely different from poe, D4 devs said even before the release that D4 will never be a complicate/difficult game. D4 and poe2 are 2 games of the same genre but completely different and both having different players base, so both are very decent, depends what you looking for.
I quit diablo 4 in the first week as a lifelong diablo player who grew up on the first one.. and already poured 50+ hours into poe2 with no plans to stop grinding, BEST GAME EVER when i tried poe1 in 2011 i never expected it to go this far
I think almost anyone who have played Diablo 4 for the last 18-20 months, can take a break and play something else for a while. Doesn't mean the other game is better, or you will ultimately never play D4 again. Gamers play different games. It's OK. I myself will probably be playing PoE2 for the next few months at least. I definitely like the combat more than D4 (slower). But I am sure there will come a time when I have played so much of it, I might feel like playing something different for a bit then too. Hopefully No Rest for the Wicked in on the scene around that time.
People defend the game they've invested time and money into, and that's understandable. However, for most, PoE2 is the better long-term choice, while D4 serves as a short break to unwind before diving back into PoE2.
@@Zemlja_je_ravna Who are you talking about when you say "for most"? I feel that is nonsense sorry. If you mean, "for most PoE players", maybe you're right. But I and many others have played D4 for more than a year and a half. That wasn't some "short break"; so not sure where that statement has any validity. As mentioned, everyone has what suits them more... one doesn't have to be better than the other, as your comment tries to inject. Screams bias.
Ultimately, who like D4 is looking for a social game, who like POE2 is more for a single person grind. A person can like both in different moment of life.
@@WavefrontProductions POE is a much more social game, the first one and the second one. You can tell that by looking at the chat and seeing how the community interacts. POE is actually one of the most social games that's not an MMORPG that I've played.
Super sensible take man. You're bang on about the knowledge aspect. That's always been what PoE is about. As for the power fantasy. I'm playing an Ice Strike Monk at endgame and it's definitely there. I'm exploding huge packs of mobs with Herald of Ice.
Diablo 4 got me into ARPGs but after I put over a hundred hours into Last Epoch and I'm already over halfway there with no signs of slowing down in PoE2, I could never go back
Love your take on the game and as a game artist myself, one which started out wanting to be a mangaka long ago, I've had a blast watching some of your old videos. Keep this up man, video was well produced.
Thanks for the honest and personal explanation of this. Like you even mention in this video, i might have expected thd classic "simple minded D4 noob huehue", but instead we got a really heartfelt video on what you enjoyed about this game. And yes i agree D4 and PoE2 are going for different things, so of course people should enjoy them for what they are. Its heartening to hear people being open and malleable to new things, and i think you came to see a lot of aspects about the game others do as well. Its still just beta, and i honestly hope they work on it for anither year, but its already a blast. Great video mare, cheers
I think the note that they're not trying to be the same thing hits the nail on the head, especially considering so many PoE1 die hards have had their butts hurt than PoE2 is so different. There's a space for both games i totally agree with you, I'm loving PoE2 and was burnt out in D4 s6, but that helltide clip of bursting numbers gave me a feel, which tells me that yeah, I'll be maining PoE2 for the forseeable, but I'll definitely be playing D4 s7 too. Great vid mate.
I’ve spent a significant amount of time in Diablo 4, having purchased it for $100. However, I’m currently enjoying Poe2 much more, and I just upgraded again tonight. Even my girlfriend, who has never played PoE,plays it for hours right next to me while I play. I’m currently playing mercenary, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. It’s much easier than I had anticipated. It took me significantly more tries to defeat bosses as a monk, but with my mercenary, I’ve managed to almost every boss until Act 3 on my first try. The only exception was the big giant knight, which took me about five tries.
As a new player , my friend explained trading and paid stashes. It’s so game changing I’m shocked no one talks about it to beginners. It fundamentally changes how you play the game and gear.
