Has always thanks for sharing your knowledge and skill, I always learn something new watching your videos. And what a lovely job you did making the garlic box .
Very interesting design for this project. I really like how you hid the vent holes in the knob. That beech is very pretty wood. Seeing how you resolved issues with warping was very instructive. Yours was the final one of the four videos I have seen. Each one of you provided a really interesting take on this project. Thank-you all for your efforts for these videos.
Really nice, great work as always Tomislav. I really like how you went from a rough design idea and refined it to your final version. That’s the great thing about creating, it’s not a perfect process, it comes down to the your own creative eye.
Thanks tomislav. Very unusual box container. It certainly gave you a few troubles and problems. Your treatments of the warping and fit were extremely well done.
When I watched Richard's first I really liked the idea. I hadn't heard of a garlic container, before, but I always appreciate traditional objects that still could be useful, today. Then you took a great idea that I thought might be a humble dish with cover and it turned out an elegant and detail packed luxury item. :) Too bad about the split, glad it held. Very good first four ways in your new shop, Tomislav.
Great work Tomi! I love when you keep in the parts where you are working out the puzzle in your mind out loud. I enjoy seeing your thoughts on design and purpose, not just the end results. Good stuff buddy.
As always very interesting to see the four of you come uo with different ways to do the same thing. You overcame the problems (design opportunities) and turned them into a learning moment for all of us. Thanks for another excellent video.
Very nice Tomislav. Canister type similar to Sam and Mike but very different lid. I like it. You guys are great doing this each month. great ideas from each of you. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Nice design. Great woodwork as well as a nice piece of wood. I really like how most of your demos are in real time with no guitar. I learn something new from each video. Thanks for the lessons.
WOW! I have never turned a square blank that fast. Great job. It's interesting that all four of you did the garlic keeper and no one did butter. Your design looks just fine.
Hi Tomi, great work as always - but could you do something for me (and possibly others) - can you brush all the wood shavings off your arms please. My wife says you look like the 'wood-shaving BEAR!' with your arms covered in flakes of wood. I'm sure you will look a lot better without your 'man glitter'! All the very best and please keep up the good work. Phil from South West England.
😂😂😂 thanks Phil, I was never called bear before.... Its super hot last few weeks and working in smock is a no no so naturally shavings will cought up in arm hair, its normal and If I clean it all the time I would not have done anything.... Bear has thick hair as insulation,I have my shavings 🤣
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning It was only said in fun - your are not a brear - but clean arms look nicer I think. After all it is your work that matters really. Phil
Beautiful shape and although I personally like simplicity over too much detail, you have done it very tastefully. Question: You mentioned about the issues with using cross grain. Would that not be your usual preference for a box? Thanks 😊
Thank you very much. For smaller sizes , less then 80mm I like using endgrain orientation for boxes, for bigger stuff cross grain due to size and easier way to find wood for the job
I like the shape, it reminds me of an old fashioned aluminum cakeplate with a lid. I was hoping you would make a garlic keeper that is shaped like a garlic bulb. Just a thought, try shortening the top so the beads rest on the base. Where do you get your lumber? That was a nice looking beech blank.
About the beeswax - I’ve been able to find a small, inexpensive block of pure beeswax from people that make cosmetics. Anyone who doesn’t have beekeepers locally, maybe a cosmetics company could source some for you?
In my opinion, I don’t think that is a bearing. This lathe is run by a servo motor. Which makes makes a frequency noise as it constantly ramps up and down to compensate for torque demand. It is a lot different sounding motor than what we are used to anyway. But the frequency drive, is what I think we are hearing. The microphone naturally is picking up that frequency and it sounds a-lot louder on video than in person. IMO.
It can happen, the new Bearings and spindle are on the way and they customers servise is awsome so far.... Lathe is super quallity,I just got the one with malfunctional bearings 😅, we shall see after replacement
Spoiler alert! When I was watching your video, I was like Holy Crap he's turning in his pizza underwear! Whatever man, you've got more balls than me (literally) lol, but I'm not into that! Nice Beech box!

Thanks Jason, it was fun to do and travel away from common usual work ☺️
Great work Tomi! I love when you keep in the parts where you are working out the puzzle in your mind out loud. I enjoy seeing your thoughts on design and purpose, not just the end results. Good stuff buddy.
Thanks buddy, I really appriciate that and I'll try to speak whats on the mind more in terms of design😉

This turned out beautifully and really nicely done. I really like the design and simplicity. Thank you for sharing the adventure.

Thanks ☺️ We now have butter keeper for another video 😀
I thought it was a bit fiddly - but the finished piece is really unique - I like it!!!
Great job Tomislav
I'm going to use this idea for a few projects I have.
You are too harsh on yourself! It's brilliant. Thank you for explaining the fit issue after the warping. Very helpful
You are amazing Super Man. That is so awesome
Thank je 😀

Very nice, I love the design, of see the other three.
Очень круто!
Great design and lovely work!
I'm glad you changed the design. I like the modified version much better than your original thoughts.

Ah ok thank you for explaining 😊
Great, there are just no words

Where do you get your lumber? That was a nice looking beech blank.
Thank you very much, It was one of the ideas.
For these slabs I buy them at hardwood store,it can be expensive but the beech is on the cheaper spectar
Hello to you from NY USA . Which kind of wood that you don't recommend for small delicate project like this one?
Any hardwood is ok, find what is locally available in your area
As always Beautiful work. I have a question about how much citrus solvent to tung oil do you suggest? And how long does it take for it to dry? ❤
Thank you, its roughly 50/50, its dry like any other oil in 12-24h but full curness is in few days atleast
Nice. Enjoy it
Very Nice
Thanks!
About the beeswax - I’ve been able to find a small, inexpensive block of pure beeswax from people that make cosmetics. Anyone who doesn’t have beekeepers locally, maybe a cosmetics company could source some for you?
Thank you,I have been using that for years😉 I'll find some more just to have it in stock

Could be, new Bearings are on the way and I'll do a video on this so should be interesting to see if it makes a differents
Gauging by the noise your Harvey lathe makes I sure am glad I didn’t get a Harvey!
New Bearings are on the way and spindle so I'll do a video on replacing.
Its high quallity lathe ,I just got the one with bad bearings 😅
Great work, but that lathe bearing is very loud. Not a good advertisement for the manufacturer.
It can happen, the new Bearings and spindle are on the way and they customers servise is awsome so far.... Lathe is super quallity,I just got the one with malfunctional bearings 😅, we shall see after replacement
I like the container and the video title. If you have no Vampires it must be working.
Yeah, but he now has an infestation of Frenchmen.
Spoiler alert! When I was watching your video, I was like Holy Crap he's turning in his pizza underwear! Whatever man, you've got more balls than me (literally) lol, but I'm not into that! Nice Beech box!
Please reply with your mailing address, bees wax will arrive shortly.
Thanks a lot, but I did find online store here in Croatia, thank you anyway ☺️
