i just started watching your channel, and i want you to know, its great to hear you try and eliminate words like UMM. I wish the rest of my country wiuld as well as words like, like. It reflects someone who wishes to grow and is reflective of tgeir flaws. Thats being said-youre aware, and thats enough. DONT WORRY ABOUT IT! Your work and videos have inspired me to sharpen my cheap tools and pick up carving. I have beautiful planes, chisels, etc. and am self teaching flat eork such as furniture making. I came from glass engraving, however, and really want to get into the more artistic aspects of woodworking, and I really want to thank you for the kick in the ass I needed to hone up my cheap knives and begin flinging some chips!
Cheers for the kind message! What we say is what is going on in our minds and I am trying to be aware of the speech I use to articulate my thoughts. In German we have the same issue. Managingless fill words are common and meant to make ones statements less strong and thus seemingly more diplomatic. For more resources of my system check out boon.tv/woodsmansfinest
Congrats on the 30k followers on Instagram! Max is a great creator and woodsman. Hope you all follow him and support the work of artists/creators in whatever your passionate about. His boon.tv content is great and worth the cost of subscribing.
Great video, a no fancy workshop to show you can just carve spoons in your back yard. That basic kit is all you really need and beginners and folks on low budget like myself can get all kitted out cheaply enough. Also if you really get into spoon carving then you can buy the more expensive kit if you really wanted to. The video was exactly what the title said, good job and new subscriber 👍
My budget kit that I use right now is: A super cheap hand axe, don't remember how much but sub $20 A carving knife kit from Amazon which consisted of a hook knife, a detail knife and a sloyd. Also sub $20. And my most recent addition of three cabinet scrapers, also Amazon and those were $17.
Happy thanksgiving. I’ve been carving for a month and started with homemade tools and just got a beaver craft spoon carving set and love them. Now I want a good carving hatchet for the lowest price . Great video
Patience and some appreciation for folks who teach you something for free that they spent years on learning and then hours to create a video that you get to complain about. Merry Xmas!
Been following on Instagram for a little bit and just got over here to check out your videos. Great channel! I'm having a great time checking out your content here. I love this series, it's great to hear honest opinions of different tools. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. There are many people out there who love just saying something negative when they feel frustrated about themselves. Everyone should just be grateful for people creating free content to watch and learn from, or not. Cheers
how long ago did you first pick up your first piece of wood with your first spoon carving tool and stock how many years ago was that this is 2019 I'm curious because you seem to be traveling a lot and how does somebody get to that particular point where they can do that and how long will they have to be doing that and how did you start out do a biography about that how you started out how many hours a day did you first start out with you know and all the all the ups and downs that you went through that would make a nice biography video thank you and I really enjoy your videos
If you would please answer me. What is your favorite go to axe for your roughing I. Your spoons. Please provide a link to only that 1 axe.... please be specific... Thank you
It is my craftcarver... That's what I designed it to do and that's what it does so well... However, since the availability is tough right now... Wait a few weeks and I think I'll have an answer for you that will work better!
+Steve Stephen thank You! I'm glad to hear that... I'm not a videographer and dont have time and money to invest in slides and stabilizers... but a polarizing filter and at least a small microphone and some speed and music variations are always possible! As long as you folks support the channel I can put out tutorials! Cheers

+Steve Tackett nice question! It is a seiko skx 007 I customized to look more like a squale 1521. I'm a big watch guy and edc proponent ... but I don't get as much new gear as I used to... there are some videos about that way back! Wondering if I should do more!
I really wanted to watch your video and learn BUT after 5 minuites I gave up because you hadn't started to teach. Sorry it was not a 'crisp' presentation it was so drawn out.
@@tonyb83 feedback taken... Still... You got info for free that's taken me time and money to produce. You get that right? But you can't hold out for a few minutes?
@@woodsmansfinest3814 That's exactly my point, and I am trying to be constructive here. Time is preciuos, especially to the elderly like me who want to learn from the huge ammount of knowledge like yours on youtube which you generousely give your time, effort and money to give to all of us. Because many of us don't have 'all the time in the world' to 'hold out for a few minuites' we like teachers to get to the teaching as quickly as possible. Your subject is great but there is a lot of preamble in your videos before you get to the teaching, which adds up to lots of time 'to hold out' before you get to the teaching.
@@tonyb83 watch my newer videos before concluding. Have you supported my channel in any way so far btw talking about the amount of time and money I invest? Just wondering...

Very informative video for beginners on budget. Thanks. Very nice of you.

Great channel I just found your page. With all the languages you speak I would say you are an expert. Keep up the good work.
Much obliged! Experts are folks with experience in a certain field... Doesn't mean I'm not learning daily. Cheers for the comment.

Incredibly helpful to see all of it laid out so simply, without getting into too many specialty/optional tools. Thanks!

good video. Thanks
Are left handed hook knives available?
Yes of course. Every maker I am presenting on this channel is making left handed knives.
Okay so will you be getting in touch with me or when do you want me to get in touch with you
I will contact you! Please write me an email to woodsmansfinest@outlook.com about what you plan on doing with the axe. Cheers
Great video as always!!
When you use "green/wet wood" how do you keep it from splitting and cracking when it dries?
Green Man coming up in a video in a bit. Stay tuned!

In the beginning you drank out of a ceramic cup instead of a kuksa. What gives?
Lol... You think I only own wooden stuff? Was made by a local artist.
