Best goblet video i have seen!! Remarkable skew work. I was so consumed with watching g your skillful work that when you drilled the first hole in goblet support cup and made that error with drill bit i yelled out and expletive and my wife asked me what’s wrong. Great job. Wish I had some of your skills
Good morning. Couple things. First, your work is absolutely fantastic. Next month is my one year anniversary of turning. Each morning before I go out to my shop I take an hour and watch your work. I have learned a lot from watching you. There’s a lot of things that you say and do that I apply to my work. Things like how clean is the cut straight off the tool. Or when to take a heavy cut vs a not so heavy cut. I’m getting to the point where I can start my sanding with 180 or 120 grit. Slowly things are coming together as far as my skill level. So, I thank you for sharing your expertise. Everyone like me who is teaching themselves needs a mentor. You are my mentor and my inspiration. Thank you.
Mr.Keith thank you very much for these kind words and support on what I do.... This was really a great boost for me and I'm just honored I could help out ☺️
Very cool project and I really like your approach to this month's challenge. I really like making multi-piece goblets, they are fun and provide the opportunity to use multiple types of wood or resin for the individual components. It's really interesting once again to see each of your takes on the project for the month. Really like your solution for the issue with the drill bit -- it's not that experienced craftsman don't make mistakes, it's how they recover from them -- you did it masterfully. Yours is the third of the four I've watched, now off to watch Sam Angelo's approach to this.
Beautiful goblet. Love the cup fitting down into a cradle. Most turn a tenon on top of the stem to fit into the bottom of the cup. This is a new approach that I may well have to use in the future. Excellent work. Thank you for sharing.
I very much enjoy watching all your content. The pieces the four of you do are informative and inspiring. I have learned a lot . Thank you for all your work in producing your videos.
Awesome is an under statement. I am making some goblets all from solid pieces never tried 2 different kinds of woods but you gave me an idea for some with garnet inlay.
Really enjoyed this tommi. Contrasting Timbers was a good choice, goes well together. Few errors were fixed up quite well. You wouldn’t even know about them. You used a continental roughing gouge at the beginning not a detail gouge. Small point but it may confuse new turners. Thanks for sharing.
I like the turning but not sure about the holes. Too bad you had to do a "design change" but hey there is always an option. At least you showed that not everything goes to plan, how often have most of us been there. Always interesting watching you.
Beautiful design, really like the contrast of the different wood! Enjoy watching your work with the skew ….. very impressive, maybe someday I’ll be half as good 🥴. Thank you for sharing your skills 🤠🇨🇱
Nice job finessing the fit! I personally like it the way it is. Not a big fan of paint. But that's me. And I don't have any artistic sense either so take that for what it's worth. Thanks for all you show us.
Whenever woodturner says this will be interesting..it means it will be a pita. Lol isn't that the truth! I just happen to have one of those on my lathe right now as well.
Do you start with a clear image of the final design or is each movement inspired by the previous one? I've had the same thoughts about sculptors and painters. Do they see their piece completed before they begin work or are they revealed as they go? I am an experienced woodworker, but I tend to rely on design sketches for most of my work. To improve, I think I must cultivate a different approach to woodturning.
Very good question, I don't know about others but I Usually start with rough idea, direction in which I start...now sometimes I do sketch on white board shape that I have in mind, or something similar in sort of 1:1 proportions, and I see if it will work.... But more often then not I would go step by step and see what I have in mind when I get to next step, like foot details.... Then shape, sometimes mistake will have better design then original idea, just be willing to see that and not fight it.... That is my approch...if I don't like it ,I can always grab another wood and start over.
Hello Tomislav, Sorry to be a bit late on my viewing, but I had a lot of work to do; although this series is not to be considered a competition, I have to say that esthetically wise, your gobelet wins my preference. I enjoyed the close-up shots that really help improving the use of the skew to finalyse the shapes, a great demo of your skills. I also appreciated how you dealt with the broken hole, I saw myself having to take advantage of unplanned designs. I also believe that the result is far better without paint. One question (not about this video) pertaining to "gouge sizes", do you and Richard talk about bar size or flute size ? I always wonder since the americans use the exterior size and the british the flute. warm regards
Not artistic? I think you have a natural eye for shape and proportion. People often overlook thier strongest talents because, to them, it takes little effort.
I was holding my breath quite a few times when you were testing the limits of how thin you could go and what the breaking points were. That design opportunity was to your advantage to gauge the fit of the cup into the stem. Well planned 🤪😊. I hope you don't paint it. It looks fantastic just with the design and contrast of the wood.
Decoration and elegance should always be in balance. Look at a gothic cathedral - long sweeping lines and finely carved finials and corbels. Keep up the excellent work Tomislav!
I love the 4-way series. Great to see how different turners approach a challenge.
WOW! What an awesome goblet! Your touch with the skew chisel is outstanding. Great job!
Thank you, still a lot to learn but I enjoy practice
Methinks the apprentice hath surpassed the master with this project!