I appreciate the balanced take on this. I'm not a Diablo player at all or a veteran PoE1 player, but I AM a veteran Souls player and long time roguelike fanatic, and I gotta say I am IN LOVE with PoE2. The extreme difficulty and the practical infinity of the build craft make this game a more rewarding experience than anything else I've ever played. It just feels great to get destroyed by a boss repeatedly, re-evaluate your build and realize you were leaving 300% more DPS on the table, fix it up, then go utterly destroy the boss. I also love that bosses are a forced skill check in terms of both build and player ability. Some bosses force you to get up close and personal and dodge roll like a maniac, some force you to play at range or get one shot, but they all force you to view your build in a different light, and teach you hard earned lessons that you will ABSOLUTELY need to be able to make it through the following content. I also really dig that there are no optional mechanics in this game. You HAVE to engage with the systems and understand them to succeed. There are no progression mechanics that feel like they are a waste of time, or can just be skipped over trivially. Many games these days don't give a single shit how smart or skilled you are as a player, they will hand hold every step of the way and give you pats on the back and free items constantly which completely negate/invalidate the progression of your power fantasy, as well as perverting and bypassing the game's existing progression mechanics. Why design mechanics if you're going to then invalidate them though absurd XP rate weekends, copious amounts of free items just for logging in, microtransactions, etc? The answer is either that the mechanics are bad to begin with, or were stripped of their actual value and then repackaged at cost to you by greedy game developers, or simply tone deaf devs who think their players are idiots who need to be spoon fed every second of "gameplay". I'm just sick of games that appeal to the lowest common denominator, and in doing so, strip absolutely anything from the game which requires basic reading comprehension, critical thinking skills, or even something as simple as actually understanding and enjoying the game world/lore. Path of Exile 2 is not that game, and strives in every regard to NOT be like those games. It respects your intelligence, and asks you to bring your best to the table.
Yea this is over complicating it badly. The game revolves around dodgeroll and thats it. That isnt a good thing. All mechanics come down to dodge it with roll. Especially high end where you can have a shit ton of resistances but if you dont dodge its over. The game is not extremely difficult IDK why people think it is. Maybe they are new to the genre or have bad mechanics.
@@maxpowers4436 You're oversimplifying it. It' fine to have issues with the game, but let's not pretend my stated opinion is parading itself as a fact and then base our responses under that premise. 😉 I find this reductive. Dodge roll does matter a LOT. However, I've found that any time I had severe difficulty with a boss I found to seem impossible, or even the ascendancy trials, I found a way to beat them through improving my build or realizing the game was trying to get me to fight like I'm smart. For example, I had a really rough time fighting Viper in Act 3 due to her ranged poison attacks one shotting me most of the time, despite dodge rolling to the best of my ability. I realized I could just run up to her and hit her hard once with Hexblast to break her out of that attack pattern entirely. This is the kind of thing I mean, it's not that dodge rolling is bad, it's that people aren't willing to play this like it's a game and instead treat it like a product they bought which is malfunctioning the first instance they have a hard time. You have to be willing to experiment and try new things and treat this as the unique experience that it is. The game has its problems FOR SURE, and I do think a lot of stuff is overtuned, but let's not kid ourselves about what's really going on here: people who get mad when they play video games and lose repeatedly are the ones who are generally having a bad time, and the ones who don't are generally having a good time. 1000% mindset.
The main difference between D4 and POE2. Customization is endless and your not locked into same old builds. The maps actually look different and feel new, in D4 everything looks the same, but in POE2 each new area is a new experience with new enemies that bring different challenges to the table. D4 every enemy is just a skin, you dont really care what your fighting because they are all the same and act the same. In D4 you wont really die or struggle like you will in POE2
My main problem with Diablo 4 is how the game basically throws builds in your face through item aspects and there’s nothing to really figure out. You just look for bigger numbers on gear and that’s literally it
Great video I'm in a similar boat as you & 100% agree. For me both games are different enough & while I'm greatly enjoying my time with POE2 right now, I'll definitely go back to D4 at some point, love that game.
Imo in some aspects Last Epoch is better than PoE2... skill progression especially. I mean, you can drastically change how certain skill works aka. it has its own skill tree. Imagine something similar in PoE2.
LE has its issues. Many builds and skills you'd want to invest points into just don’t work, and the respeccing system is overly time-consuming. Additionally, the map designs feel low effort and awkward, making replayability less enjoyable.
Review from a lvl 80 Infernalist Witch player. Short version. "The campaign is extremely slow and tedious. Boss fights are great, but having to walk through immense zones killing the same kind of mobs over and over and over for so long bored me to death."
PoE makes you THINK about your character. What problems do you have? How do I solve those problems? Am I using good support gems? Do my skills all work in conjunction with one another? Do I have enough HP/resists to stay alive? These are slightly harder to solve in early-access poe2 compared to poe1, but they are still able to be solved with some planning. The extreme power-fantasy that D4 gives you in 5 hours of gameplay is still there in PoE, it just takes more time/actual thought to achieve, and because of that, is far more satisfying in my opinion, especially with the freedom of making all kinds of silly combinations work out in the end.
I agree with the last statement, it's the same for me. I enjoy playing D4 in a seasonal way, trying new things, having a blast, and moving on. I play Poe 1 for a long period of time and go back to D4 whenever a new season drops. I don't understand why people have to compare both games since they focus on different aspects. Just play what you want, how you want!
