    Story 2:
This reminds me of something from when I first started working. I was 17 when I got my first job working at a franchise pizza place in a building with leased slots for businesses. The owners couldn't afford a Point of Sale system and everything was written down, including delivery addresses and such. I know this because the owner worked in the store alongside us and was willing to answer questions related to starting a business, including finances. All they had to ring up tickets was an old cash register. Furthermore, there was no dedicated cashier and everyone worked together to run the front counter and their own station. This is important as it means the front counter was not under constant supervision.
One night, a mexican family came in and placed an order. The two sons, early teens, translated for the parents and the family opted to wait in the car until their order was ready. My co-worker and I got started on making their order. As we put the order in the oven, we heard the bell on the front door ding so I went up front. Nobody was there. I thought nothing of it and went to cut the pizzas for another order that were coming out of the oven. I thought I heard the familiar sound of the cash register drawer sliding open as I put the finished order on top of the oven.
I dashed up front just in time to see the younger son dashing for the door with a wad of bills in hand. His parents opened the front door just as he ran while I shouted. He collided with his parents. The dad worked with broken English to smooth things over with the owner in hopes of the cops not getting called. An order for a small pizza next door came out and needed to be delivered while this was going on. I saw something that sticks with me to this day when I left the front of the store.
The mother had taken off her sandal and was literally beating her son's ass. If he gave any backtalk, she'd turn him around, give him a solid slap, and launch into a tirade. Afterwards, she went back to whooping him. I didn't study Spanish in high school, but I didn't need to know Spanish to understand what was happening. She took no prisoners and tolerated none of her son's excuses as he cried while under the onslaught of his mother's sandal. All the while, her other son was standing close by and watching everything unfold while looking a little green around the gills.
In the end, the cops were not called. The would-be thief boy was made to apologize to the owner. One brother's mistake became a lesson for both brothers; do not steal.

I used to work customer service… my boss told me that no one gets paid to be screamed and cussed at. He told us that we were within our rights to hang up on ignorant customers.

Good for your bossl 👏 I worked customer service many years ago, answering phones. During training, it was explained that we do not have to put up with abusive customers; if they're yelling, cussing, or even just being loud and rude, we are within our rights to hang up after one warning. Made the job much more tolerable.

I wish more bosses took that attitude, or doled out bonuses to employees who could survive that fresh hell.
People get treated like garbage for things they had no hand in all the time while handling phone calls in customer service. Just because a customer is upset doesn't give them an excuse to be belligerent and abusive, though. It's okay to be upset, it's not okay to take out your frustration on people in your path because of it.
A friend of mine who works at Wendy's was getting yelled at by a customer who was upset that a Grub Hub driver almost T-Boned his car pulling out of the Wendy's parking lot while he was turning in to get his two children (Who were in the car with him) and himself lunch at Wendy's. The guy was obviously up on adrenaline and super psyched out because his youngest child was on the side that almost got hit by the Grub Hub driver and was yelling at my friend, and my friend maintained composure and let the guy know "Dude, it's garbage that you and your kids were in danger, but your car is parked right now and you and your kids are safe as houses right now, could you please take a few deep breaths and lower your voice? No one here is responsible for what almost happened, just that ignorant Grub Hub driver who's long gone by now. Let me put in your order so you and your kids can have some food and relax, bro."
The guy seemed to calm down after this, apologized, made his order, and got his food and left. That was the day that young guy working at Wendy's became my friend, and I told his manager how awesome it was to see him face getting yelled at by an angry guy twice his size and still manage to calm things down and maintain composure.

I use to work front desk, at an association helping people.
I had to hung up on a few people. I was warning them first, when they didn't listen, I d tell them, I'm hanging up, call back when you are ready to speak to me with basic respect.
They would then call back, yell, get hung up on again and eventually start treating me like a human...
I was lucky to have the upper hand to be able to do that though.