Thank you very much, I really appriciate that ☺️
Very good Tomislav something that takes patience and lots of tea to keep the frustration down.
Aaa yes that is true... But I'm at the stage where if I messed up I can still find use for it ...at least as a jam Chuck or oil pot😅
Nicely done tomislav love the shape 👍
Thanks Will, 😉
Nice save with the design change! Looking ready for Dumbledor’s wine! 🍷
Thank you
Interesting and very nice save! The contrast between the two woods makes it really pop!
Take care, Dave
Thank you Dave 😀
Absolutely beautiful and so slim/dainty 😍 it!
You are so talented I'm off to discover more of your channel 😃
Thank you very much, for taking time to watch my videos
Very, VERY nicely done. Love the two tones and the light and airy shaping.
Thanks 😀

Absolutely bloody marvelous. I just cannot find the words that expresses your talent. One day I will be as good as you...I hope
Thank you very much, its just practice and I still have a lot to learn 👍
I am very pleased with the goblet. Beautiful design!
Thank you very much
A very nice recover good job .
Great job Tomislav! I've still learning, but design changes and figuring out how to make it work is one of my favorite parts of turning!
Thank you, I also enjoy that as I feel makes me better at design and figureing what do to with whats left on the blank
Elegant. Amazing the differences in the 4-ways. All unique, all fun projects. Thanks.
Thanks for watching and support what we do ☺️
This turned out great! Thank you for all the videos you do for us.

🕶nice design recovery. Thanks Tomislav I really enjoy all the 4 ways videos.
Thank you Steven for watching and support what we do ☺️
Mulberry is a beautiful wood for contours. Combined with maple. Makes me happy :)
A beautiful flower
Thank you
Beautiful design, Tomi. The contrasting wood looks great. Fitting the two pieces looks challenging.
Thanks Mike, it wasn't that bad as I thought 😅
12:05 “That looks okish “ 😂 That’s how I describe all my turnings.
🤣
love it . Matching the curves was tricky !
Thanks Tony, went essier then expected😂
I think you are very artistic - well done:)
Thank you 😀

Thank you Mark for watching 4 ways and support what we do ☺️
The "mistake" ended up making it a more beautiful design! I love the contrasting woods, and would not have considered mulberry, but it looks great.
Thank you, Mulberry was biggest dry blank I had,and luckly was different color 😅
"Design opportunity" is something I need to add to my vocabulary now. :D
Lovely piece. The contrasting wood colors are a wonderful pairing.
Thank you sir
Love this! It turned out great, I really loved this video!
Thank you very much
0:09 Wonderful design and demonstration of technique. The video is superb. Very informative.

Very nice Tom very intricate work.
I think you are quite artistic! Great, instructive videos. Thanks 👍
You are an artistic person! I absolutely love this

Thank you,glad you liked it
Your skill is amazing.

You always take it to the next level!
Thank you sir
Don't twist it! LOL Beautiful design and execution!
Thank you😉

Thanks Greg,I was thinking about continental but probably mouth had different idea😅 thank you very much for watching
This is really nice. You say you’re not much of an artist but I disagree. Your shapes and curves are very artistic.
Thank you very much 😀
Absolutely beautiful.
I like the turning but not sure about the holes. Too bad you had to do a "design change" but hey there is always an option. At least you showed that not everything goes to plan, how often have most of us been there. Always interesting watching you.

Love your vision.
Very cool. Love these challenges.
Thank you 😉
It was almost as if I had drilled the cup... That was one of those happy accidents. It's a lovely thing.
Thank you, happens a lot so we need to make the best out of it 😉
Thanks! Love these 4 Ways projects!!
Thank you very much
That is certainty lovely ❤
wow, this is new level! really cool!
Thank you very much
What a job Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 🤗
A contour gauge could be useful in getting the bottom profile of the cup. Nice project!
Indeed, yes, but I only did one goblet so I did it manualy but if I would do more then one then template would speed up the process
Amazing!!
Thanks!
From Jonathan Klein
Mr.Klein ,thank you very much for generous donation.
Thank you
Whenever woodturner says this will be interesting..it means it will be a pita. Lol isn't that the truth! I just happen to have one of those on my lathe right now as well.
Uff hang in there 😅 thank you very much

Thank you Alain, I appriciate that very much, I always say diameter of the tool and I think Richard mostly referse to flute dimentions.
Would it be an idea to cut a profile guide for the inside and outside curves of the “ball and socket” part out of cardboard beforehand?
Sure, that is good idea ,I just wasn't sure what I'll do,I had rough idea . But templates could help out, especially if you make more then one
That’s always true. I have my best ideas after I finish a project :)
😊 Класс
Not artistic? I think you have a natural eye for shape and proportion. People often overlook thier strongest talents because, to them, it takes little effort.
Thank you, appriciate that very much 🤗
Have you ever considered turning a smoking pipe?
Honest I haven't,if I got an order for one I might do it😅
I was holding my breath quite a few times when you were testing the limits of how thin you could go and what the breaking points were. Thank you very much, for now I won't paint☺️
The stem of the goblet is way too plain, should have much more embellishment!
I like simple lines and shapes....but it could be better
Decoration and elegance should always be in balance. Look at a gothic cathedral - long sweeping lines and finely carved finials and corbels. Keep up the excellent work Tomislav!
@@BasiliskFilm thank you 😉
