I really love the look but i am debating whether I should get these or a sigma 30mm prime for the AF as a photo+video use case. I don't mind MF when i use my helios which is i am confused whether i should get a cine lens or prime. Does it really matter if i shoot video on photo lens
This was a really good review, covering a lot of points about how you would practically use these lenses in real life, connected to performance. Really nice.
As always, best review out there my man! These are genuinely my first ever cine set. I’ve owned a few random cine lenses before but never a set, so rad!
Been shooting with the Fuji 16-55 & 501-40 lately but been itching to get some quality cinema glass for the price. Your video was the one that made me pull the trigger on getting this today. Great review!
Can't wait to get my hands on them. Right now, I am testing out X-mount cine glass with DZOfilm, Irix Cines in the pipeline. So Sirui is a very exciting option for me (especially as I really love the Anamorphic X-mount version). ...
I’d love to see a comparison between the Sirui Night Walker Cine T1.2 - 24,35,56 set to the Viltrox Cine T1.5 - 23,33.56 set and the Mitakon Speedmaster T1.0 MFT Cine 17,25,35,50 set. Let them battle it out.
I've got the entire kit with all 5 lenses. The 16mm and the 75mm are much sharper and contrasty with better colour almost at the level of the 7artisans vision that I have 35mm and 50mm but cost more than double. The 24mm, 35, 55mm of night Walker are much less sharp and kinda yellow skin tone. The only thing that I don't like of the kit are the gears are way too loose.
I haven't checked. I'll have to test that sometime in the future. For me, that spec doesn't matter as much, because I'm grading and balancing all the footage anyways. Plus, I'm using VND's a lot of the time which also alter the color balance.
Great review. I have 2 of the 7 Artisans, but these are really interesting to me. How are the color shifts between lens? Accurate or a little off? I want a set of their anamorphics as well, but I might give these a try soon.
I haven't tested the color consistency between the lenses. I'm not as concerned about that as I'm balancing and grading anyways, plus I use VND's a lot of the time which shift the colors as well.
as a fashion / concert / unit photographer I’m kinda stuck on these or the anamorphic. I mainly use my 7Artisians 35mm 1.2 (though i have used most Fuji lenses) what’s the framing like on these? Are they any better than their anamorphic series?
Nice review. I’m considering these lenses, but i shoot on a c100 mk2, i know its old, but i love it. Any ideas where there may be an adapter? I have looked all the usual places, but can’t seem to find an EF to *insert mount* E OR M4/3 etc, adapter. All the best and i hope this finds you well. Cheers
Unfortunately, according to my understanding, none of the mounts on this lens are adaptable to EF mount. I believe this is because of the flange distance, making it physically impossible.
The thing that I don't get is what is the actual difference between a cinema lens and a photo lens? Is it something artsy that I don't understand? My Canon photo lens can autofocus perfectly and the image quality is amazing. I'm seriously asking this question because I do photo and video. I did want to test out a faster lens so I ordered these not realizing they were super 35 and I have a full frame Canon R5C. That being said I'm considering keeping them and shooting in super 35 mode. I'm wondering though what the benefit would be other than the faster aperture? Then having to rig it up with a follow focus or by DJI's newer focus system. I do have their older one but it works with the gimbal alone.
Loved this video, was thinking about purchasing one of these lenses but had a question that may well help me decide. I wanted to shoot some portraits, like the smooth skin textures but I can't decide which lens is better suited for that. Would the 24mm still do fine or would a 35mm be the better option for me?
Have you looked into the Sirui Sniper Series lenses? Probably a much better option for shooting portraits, they seem similar to the Nightwalker but with autofocus, which would be handy especially when shooting photos at f1.2. If I were shooting solely portraits I'd probably go for the 35mm, but the 24mm is still my favorite all-around focal length for these.
I actually think I’d actually go for the 16mm! It’s a great focal length on the crop sensor for all around stuff. That or the 24mm would be a close second.
which lens for gh6 will be approximate as in conjunction with Sony fx3 with sigma 16 1.4? so that I can take a very high-quality video of yourself at arm's length with limited space?
@@EvanSchneider I appreciate the quick response! I am having a hard time getting into the world of camera and lenses and mounts etc. All I know is that I’m looking for a cinematic/cinema lens for my M50. I’ll keep looking though
“Pretty nice to use”? I appreciate the video and the time these thing stake to make but to be honest i find this kind of review very irritating. I appreciate that these lenses have been given to you and maybe you dont feel it appropriate to make direct comparisons with other lens manufacturers by direct comparison and name them but this advertorial style of review remains so vague and everything becomes so meaningless. Is the 35mm softer at f2 than your art series equivalent? Fringing?? Chromatic aberration? The lack of technicality and reference to other lenses make this a meaningless fluff piece simply because it says so little and uses phrases like “pretty nice” to describe most attributes. I get it you are keeping the lenses and like getting free gear but seriously a little more definitive detail and technicality would go a long way. If you are looking for a budget cine lens these could be good?? Maybe just put that up as text at the start and we could save a lot of time. Thx
It helps to watch the entire video. I go over many of these topics and share my opinions throughout. I even compared it to the Sigma Art photo lenses. Did you watch that part? I’d recommend before giving feedback like this, make sure the claims you’re making are accurate. I respect your opinion on my review, but a comment like this is harsh and unnecessary, especially since this is my first video of this type (which I also mention at the beginning of the video). I also said I’m happy to answer any questions, so if you’d like further info, you could just ask.
@@EvanSchneider i appreciate your response and i watched the entire video. I dont make the comments to be anything other than critically constructive. Nothing personal. That’s exactly how i would love reviews to be. Theres just not enough hours in the day to hope for something approaching a definitive opinion. So brands extend this marketing by giving youtubers products to “review”. It falls ideally to independents to do more than echo the same format. Use your experience to say why you do what you do. Be dogmatic have an opinion!! Sigma why? Why not fuji or canon. Is it price quality look design …. what? those flares Look so good
Yeah, super smooth!
Were you able to check WB and color between the three to see if they match? I worry consistency within the set is where Sirui may have cut cost.

If I had to choose just one for a crop sensor I’d probably go with the 24mm
Cool lens. Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
No problem 👍
anyone try an anamorphin adapter/filter with these?
I haven’t seen anyone do that yet
I use the sirui 1.25 adapter. On the 24 t1.2
If I had the money right now, I'd have already ordered a set tbh.

Love these lenses! Do the have RF mount for canon? Or would i need an adapter? Thank you for the video!
They're great! I have the X-Mount version for Fuji. They sell them in E/X/RF/MFT.
I hope they add on to this set, on the wider side
Yes, a wider one would be great!
How do these do against the 7artisan vision cine lenses?
I can't say personally, as I haven't used them or done a side by side comparison. Sorry!
im tempted to get the 24mm