He's at the kitchen table with an open beer and a bottle of my scotch and told me he was inspecting the place because he didn't trust us. We got the locks changed and refused to give him a copy. I have been a Christian parish pastor for about 30 years. At one of my parishes, we had a sanctuary that sat about 750 people. We were lucky to have 125 on any given Sunday. The sanctuary had a spit chancel that was about six feet in the air after the steps. On one side, we had the handbell choir. On the other, it was the vocal choir, Both myself and my wife were in the choir. Our three year old daughter, of course, was not. She played and climbed on the half walls of the spilt chancel (I know this is technical for non church goers...think pony walls that are waist high that separates the alter from the choir). I got several complaints (not from the choir) that she was playing and not in the nursery. Um...The Sunday choir practice was before anything else, and the nursery attendants were not in the building yet. 40 people around, loving the kid playing, mom and dad watching the director and the kid...SMH.

Sounds like the people who say "children should be seen and not heard" or maybe not seen at all. Kids gonna be kids, and any sane parent knows this. This was a practice, and how anyone could object to a three year old amusing herself is beyond me. I'm an old fart, too, but we were all that age once. Personally, I think there is no finer music than youngsters yelling, singing while they do the play that makes them our future.

Story 1: some call centers that are private companies with contracts to assist company employees with computers, equipment, etc are allowed to disconnect calls if the ones calling are berating us or anyone else. They are usually given a warning, then a second warning, and then we can tell them thanks for calling and disconnect. Usually we would follow it up with a report on said behavior and message their direct supervisor with the information. So working those call centers you *rarely* got an employee who was raging. However it still happened once in a blue moon and professionalism on our part ensures they cannot report us. General public? No. They could report you even when you did all you could to help them and still get reprimanded because of it.

I used to work in a call center. We could hang up and I did so a few times. To be able to do anything at all, we had to start by loading up the customer's account and verifying his identity. We simply could not provide any help at all to someone who could not show that he was the legitimate owner of an account. When we got an angry customer, we generally would start by cutting in and trying to guide them into giving us useful information to try and resolve the situation. Should that fail, we were then allowed to warn the customer to calm down or we would have to terminate the call.

It’s exactly that kind of behaviour that got me out of there a month earlier then i planned. Enraged people berating you without giving you a chance to help you first just breaks you down over time. I’ve met some REALLY thick people whilst shopping !
I met a woman who wanted to buy 1 kilo of tub of spreadable butter. The 500g ones were on offer, and she would save herself around £3.00 by buying 2 of those. “Yes but I want 1kilo” said she. I told her that TWO 500g tubs was 1 kilo, but she wouldn’t have it so I let her waste money on a big tub - obviously more money than sense !
Another woman had picked up 6 eggs for 99p and I said that you can get 15 eggs for £1.00.
She said that her 6 eggs were a better deal because it was LESS than a £1.00, so I tried to break it down for her and show her that for 1p more she could actually get another NINE eggs, but she insisted she was correct !
I was once in Asda (what Walmart is known as in Britain) and I saw an offer on cheesecake - £1.00 each OR THREE for £3.00. I asked a worker what was so special about the offer as I wouldn’t save anything by buying 3, even if I bought one and left, came back on another 2 occasions and bought one each time, I would have still spent £3.00, to which she replied “You don’t need to do that though, as you can buy 3 at the same time and it will only cost you £3.00 !”
I asked her if these cheesecakes were normally dearer than £1.00 each and she told me no.
So I asked her if I could have 3 cheesecakes for £2.50 and she said no, because the offer was 3 for £3.00 !
    God. Give. Me. Strength. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
And I found an absolute STEAL of an offer in Sainsbury’s a few years ago.
Aquafresh toothpaste in a pump action tube.
One for £4.75 or TWO for £3.50 !
It was a bit of a no-brainer so I bought 6, my sister bought 2 and so did her partner (both of them thinking that it would surely be limited to 2 per customer) - but of course it wasn’t as all mine went through just fine !
We saw people picking up just 1 tube and ending up paying more for it though !