@ 6:00 exactly, once i approached the game from a different perspective im having TONS of fun, also cant wait to start new creative builds, like warrior with summons etc, for an early access game im so happy with it
you can log off with a portal, and it will be there when you log on again. but even after the lootupdate im still sometimes stuck cause i havent gotten the correct look for weapon
Yesterday I run through all area only to meet up with boss. Had to go for quick piss, I opened a portal came back from toiled after 2 minutes and my portal was gone and all area reset. I had to run it all over again…
I enjoy the game cause I treat it as a game, not as a certain genre and then expect it to play a certain way. I mean what happened to just having fun instead of ticking off boxes?
The way you can customize so much is amazing. I customize separate skill trees for each weapon set. POE2 is really the Linux of ARPGs I wonder which ARPG would be Windows?
@@Chadwick-k7x Perhaps you mean Stoneshard (developed by "Ink Stains Games" and published by "HypeTrain Digital")? The game looks visually similar to the clip. Thanks.
It was the second day to me when I realized how incredibly good this game is. I had to reset my mindset about playing the classics like PoE and Diablos and think of it as a game I haven't played before. Just let it grow on me as such. Then I realized it doesn't have to feel so fast rather than enjoy the real fun in the mechanics. But unfortunately I think as such none of the other classes are nearly as enjoyable as monk. Destroying mobs with insane combos and timing your hits and dodge rolls, yet always having that pressure of missing the beat and getting totally annihilated. I haven't had this much fun in arpg since Elden Ring. There's a huge balancing still ahead for GGG to make it nearly as fun to play as with monk. And this is exactly what GGG did absolutely right. They already got PoE which is arguably the most comprehensive Diablo type of game with continuous never ending devwlopment that creates new leagues based on fan comments. There was no reason to make remaster of the game that is still running and it looks insanely good for its age. They made a new game with different perspective, serving the other types if hardcore gamers who for example enjoyed getting beaten in Souls games or dungeon crawlers.
Yeah I think the way it gets better when you adjust your mindset is just a testament to how POE2 is really evolving the genre and not just doing the same thing as before.
Diablo makes me think I'm wasting time if I'm not blasting through content. I don't even remember what mobs in zones look like. They're just there to explode. Every build is just 'pick whatever skill is favored this season, max the damage on it and reduce your cooldowns as much as possible and mash buttons'. PoE2 is actually fun to slow down. I enjoy the slower pace of combat and actually having to pay attention to what's going on.
Its slow and crunchy like D2. The only thing I can ask for would be a game with PoE2's systems but the uncanny valley of D2's missing frames of animation. It still visually holds up because of its limitations it feels unsettling.
I'm really struggling in PoE2 right now (I'm expert at dying), but I can tell I'm going to enjoy this completely different "genre" of gaming. YW is spot on in his analysis - there is no comparison between D4 and PoE2. The only real question is which game are you willing to spend more freetime on? I gave D4 6 seasons to come up with a game that appeals to my preferred gaming style. Now I'm going to give the same opportunity to PoE2. I just have to make it over this steep learning curve.
After playing poe2 then going back to d4, feels like night and day. D4 is like is in turbo mode. Poe2 is difficult but it aint soulslike...stay away from blasters they ruin the fun play the game the way u want it to be.
Something weird happened with me. I bought D4 and got bored after making it about half way through the game. When POE2 came out I loved it but found it too hard. I made it into the second act but can't beat some of the bosses there and I'm sick of trying. So I went back to D4 and am now loving it. I am almost through the main game and am about to start the expansion. Thank you POE2 for making me like D4. I'm going to finish D4 and then go back and give POE2 another shot.
I played d2,d3 and d4 till s1. Poe1 never got me, i expectet that poe2 would be good but damn it hit me like a truck. Cant stop playing. Cant imagine how it will be on release
tip 1 - find move speed boots as fast possible. 15%-30% etc.❤ tip 2 - cruel act 1 to 3 is easy as f. 😂normal is harder. tip 3 - poe 2 is more defensive. no chill yet. try make build more def. harder to die especially for mapping. (mind over matter) ❤
As soon as I saw the video about the POE2 beta release, I stopped playing D4 immediately. I play POE2 a lot now, and have not even considered loading up D4 ever again. The gamer experience in POE2 is FANTASTIC! You can tell that these developers LOVE their game!
the maps resetting after a certain time is for server capacity reasons i believe. in poe often later in a season when there were less players, they would stay open much longer iirc.
I run a simple build with +35% magic/rarity find, and it together with the loot changes of the recent patch have me drowning in gear even before getting to Maps.
