- Crappie fishing in the winter can still be very productive. Today we are targeting crappie in cold water going slow and a jig to pull crappie out of cover near deep water using Garmin Livescope. I'm taking these crappie home for a new a delicious recipe with my wife that has become my new favorite way to eat crappie!

Would love to see you do a bank fishing or dock fishing crappie video. As someone who doesnt own a boat, trying to locate crappie from a bank or dock can be tough sometimes and would like some tips on that. Keep up the great content!
Hey man I feel ya but always try somewhere where’s there’s depth of wood in the water like a downed tree or under a dock they eat the spawn that eat off the algae

Lews got it right with their hook keepers. They placed it below the handle, between handle and the butt of the rod. No issues snagging the line while casting braid. Also, as a Wisconsinite Spotted Cow is #1!!

That dish needs to be the title recipe on the next OSG cook book.
The technique I use is a cheap cast iron skillet on a super hot grill. When the grill is hot, put the griddle on and wait til it smokes, then put your fish on. The fish take a bath in 1/2 & 1/2 melted butter and olive oil And then seasoned. Hint, a long handled spatula and a welders glove let you keep your arm hair. It is fun due to the smoke clouds and occasional flare-ups of burning oil. A filet cooks in a couple of minutes per side.

What up lfg it's been a while since I've watched a fishing video I'm kind of done with bass fishing.. I've been watching it since I was a little kid when bassmaster started (it's more of a pissing contest nowadays)!! I'm 48 years old and I like food....you make it fun for people to learn how to bring food home for their family!! And keep it fresh by doing some tasty catch and Cooks.. can't wait to see some cold water paper lip crappies hit the oil!! Personally I would have gone with cheesy hash brown bake,... but I'm a fat ass 6 ft 260 lb!! Food enthusiasts!!

I pinch the barb on my hooks when I’m crappie fishing so it’s easier to unhook and it don’t mess up your plastic.

Here's an easier way to do the uni. Take a drop shot weight, affix your braid to it and then let the weight do the looping around the floro loop. It's very fast and I've not lost a leader this way

LFG, when your kiddos are too young to like the spicy blackened fish- I have a fix for you! There is a Greek seasoning blend called Cavenders (sp?) that is really good as a substitute for the hotter Cajun blends. Of course you cook them first, cause the spices will only enhance the Cajun, while the opposite would be no Bueno! Used it for my son and MIL with great success!
You could put the hook keeper on the blank part in-between the reel seat and the but of the rod

Tying the Alberto is something I’ve always struggled with. I could never cinch it down correctly. I got tired of trying, so I stick with the double uni. I know it isn’t as strong as the Alberto, but I have more confidence in it. Sometimes that’s all it takes is confidence in the equipment!

Hook keepers on the underside of where they are now and you are good to go. That's how my St. Croixs are and it's perfect. I
For the hook keeper put it where Lew’s keep it. They keep it under the handle In my opinion that is the best place.

Fun fact, if you put a little oil in the pan with your butter it will keep it from burning. of course then you have both butter and oil, but I'm sure there is a healthy mixture OSG would approve of

I was out today testing my new to me bass boat. And had made a good run and was vertical fishing some crappie, cold front coming in so I brought my rain gear. I noticed it started drizzling so I went to put on my rain gear just to question "where did I put my rain gear?" Soon to realize I left it on the rear deck and it is now floating somewhere on Santee Cooper lake Marion, and I had a very cold wet run back to the landing. And a new set of rain gear on the way. But still had a great day fishing
I love Spotted Cow! Wish I could find a place closer to home that has it. Regardless, a cold one with a healthy dose of crappie sounds pretty good right about now!

Fire croppie fishing straight slabs
I watched the line catch on the hook keeper to. I use all spinning rods because I just never put in the time on a bait caster. Instead of bringing it close to the handle what about putting it above the first eye? Or closer to the first eye. I always hook them to that eye anyhow. Have an open keeper you can slip the hook on without taking apart the plastic maybe. Moving it away from the handle is what we are used to anyhow. Just a thought. I like a sensitive rod for all my fishing. I believe it makes for a better fight.

What about putting the hook keeper below the primary grip in the split grip section...there's a few other companies that do that already such as Temple Fork Outfitters, Phenix, and a few others
On the bubba blade i use blades from an old cheapo filet knife thats not as sharp. Wont eat through Smaller fragile fish like sacalait and speckled trout(im from louisiana) like those super sharp bubba blades.

Try putting it at the bottom of the handle I noticed it kind of stays out of the way if you can put it right about where your hand doesn't grab when you cast it

I was just thinking that Googan needed to make some ultra light rods for crappie fishing. Now it looks like another rod I need to add to the arsenal

Next time add a tblp of oil into the butter, can get higher temp without the butter burning.
