Thank you for speaking the truth about this nasty fluff. As a French native, born and raised in Paris, I can assure you that Emily in Paris is a ridiculous bunch of the cheapest stereotypes... Please note that no French person would be caught wearing a béret, let alone a RED one 🤣🤣🤣
Great video although I never took “ Emily in Paris “ seriously. It’s a light hearted show. I watch it when relaxing . It puts me in a happy mood. All you stated is true ; but just watch it for the fashion, romance, and comedy. 😊
@@adrielfeliseabsolutely not true. There is a black gay man in the office. A lesbian/bi-sexual. An Asian woman as near-lead. Emily dated a black man. A latino man. Facts are important when criticizing.
What fashion? Sorry again to break it to you, but NO French person dresses like Emily in Paris. Real Parisians can only be annoyed, to say the least, by those ridiculous stereotypes.
Hey Adriel, great video! Enjoy hearing your point of view. By the way, love your pink lipstick! As a brunette, finding the “right” pink is a little tricky. It looks great on you! Keep up the good work.
Outstanding video! Thank you for sharing your critique about "Emily in Paris." You provided constructive criticism and you clarified a lot about Paris and Parisians.
Great information, when It came to the outfit with the big brim black hat, and the mask, I think of the restaurant McDonalds,, there was an old commercial and there was a character called the hamburgler ..that’s who it reminds me of…very strange look to me..😅
But... also, cultural references to 17/18 centuries I think: masked ball, hooped half-skirt (exaggerated hip/waist), highwayman, juggler/jester - I see a clever use of masculine/Feminine twist & European social eras; not that I would wear it! I just appreciate it 😊
I loved this video, so fun! I would be very interested on your take of how they dressed the Sylvie Grateau character, I especially like her accessories and am obssessed with her apartment; I know it's a set but I want that apartment.
Sylvie is super French and super chic. I would say both Sylvie and Camille's style is very Parisian. Maybe a bit nicer than the average Parisian, but still the style is very much in line with Parisian style. At times, Sylvie's outfits are a bit sexy (like the huge slits up the skirts at work), but there's no shame in that game; be sexy!
Come on, it’s an entertainment show! And walking in the rain in Paris is amazing, I love it. One thing I definitely agree with you on - yes, Italian men are handsome 😊
I'm watching this video in the CDG airport waiting to board my flight back home to the US. My french is terrible but I try and most Parisians were very kind to me.
Incredible video Adriel, I love your fashion inserts... I am now back on two feet after my foot fracture, enjoying footwear again (yay)! Also, will be in Paris October 11 - 14 which I am so looking forward to 🎉
Why does everyone in France criticize Emily as if she was a Parisian? She’s American!! She dresses like she wants she’s not trying to dress as someone she’s not. She doesn’t really know how to dress well but she loves using a lot of color and has fun with clothes.
I presume when you use the term "Parisian" you're referring to a French person because anyone who lives in Paris is a "Parisian." As such, I'm not criticizing Emily as a French person, I'm criticizing Emily as an American.
@@adrielfelise Pas vraiment… In France Parisians are French people from or living in Paris. You will never hear us speak of an english person, or an american, or whatever nationality not from France as parísians just because they live in Paris. We call them expats or l’americain, l’anglais, etc… but no Parisians are French from or living in Paris 😉
French-American here, born and raised in Paris. What is totally unbearable about Emily in Paris is how she's cosplaying her idea of a French girl. Yet, do you really believe she dresses American? It's just pure projection, especially the béret which no French person would be caught wearing, let alone a RED one 🤣🤣🤣
Ok, I'll play...LOL!!! One thing that EIP fails to do is show the evolution of Emily's style on her journey from Chicago to Paris. It's as if she acquired all of this colorful designer clothing in Chi-Town, then burst onto the scene in Paris as a fashionista with no help or inspiration from the French. Really??? It's too bad because I think they missed an opportunity to engage, inspire and influence the audience with regard to identity, cultural influences, self-confidence, conscious consumption, vintage shopping, etc.
So the jumpsuit with the Harlequin mask and the overskirt and the wide brim. Way too costumy for me! Perhaps she made a grand entrance at a costume party? In any case, I vote non!!!!
Bonjour, Adriel! Thank you so much for this video. Your insight related to EIP fashion was spot on. I, too, lovelove love Pat Fields, but find most of Emily's (and Mindy's) outfits quite cringe. You also make a very, good point about the lack of multicultural representation in Paris. Thanks for the video!
Adriel - say it again - French men do not approach!! I do not even look at them anymore because it's like what's the point - only for them to walk past anyways! Only one time during salsa class, a guy asked me to dance and it shocked the hell out of me haha
Same thing happened to me at salsa!! During my first trip to France with my brothers my older brother wanted to go to salsa and a guy approached me. My older brother was off dancing and my younger brother & I were awkwardly standing next to each other. I looked at him, he looked at the guy, he nodded, crossed his arms and stared the man down the whole dance. I think the sibling intimidation plus the fact I can’t dance salsa turned him off. Hahaha.
Would you consider doing a "fashion police" video à l'Adriel? I'd enjoy listening to your views about what's appropriate and adequate for any given time and occasion.