Thank you for sharing. Your closing thoughts synch with me. I am old enough to remember playing the original Diablo when it first came out. I dislike the speediness of modern day diablo games. The original Diablo was slow, methodical & had strong horror elements. I still remember the fear & excitement I felt taking on the Blood Raven in Diablo2. Ironically, POE2 fulfils this instead of Diablo 3 or 4. I've never asked for seasons. I still remembering farming Mephisto in D2. How many of us still remember what MSLE stands for in D2? It is strange that GGG POE2 is the successor of Diablo.
Learn to progress skills, gems, ascendary, weapon, gear combine them with paragon tree ! I love how this game just progress the art and the how the brain need to work through this game ! 🤩 Feels like old games when you need patient, work rate and use the brain !
I don't know if this got any better in diablo 4 because I stopped playing before the 1st season came out, lol. But LOOT was terrible in diablo 4, like I had a full backpack all the time and had to check all the items, which felt like a chore.
I'm a kid of the 80's, and I've always played games for FUN. I think the world has gone mad, and people take fun WAY too seriously these days. Why the hell would you dedicate yourself to one game when there are so many awesome games to play?! That said I'm also having a blast in POE 2, and also intend to keep dropping in to D4 whenever there's new content. I agree they're both different enough from each other; Diablo IV is mindless fun (power fantasy, slay hordes of demons, insane cut scenes, amazing transmog system and armour designs, mounts and open world. POE rewards more serious engagement, the more you put in the more you get out. Higher highs and lower lows, so far so good!
Played both D4 and Poe 2. The thing I like about POE 2 is the difficulty from the get go. Compared to D4. POE 2 gets difficult way quicker. In the D4 at launch the only difficult part was the dungeons to get into higher difficulty of very high keys (i cant remember thename).
Never played diablo games Me and a couple of friends almost bought d4 but we had a feeling we won't commit too much + the reviews we seen were pretty negative about the direction We did get poe2, some of us touched the first game a bit some freshly new and so far we love it A lot to soak in and learn but we are having a blast
Yeah I think a lot of people were turned off of D4 from the reviews, but honestly a lot of the negativity was more of a snowball effect of everyone jumping on the band wagon and not a super fair representation of the game in my opinion, but yeah good to hear you're in POE2 now and enjoying the journey.
Before even talking about gameplay, Blizz has 13k employees vs GGG's 156 employees per Google. Just shows a perspective on how much you'll spend playing D4 with them wanting to charge for an expansion every year with content much smaller than PoE's. The more content in PoE2, the busier you'll be with it but with D4 being easier and faster, you'll finish the game faster and needing to open your wallet for more dopamine (hmm strategically planned that way?).
God damnnn my dude!! I just wanted to give you a massive shout out for creating such a fantastic, well thought out, and well spoken video!! I’m blown away that you don’t have more than 3k subs for the quality of content you just created my dude!! I just wanted to let you know that you absolutely have a place on TH-cam as a content creator if you’re putting out such works of art, such as this video, regularly! Keep up the great work my dude! I wish you all the best with your bright future on here! I look forward to catching more of your content! *liked, and subbed* 🫡
Thanks that means a lot. I work full time and have a family so even though I used to do a fair bit of TH-cam, everyday life nowadays has made it hard to post content on any sort of consistent basis, but after the response to this vid I really feel like I need to give it another go.
I've played Diablo from 1, including bata's. 4K hrs in D3 HC. D4, (facepalm) Great story line. That's all. No end game, hate this rinse and repeat seasonal thing. SOOOO glad I was talked into POE2 by my friends. Early access/Beta, whatever. Very finished, and it's not even out yet. I'm liking it. Right at the start, the game lets you know you are in something different. 800 yards from beach, little boss that said "COME HERE!" dead. Yea, ok, this is different.
I always wonder about people who can't deal with or dont enjoy slower more methodical combat systems, I wonder how someone like you would enjoy Monster Hunter.
Honestly, diablo 2, grim dawn and POE2 are the best iterations of ARPG’s. I much prefer POE2 to the original even though I was there for the beginning with that one as well.
POE2 has some issues, im sure they will tweak. You cant go far into 2 weapon skills because they require stats like STR, DEX, INT so if they dont require the same its pretty difficult
Hopefully, they prioritize the crashing reports over smaller changes for now. The crashing locking up your entire PC is crazy. Maybe it's 9800x3d related or Win 11 24h2 or something but dang is it not fun to crash and have to restart the PC. Game is super fun playing in COOP. Oh, maybe that's another reason we are crashing so much coop play....
@@TonyMaxBirt It also appears to be in earlier acts in act 3 no crashing as of yet. I am getting a weird graphical issue where it does something and now my entire PC is at like 720p and looks weird. It happens to my whole PC not just the game. No other games cause this issue.
