Not a bad first away game for me !!
I went to see 'my boys' play against the 'super stars' of "Best", "Moore" and "Marsh" and came away with the biggest grin on my face ever!

And Fulham with the likes of Best and Moore in the side. Did Marsh play that day?

yes, you'll notice he took the corner for the Fulham goal, by then they were already 5-0 down.
Had to laugh when the great commentator Brian Moore declared that this made the score line a little more respectable. Or maybe, Fulham played their part in a 6 goal thriller, lol.!!
Note the look of shock and disbelief on the Fulham boss's face when County slammed in the 4th goal,.... seconds into the 2nd half.

Played with him for Hucknall town for one season 1991/92. We won a trophy. Mick was super fit and a great bloke.

i'm a preston fan and i'll always remember a great goal he scored at deepdale in 1978/9. cutting in from the right past a couple of defenders and planting it in the far corner.

I remember Notts County's keeper Eric McManus from the mid/late 70's. He saved a few penalties against us at The Valley including one in an FA Cup game. We never seemed to do well against County.

What a second goal! A scorcher!

Shame! Pity that County's 5th goal was omitted.
Sad and shocking to see the mighty Bobby Moore making some terrible, basic errors - caught in possession and losing the ball for the 3rd and 4th goals. And like the left back, they both back tracked and made no challenge at all to the on coming midfielder who hammered in the 2nd.
Start of the 2nd half and then the 4th goal, notice half a chant of
    ''what a load of rubbish!''
I think the novelty of Best, Moore and Marsh had worn off; they were
largely passengers stealing a living. Moore should have quit the game
years before, sad to see him living off past memories.

Then the next home game Fulham hammered Oldham and the "Best/Marsh/Moore Roadshow" was up and running again.

He was using his knee ''injury'' as an excuse.

He went off injured after an hour when it was 5-0. Forward John Mitchell went in goal and didn't concede - though he was barely tested

Raymond bonington thats an understatement. Tbh i had always thought bobby moore was over rated. The difference was bobby couldnt play as good as george best after a long night on the town together the night before. Becouse george best was blessed with pure natural skill. That chip he scored against oxfard for fulham was just genius and on a hard icy park. Best with about 14 players around him when he got the ball 25 yards out went to chip it but didnt, he dummied it and moved a yard or two forward and beat a player in doing so then he chipped the goal keeper from 23 yards out and it hit the crossbar and down into the net. What i didnt notice was best did the dummy and moved forward a yard or two becouse a fulham player was offside, so best held it till the player ran out to be on side. It was brian moore the great commentator that saw it and described it when he showed the replay goal. Best really had a fantastic football brain. If there was such a creature as a complete footballer then George Best is the closest i have seen to the perfect player. Best had the lot- To be able to hold the ball while doing dummys and fients and swerves and dropping his shoulder as if to go one way to then go the other then to spot a player thats 'just' and i mean 'just' offside is just awe some. Theres not many great players that can do that never mind average players. George best had the lot. Skill, timing, speed, flair, bravery, great with both feet, could tackle, had remarkable speed of thought, great in the air, and he could score goals. Some very skilfull players lack a finish, but best had total self-believe. He was simply sensational, without any obvious flaw that i could see. Once he was clear, best rarely wasted a shot. Best's dribbling skills were such that he could take the ball up to an opponent and in one flash he was past his man and away. The fact he was capable of running at defenders on either side of the pitch or setting of on a diagonal run across the defence , becouse of his electrifying burst of speed, made him almost impossible to man mark. But if there is such a creature as a complete footballer, George Best is the closest i have seen to the perfect player. He was a night mare to play against, becouse he was a mix of everything. You never knew what he was planning to do next. Rip george. Rip bobby and thancks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Four very bad errors in this game, no different to when
he played for West Ham and England, very inconsistent....
in truth, he had no pace - knock the ball past him and he's done.
