When I watch the UK version I'm taken back to my school days as it's so true to the reality of school life it's scary. The language, the mocking of your mates, the embarrassing moments and even to that one teacher who we all suspected of liking the students a little 'too much' if you know what I mean. The US version feels like a group of adults tried to imagine what public school is like but have no clue.
Another difference between the two Jays is that whilst UKJ is clearly desperate for his friends to believe his ridiculous stories and is visibly upset when they call him out, USJ doesn't seem to care less whether people buy his lies or not
Simon in the proper inbeetweeners also played golf with his dad in one episode but it wasn’t a main part of the episode, it was just to put risk in Simon drinking with the rest.

I remember we had a slave/servant auction at our school about 20 years ago (in New Zealand). I found the bidding on the black guy very funny, because it highlights just how ridiculous and stupid that whole slave auction thing was.
Its channels like this that create top notch content but the vast majority would rather watch tik tok compilations so they end up quitting and never getting anywhere, but as most big youtubers say, you end up getting nowhere for years then you blow up. so keep solidering on and providing us top notch videos and you will one day be big never give up.

The thing is, Simon simping for Carli and jay talking about shagging could’ve worked. If they had just spaced it out through series, it might’ve worked. The thing that made the uk versions so great is the subtlety. Simon would sometimes have small awkward moments with Carli and only once or twice in the whole show would he do something big, like when he spray painted her driveway. That was one of the things that made Simon a good character, you could relate to him but at the same time, laugh at him. With the uk version Jay, the reason he was so good, was because he’d never go too far with every one of his lies and they were never repetitive. But sometimes, he’d want to make people believe his lies so much, he started believing them himself, but only some of them. For example, the school trip episode, where Jay tells Neil that there was some woman who would have sex with school boys. He wanted this lie to be real so much, that he ended up believing it himself then spent the entire trip looking for someone he’d made up. If you watch that episode, you can see the first time jay mentions it to Neil, he tells him this lie the same way he tells Neil other lies, but Jays constant desperation to impress and convince Neil of his lies, it drives him into believing it himself. Also, Just to prepare yourself, American “Jay” gets so much worse. (I’m using air quotes because, let’s be real, that’s not Jay)
The annoying thing is, there's nothing uniquely British about the Inbetweeners. The show is about a group of kids who are cooler than the nerdy kids, but not quite as cool as the popular kids. Hence they are 'inbetweeners'. I refuse to believe that such a concept doesn't exist in American schools. After all, teenagers not being able to find their place is a pretty universal theme, I'd imagine. All you have to do from there is create four caricatures of American teenagers and have them act, speak do things like American teenagers do in real life. Do that and you have an American adaptation of the Inbetweeners that could be very successful. It's more difficult to mess up than get it right, yet they still managed it.
I always assumed that 'inbetweener' referred to adolescence, that being the awkward stage in between childhood and adulthood. You're probably right though.

Did Will really expect Jay not to wind him up when he asked if he was attractive? As with the original they're always insulting each other (from what I've seen) so how did he think this time would be different? UK Will would never make that mistake, we can all look up to that bumlog millionaire

The joke with Jay isn't what he says its him being questioned on it, clearly not knowing what he's talking about and doubling down regardless. The US writers clearly didn't get that.

Everyone gets mad at the kid who bid on a black kid at the senior slave auction, but nobody gets mad at the black kid who chose to take part in the senior slave auction and then got offended when someone bid on him. Maybe there's a scene before or after where he says something about how he only participated to bring attention to how bad the slave trade was, and all the other characters mope about how bad it was for slaves while emotional music plays in the background and everyone says something about how they didn't know and just thought it would be fun. Doesn't that sound just like The Inbetweeners