I've never heard of someone selling custom-made cakes by weight, but I'd LOVE to see the kind of decadence that can be done with a 1 kilogram cake! 454 grams is one pound, that'd mean 908 grams is 2 pounds, so another 92 grams on top of a 2 pound cake would be a lot of room for toppings, icing, or special additions!
I like the metric system because its rules are incredibly consistent compared to imperial measurements, but I've always been horrible with judging measurements visually (Length, width, distances, weights, etc.) because for some reason I can only remember things by comparing to other things, I can't keep a consistent mental note of what each measurement is per unit for anything. I can't remember inches or centimeters by memory, I have to remember how long or how wide things are compared to my body (Finger lengths, finger width, limb length/width, etc., always a comparison, though I know I'm 5'11" tall I don't have a mental note of my proportions of leg length, torso length, hand/arm/bicep length, etc.). Maybe if I was raised with Metric measurements instead of Imperial I'd have had a more consistent framework for remembering and judging measurements off the top of my head.

Stoyr #4, landowners are required by law in most places to provide potable drinking water and safe washing water for their tenants. Shutting off the water is illegal. Most places also have laws codifying tenants' rights, which includes the landlord NOT being allowed to go through their stuff, or even to enter into their home, without advanced notice and permission (save only genuine emergency, such as needing to shut off the water and fix a burst water pipe while the tenant is out of town).

2:40 that's not essentially true. Every customer service I worked allowed you to hang up on customers in specific situations. For example, we weren't obligated to take crap from customers. Usually you'd have to inform a customer something along the line of "tone it down or I will have to terminate the call" and if the abuse doesn't stop, you go "as per my previous warning I'll have to end the call here" and u can hang up fully justified.

My grandma does too. I hate when people trash all landlords because my grandma is awesome. She goes out of her way to provide for her tenants. There certainly are bad ones, but the good ones are trying to earn a living too. Bad tenants can cause a lot of long term damage that may never be fixed. If a tenant is has zero money and wrecks the place, that landlord is not going to be able to cover the cost. Even if you sue the person, you can't make money magically come from a broke person.

I've bought more than a few cakes in the past, I've never seen them ordered any other way than by weight. Weight allows you to calculate the size of the cake based on how many people will be eating. The usual number is 10 to 12 people per kilogram.
Bakers will always ask you for how many people the cake is and suggest a size. Then they'll bake it according to your request, not falling short but not exceeding it by more than a few grams. I've never had a problem with that system, by the way.

The guy with the Hungarian Woman as a landlord reminds me of the neighbor from hell whose name was Margaret Romano. She had a couple of rooms in her upstairs that she would rent out periodically to some young person or other. I heard quite a few stories about how she would use her key almost every time they would leave to go into the apartment and Snoop around. In one case in particular she berated a fellow as to why he had condoms in a dresser drawer. She never could keep those people around for very long. At one point I had a bicycle which I had applied a chain to to attach it to a signpost so that I could get to and from work. I came out to find drywall screws hammered into my tires. At least seven each. That night it was gone. I found out much later had been hauled off by the police at her call. She also vandalized a neighbor's Vespa twice, rendering that undrivable. But this woman was just an absolute horror to most of her neighbors. Very much like this Hungarian woman here. By the way, I forgot to mention that she kept John Gotti's attorney firm on retainer, and was always trying to figure out what my name was so that she could file all kinds of false claims against me. I found that was kind of a hobby of hers as many people had been taken to court by her up and down the block. Fortunately, she had a series of Strokes just before the misses and I were moving out to go to another state, so all the old mail that I was Hoarding in our apartment because of addresses all over them could then be discarded just before we left. I found out she died two days before we completed our move back to another state that I came from.
My wife and I went back to that neighborhood to visit some of her old friends and family members, and we found that the house that Miss Romano lived in (yes she died an old maid), had been torn down and excavated to make way for something else.
    The wicked die hard.

Air horns are capable of damaging ears and causing pain to them.
However, that guy cutting in front of the semi truck could have gotten himself run over by AT LEAST 17 tons of steel (up to 40 tons of weight when loaded).
his stunt could have turned him into a pancake, but he's pissed off at the driver for being upset about it.
Depending on the length he held the horn on for, it might been unwarranted. But that man was unreasonably upset about it, given the circumstances.