I get the feeling when you said "like other games I enjoy... like -OLD SCHOOL ROGUELIKES" you weren't referring to REALLY OLD ones because of the clip you shown I'd recommend you to check Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (aka DCSS) since you like roguelites/likes and you like deep, tactical and replayable games, it was and still is one of the staples of the RL genre before Roguelites flooded the market.
Thanks! Glad to hear from another old school rogue-like fan. I actually was referring to those really old ones. Just visually I thought Stoneshard would be a better way to express that feeling in the video. It just seemed like a better visual match since it's a little more dark and griddy. I've played the original rogue, nethack, and brogue, but I'll check out DCSS too, since you recommended it. I also recommend "hauberk" from munificent. It's super simple and probably one of my favorites. Maybe more modern, but still old school in it's design.
The two remarks about being slow at the beginning, and finding rubbish loot at the beginning - i mean this makes sense, though doesnt it? Logically, and systemically. Unlike D4 where you get a tidal wave of glittering and nonsensical stuff.
If you love Diablo 2 (the greatest of them all) then POE 2 really hits it. The much simpler approach than POE 1 and the itemization and crafting mechanics which is reminiscent to D2, just feels at home. Oh and loot drops is scarce too which is also like D2 that you must have “mf” items to increase drop rates which makes it more satisfying
I'm early game but playing a sorceress and I'm fighting through the game like a hot knife through butter. I know it's probably going to be harder down the line but so far I find it challenging but quite easy. I've face 6 bosses and died about twice. I'm using firewall with combustion and spark that's it.
Diablo 4 never hooked me the movement and skills weren’t really appealing but I have been playing POE 2 for the last week and have found my new Main game I haven’t really been a Arog fan more of a cod, destiny, fortnite but the movement in this game reminds me of dark souls and I really like that and the difficulty is perfect
I’ve been a casual ARPG player all my life. I had the first D on PlayStation and can’t remember if I beat it or not. I couldn’t play D2 until 2021 because I didn’t play on PC. I didn’t get into D3 until 2020 because I hated it on release. I love D4 because I don’t really get into endgame shit too much. Thought the campaign was awesome. I did not like all the trash drops but I would just savage them for resources. I fuckin love POE 2. I know I’ll hit a wall at some point but I feel I really want to get into this. I’m sure I’ll be watching some videos because I don’t know much when it comes to gems and all that.
Yeah I don't know if endgame is for everyone (or really for every game). Sometimes it's fun to just play through for a good 20 to 40 hours and then start over. I get bored just sticking to one character for too long. Oh and for POE2, yeah watching some tip videos definitely help. I try to avoid direct build guides but there are some UI tricks that isn't super clear in game.
D4 just seems like such an easy ARPG though. Steamrolling through dozens of enemies at a time, scooping up insane amounts of loot... it just seems to lack any challenge. It's a facerolling dopamine rush.

The graphics, the animations, and special effects are so much better than d4. I wasn't initially hooked on poe2, but once it clicked it was really awesome. D4 is done.
I was gonna QUIT poe2 but you've changed my mind now I have decided to put my monk back on the map and I am even gonna try a tank spec warrior with shield because the game is slow and the bosses are hard and even mobs can gank you and hit hard a tank spec might work THANK YOU .
if you learn the game and get half decent gear and build your class well you'll literally be melting bosses in cruel difficulty. The game gets MUCH easier once you complete the campaign, just stick with it.
5:45 to 6:15 - The most important part of your video! Perspective is a powerful mindset to have in order to attain a greater understanding on what you want to experience! Very smart way to look at PoE2. Expectations can make or break your experience, and what you said is exactly how I feel about this game. It's not a traditional, cookie cutter arpg we would normally expect, and it's done very well. Everything you stated was so well said!
It felt the same to me...Coming from D3 and D4, the progression is so slow, i hope they patch that, that it gets faster. Also movement is so slow, and there are no skill points to increase movement, except maybe new shoes....
The Mercenary was my choice as well. The game is very fun but the characters..or my character feels sluggish/slow. I mean here’s a character that’s supposed to do battle with undead and demons..moving around in a fight with all of the dexterity and agility of a scarecrow. I’m sure it will get better..but it’s tedious going.
yeah it seems cool, but sometimes it's like your character is moving like their overweight in a souls game while the enemies are moving like it's a fast paced shoot em up.
Poe vs Diablo feels like the COD vs BF conversation. IMO while they are the same Genre they are so different within their spectrum that comparing them doesnt work IMO
@@via_negativa6183 no it doesn't. I also prefer POE when it comes to a "deep" ARPG but I can totally understand people enjoying D3 or D4 for the more Action oriented approach. POE doesnt get worse by people existing that like Diablo
Many players have mentioned d2 with poe2. What makes me love d2 is the dopamine effect finding rare items or runes, do you get the same feeling in poe 2? If so, when?
