The thing with Simon's simping in the UK version is Carly's reaction is either disgust or she uses him for her own ends (like revision or to get back at an ex). He looks like an idiot simping over her, everyone knows it, his friends tell him but he still does it. In the US version they leave this sort of chance he might get with her but it just makes it awkward. Also in the UK Simon actually got a girlfriend and forgets about Carly until he gets dumped and then goes back to being a simp. The break from it makes it less obnoxious and the way he goes back to simping makes him look more silly
In the UK version of the Inbetweeners they got that Gilbert was a psychopath who should not be teaching because he didn’t care what happened to the students under his care and Greg Davis played that to perfection The US Gilbert does that but weirder more disturbing reasons
Wouldn’t hiding shit in his briefcase make WILL look like an idiot when the bully open his bag and finds out Will has shat in it? How would that humiliate Donovan? Was he expecting Donovan to open his briefcase and pour whatever’s in this in his mouth without looking? I have so many questions.
I don't think Mr Gilbert allowed Donovan to get away with doing stuff to Will due to disliking Will and wanting to see him suffer, I believe it was simply because Mr Gilbert really didn't want to do any extra work, dealing with one student bullying another is extra work.
Gilbert does actively dislike Will specifically though, because Will at the start has a massive chip on his shoulder to where he actively looks down on everyone, and Gilbert sees it as an opportunity to take Will down a peg. I mean, Will's opening line to Gilbert is something along the lines of "Mr. Gilbert, you seem like an intelligent man". lol

I think in Gilbert and the main four the UK version literally nailed perfect casting. US version failed in every aspect because it was nothing more than a soulless remake, with no attention to detail in anything.

The 1st US Office season was terrible, but it found its feet, & Dwayne. The UK version was bad all along imo. But Shameless? Ugh, no comparison. No heart/realism. I heard the US even attempted a Father Ted.