This is the issue I see with the vitriol surrounding po2. People are framing it too much on the arpg genre expectations when it really has alot in common with standard action games and this is the step forward the genre needed honestly. The moment to moment gameplay is just more engaging than anything out there bar no rest for the wicked which I don't really consider an arpg at all
POE2 is the ARPG I've been wanting for a long time.
Since the original diablo 2
Totally. There are a bunch of things I've always disliked in ARPGs that I thought were just part of the genre and couldn't be changed, but POE2 actually changes them.

seems people are use to blazing through and getting amazing gear really fast in these types of games.

@@Pl4sm0 "people like you", who? You are repeating what they said, you good lil bro?
Diablo 4 didn't even have resistances working for months.
They're both Arpgs so they can be in same conversation
I quit diablo 4 in the first week as a lifelong diablo player who grew up on the first one.. and already poured 50+ hours into poe2 with no plans to stop grinding, BEST GAME EVER when i tried poe1 in 2011 i never expected it to go this far
@@Trippin710 POE 2 is overrated
Holy shit, I didn't even notice the search function in the passive skill tree 😳
I think almost anyone who have played Diablo 4 for the last 18-20 months, can take a break and play something else for a while. Doesn't mean the other game is better, or you will ultimately never play D4 again. Gamers play different games. It's OK. I myself will probably be playing PoE2 for the next few months at least. I definitely like the combat more than D4 (slower). But I am sure there will come a time when I have played so much of it, I might feel like playing something different for a bit then too. Hopefully No Rest for the Wicked in on the scene around that time.
im never returning to D4 again. Blizzard doesnt deserve my time and money for releasing such a s1t game.
Diablo 4 got me into ARPGs but after I put over a hundred hours into Last Epoch and I'm already over halfway there with no signs of slowing down in PoE2, I could never go back
Nice! Yeah Diablo in general is great for introducing people to ARPGs. I came in from D3.
Love your take on the game and as a game artist myself, one which started out wanting to be a mangaka long ago, I've had a blast watching some of your old videos. Keep this up man, video was well produced.
Awesome man!
and apologies for the horrible audio in those old vids (>.
Thanks, and yeah it's so true. It's a great time to be a gamer. Especially when you are open to see the good in numerous games.
everytime you level up, you can check vendors for new upgraded stock, useful way to gear alts with gold you earn with higher character
I'm feeling the same way about POE2 in so many ways. Good video!
As a new player , my friend explained trading and paid stashes. It’s so game changing I’m shocked no one talks about it to beginners. It fundamentally changes how you play the game and gear.
Yeah I picked up some paid stashes and they help a lot.
Totally agree!
Those reasons you outlined are the very reasons why i like PoE 2, Terraria and V-Rising.
GET DOWN!
Wow bro that was like an essay for PoE2 and gaming in general. Well said!!👊🏾
Yea this is over complicating it badly.
4:14 use your orbes on gear and check NPC vendor he has new gear everytime you level up..
Have you tried V rising? If you like ARPG's there's a great chance you'll love it
I'll vouch for this. ARPG meets survival/crafting in very good way.
You just look for bigger numbers on gear and that’s literally it
good approach! Good video! Btw, I like the open ending xD
Great video I'm in a similar boat as you & 100% agree. For me both games are different enough & while I'm greatly enjoying my time with POE2 right now, I'll definitely go back to D4 at some point, love that game.
Which or what game is best to play has a beginner?
Yazuki, how do you feel now that you can teleport between checkpoints on the map?
Question for you sir: have you (also) tried *Last Epoch* ? How would you compare it to D4 & POE2 (early access, that is)?
Right now so far this is how I see them. POE2>Last Epoch>D4 imo
PoE2>>>LE>D4
Imo in some aspects Last Epoch is better than PoE2... skill progression especially. I mean, you can drastically change how certain skill works aka. it has its own skill tree. Imagine something similar in PoE2.
I prefer crafting in poe then LE. It's take to much from a game. In last epoch I feel like its crafting game with ARPGs elements
Whats the point of reviewing a pre-release game? It’s not even out yet.
You basically described the aRPG genre. Well done.
So doing endgame activities walking thru the immense zone kiling the same mob over and over again is not boring ?
@ 6:00 exactly,
once i approached the game from a different perspective im having TONS of fun,
also cant wait to start new creative builds, like warrior with summons etc,
for an early access game im so happy with it
Have you ever tried Last Epoch?
Perfect middle ground between PoE1 and D3
That game is way too easy
Nah that game would be grim dawn.
@@maxpowers4436i agree that game is Grim Dawn

you can log off with a portal, and it will be there when you log on again. but even after the lootupdate im still sometimes stuck cause i havent gotten the correct look for weapon

@@ibrahimhakim6232yes - just wanted to comment that too. So annoying…
I enjoy the game cause I treat it as a game, not as a certain genre and then expect it to play a certain way.
I mean what happened to just having fun instead of ticking off boxes?
The way you can customize so much is amazing.
I customize separate skill trees for each weapon set.
POE2 is really the Linux of ARPGs
I wonder which ARPG would be Windows?
What is the pixelated game at 6:09?
I think its called Dart Stone or Dark Shard on Steam.
@@Chadwick-k7x Perhaps you mean Stoneshard (developed by "Ink Stains Games" and published by "HypeTrain Digital")? The game looks visually similar to the clip. Thanks.
Yup it was Stoneshard.
It has a similar unforgiving difficulty that gets better as you grow in your knowledge of the game and world.
I don’t know you but I subbed because I want to see you progress. Let’s go!
Thanks man. I'm pretty rusty at the youtube thing, but I'll do my best to keep things rolling!
Its slow and crunchy like D2. The only thing I can ask for would be a game with PoE2's systems but the uncanny valley of D2's missing frames of animation. It still visually holds up because of its limitations it feels unsettling.
POE2 is d2 successor I’ll die on this hill
absolutly !!! you can see it everywhere that POE2 is honoring D2 loD a lot.
Awesome! It's going to feel that much better when you come back to the parts you struggled with at first and see how much you improve.
After playing poe2 then going back to d4, feels like night and day. D4 is like is in turbo mode. Poe2 is difficult but it aint soulslike...stay away from blasters they ruin the fun play the game the way u want it to be.
As someone who never played diablo, but have played maplestory a lot- the loot is extremely generous from my perspective 😅
As a diablo player who loves the OG D2, This game is everything we have been waiting for. D4 just can't keep me entertained for long.
PoE 2 is finally the spiritual successor we all wanted for diablo 2. GGG absolutely cooked with this one.
I played d2,d3 and d4 till s1. Poe1 never got me, i expectet that poe2 would be good but damn it hit me like a truck. Cant stop playing.
Cant imagine how it will be on release
tip 1 - find move speed boots as fast possible. 15%-30% etc.❤
tip 2 - cruel act 1 to 3 is easy as f. 😂normal is harder.
tip 3 - poe 2 is more defensive. no chill yet. try make build more def. harder to die especially for mapping. (mind over matter)
❤
Poe 2 feels like the Diablo 2 sequel I been waiting forever for
a solid review!
such a smooth review maid
As soon as I saw the video about the POE2 beta release, I stopped playing D4 immediately. I play POE2 a lot now, and have not even considered loading up D4 ever again. The gamer experience in POE2 is FANTASTIC! You can tell that these developers LOVE their game!
the maps resetting after a certain time is for server capacity reasons i believe. in poe often later in a season when there were less players, they would stay open much longer iirc.
I run a simple build with +35% magic/rarity find, and it together with the loot changes of the recent patch have me drowning in gear even before getting to Maps.
The fog of war after game crash is just criminal.
It´s good but melee combat needs a bit more balancing. I went from smacking everything to getting almost oneshotted all the time at the end of act II.
@@Stalker950-l3x I feel ya. Just ran into a bit of that myself early Act 3
nice review!
Higher highs and lower lows, so far so good!
imo there aren't many good ones out there to choose from. A million games out there and I enjoy just a handful of them.
Blasphemy, you need to pick a side! Now you are a pariah to both sides xP
Capstone Dungeons I think. Honestly kinda upset they got rid of them in the new Expansion/Season
Never played diablo games
Me and a couple of friends almost bought d4 but we had a feeling we won't commit too much + the reviews we seen were pretty negative about the direction
We did get poe2, some of us touched the first game a bit some freshly new and so far we love it
A lot to soak in and learn but we are having a blast
Yup that is often a result of big corporate game design.
You can play both and it will be ok.
I started out a sorc took it to 40 or so and decide to try a ranger?????? The game is not difficult, but I feel like I’m cheating with a ranger.
Honestly, diablo 2, grim dawn and POE2 are the best iterations of ARPG’s. I much prefer POE2 to the original even though I was there for the beginning with that one as well.
I believe the devs have responded with feedback and have increased the drop rates :)
true, it's definitely felt better lately. Just enough boost without going overboard. Rare's and Unique's still feel special.
POE2 has some issues, im sure they will tweak. You cant go far into 2 weapon skills because they require stats like STR, DEX, INT so if they dont require the same its pretty difficult
Yeah I was definitely feeling a bit of that. I'm guessing it will get better, but right now the skill/weapon combinations seem a bit restricted.
Had half a dozen crashes (Full locks) on Win11, with a 7800x3d. Dual installed Win10, no crashes since. It is something in Win11.
@@TonyMaxBirt It also appears to be in earlier acts in act 3 no crashing as of yet. I am getting a weird graphical issue where it does something and now my entire PC is at like 720p and looks weird. It happens to my whole PC not just the game. No other games cause this issue.
I get the feeling when you said "like other games I enjoy... like -OLD SCHOOL ROGUELIKES" you weren't referring to REALLY OLD ones because of the clip you shown
I'd recommend you to check Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (aka DCSS) since you like roguelites/likes and you like deep, tactical and replayable games, it was and still is one of the staples of the RL genre before Roguelites flooded the market.
It’s beta but more fun than d4 even though bugs things still need fixing
If you love Diablo 2 (the greatest of them all) then POE 2 really hits it. The much simpler approach than POE 1 and the itemization and crafting mechanics which is reminiscent to D2, just feels at home. Oh and loot drops is scarce too which is also like D2 that you must have “mf” items to increase drop rates which makes it more satisfying
I don't care witch game is better but your passive tree just made my day XD
Good video. I'd definitely like to hear an update when you get to mapping
You can’t pause in d4 soooo what are we talking about here
Good summary and the "exit Diablo 4" hesitation at the end made me laugh...
I'm early game but playing a sorceress and I'm fighting through the game like a hot knife through butter. I know it's probably going to be harder down the line but so far I find it challenging but quite easy. I've face 6 bosses and died about twice. I'm using firewall with combustion and spark that's it.
build nerfed now i think
@ thanks for the support! All day at work I have beginner guide videos on lol. I work alone marking underground utilities so the videos flow
the only cons I have for this game is their server. I hope they fix their server soon or atleast before the end of early access.
D4 just seems like such an easy ARPG though. Steamrolling through dozens of enemies at a time, scooping up insane amounts of loot... it just seems to lack any challenge. It's a facerolling dopamine rush.
That passive tree setup is a war crime
You only use about 1/8th of it though it’s separated by class
Wrong. The passive skill tree is the Sistine Chapel of skill trees.
@@Toshiboyai separated? its all sharing one tree? There is nothing stopping you from going anywhere on the tree. There is no limitations other than only getting 122 points to choose out of 1500 nodes
Real question: Are people really still playing Diablo?
Are people really still playing POE 1?
I can imagine that player base now xD
@@MrCodeman2036 It just hit it's all time high players last league, 12 years later and steadily growing. I don't know any game like that. Then POE2 drops and they hit double that amount and have had like a 5% drop in players in a week after release, like wtf even is that.
@@MrCodeman2036Yes,me.
I literally get depressed every time I see clips of Diablo 4 because of how boring and repetitive it looks
Attack speed and movement speed are kings in this game. Just pick ALL you can
5:45 to 6:15 - The most important part of your video!
Also movement is so slow, and there are no skill points to increase movement, except maybe new shoes....
youre right, there not trying to be SAME game. however D4 tries to be D3 when PoE2 doesnt reference 1st game
Welcome exile! This is just the beginning, there's more to come 😍
Poe vs Diablo feels like the COD vs BF conversation.
IMO while they are the same Genre they are so different within their spectrum that comparing them doesnt work IMO
No it certainly works
@@via_negativa6183 no it doesn't.
I also prefer POE when it comes to a "deep" ARPG but I can totally understand people enjoying D3 or D4 for the more Action oriented approach.
There is no need to tell someone his game sucks because of another game.
It's like saying valorant and cs are the same.
They are not, it's fine to have preferance.
Get over it. POE doesnt get worse by people existing that like Diablo
Longer questing and mapping is what the majority wants. Who wants to do a 2 hour campaign and then run the same dungeon over and over lol
Fantastic review and insights!
9:42 ps, i want to hear more
PoE2 is more Diablo 2 than Diablo 2
Yeah man, it's an absolute game changer!
Many players have mentioned d2 with poe2. What makes me love d2 is the dopamine effect finding rare items or runes, do you get the same feeling in poe 2? If so, when?
@@pUpzorzwhen you get good drops like any game 😂
@ I don’t get the same feeling in many games because it’s not rare enough
They should fix the ascendancy mechanics. Lower level can't even make it unlike in poe1 you can get the first ascendancy already.
This is the issue I see with the vitriol surrounding po2. People are framing it too much on the arpg genre expectations when it really has alot in common with standard action games and this is the step forward the genre needed honestly. The moment to moment gameplay is just more engaging than anything out there bar no rest for the wicked which I don't really consider an arpg at all
Yup, the moment to moment gameplay just feels so much better. That's exactly why the first POE game didn't win me over but this one did.
