I might look into an electric trike sounds like something I might like! But it would be more difficult for me to consider taking a pretty and younger female on a date🤣
When I had to take Survivor Benifits at age 62, as a widow and unable to work, they told me the check would be $700 less than taking it at age 65. At age 65, the amount does not change, they continue the reduced rate permanently. It should reflect the amount we paid in full I could understand the early reduced rate, but at age 65 they should not keep enforcing this penalty, keep my money, over circumstances I had no control over. Just plain fairness doesn't apply here. . It is not right. That should change. It's another form of theft they get away with.
I am a senior citizen of 71 years on SSI retirement and supplemental. Been without a home for about 3 years, now sleeping in my old car with my belongings in a storage. Haven't found affordable housing and I'm exhausted. I keep food in an ice chest in my trunk. I'm only allowed 53 dollars a month on EBT, which is ridiculous. Don't have any teeth because I used medical to get dentures and the dentures were so horrible and awful. So I find no help from anyone. Seems this is my destiny.
God Bless and continue to look over you. These are trying times. Even the youth are suffering, working 50- 60 hours a week and can't afford food or rent. May God bless us all. He is real. Your in my prayers.
I'm 70 yrs old and my husband recently died, which cut out income by a third, in getting ready to put my poor cat up for adoption and move into my 30 year old Toyota pickup truck. I'm living on 1230. A month.
I worked at season job a couple years ago as a cashier. My back has been paining me since then. Some seasonal jobs may become permanent. I was 68 at the time.
What will. Happen to Section 8 Housing? I'm disabled elderly living only on SS, food stamps, etc. if Se ction 8 ends by Trump many of us will be Homeless with disabilities and age.
Why would Donald Trump and Section 8 housing? He had Dr Ben Carson in charge of those programs in his first term because he wanted it to improve. Don't believe all the fear-mongering you here on the television, because The cuts will be made will not be to programs like that. It's to reduce the bloat of the Federal Government funding things that are ridiculous expenditures that we should not be doing.
I've applied I'm 64 for section 8 housing and I've been on a waiting list now for a little over 2 years and my rent has tripled in the last 4 years so what's taking all my social security to pay my rent then I have to work part-time
Never think about applying to get SS at 62 if you are working. I took the advice of a "Specialist" in San Antonio and the day I retired @ 65 the SSA came after me. I had to hire an attorney (very few want to deal with SSA), it took me several years to get the issue resolved and of course, I had to pay back the SSA.
@@lisadavis797If you were married 10+ years, then divorced, you can apply for spousal SS. It will be based on his credits earned overfishing working life. You will need a copy of your divorce decree, and his social security # to take to the SS office to file.
Living on the streets is freedom - scary at first - but being liberated from government threats and increasing rents healthcare and other harassment is worth it Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn better than rotting in a old folks home medicated into oblivion under the rule of privatized healthcare
In NYS, they have HEAP program based on maximum monthly income. Believe its 3200 a month for 1 person. If you qualify, pd directly to fuel company. NYS offers a lot of programs based on income but like a lot of states, the increase of requests is continuing to climb. Just remember states have benefits.
I was married for 12 yrs. We divorced and he remarried for another 12 yrs then he died with cancer. He paid into SS the whole time. Im 80 yrs old. Why am i not entitled to any survivor benefit? I'm in Ms
My best friend could apply this year 60 but she works full time so chose to wait. That's what she old me. Her payment would be very low due to taking SS so early+ her income is over the limit so reduces the payment too I believe. Ed knows more than I do but my friend is an Elementary School Teacher
If your spouse died and you did not remarry before turning 60 then you are eligible at 60. The catch is if you make over $25,000 per year they reduce your payment $1 for every $2 you go over $25,000. At $60,000 you would not get anything at all. ssa.gov has all the answers and can explain everything I just said here…. There is a loop hole your CPA may be able to help you with.
Funny, the loneliness epidemic is so US lifestyle driven. The dependence on goverNment is so on us! Glad I learned how to live, build an independent live as a military child. I have been in the US for about 5 years, mother passed sage had properties and inherited a far. Life here is truly inhumane, far from joyful and safe! Blessings to all, time to wake up., BTW, I am 67, a retired Special Ed teacher.
My brother is receiving only SSI. He applied for social security disability and was turned down. Whenever we look for subsidized housing, there is an impossibly long waiting list. So, we end up taking an apartment at market price. Yes, the absolute best thing I have been able to receive is the Medicare Savings Plan. I started receiving this saving since 2019 when I moved to Nebraska. I wish to report that Colorado denied me this benefit. The 19 years that my mother, brother & I lived in Colorado, we were denied benefits that we should have received. In addition, we were subjected to anti-Semitism. Can we sue Colorado to get back any benefits they denied us?
With the programs that are out there… when you pass away- does your estate have to pay back some of the things you got- example. Medicaid, Obama care… and urging that the programs offered you? I heard you have to pay it all back
Yes. Have heard horror stories of Medicare taking control of inherentance, insurance policies, properties, etc. to get "their money" back. It's ridiculous. It is criminal. Best to secure it with people and places you can trust. They are ruthless and dirty when it comes to that.
Can I get surviver benefits I’m in Wisconsin My wife passed 3 1/2 years ago I only got the 255 I’ve been on disability since 2015 I’m turning 65 in march And do I call to apply for these benefits
@@thomashenske6814 you might want to ask the question in the live stream just to be certain. I would hate for you not to get what you should in case I misunderstanding things. I'm also on disability and a widow and my husband made less than I did, so I have not been able to get them. However I think Dr Ed said that when I turn 67 and my disability ends that I could then claim my survivors benefits until I'm 70, and during those three or four years I would get earned income credits. I have read that that's not possible from another so-called expert so I would double check with Dr. Ed!!
@@thomashenske6814 also, I'm very sorry for your loss. It's a difficult Road for all of us who have lost our spouses at a fairly young age. I hit fra in 2 years and I’ve already decided I am going back to work full time then. I struggle a lot with this economy with just part time work and SS. You think they would help people. I’m not asking them to give me more money on my SS than I earned over the years but to raise this $23,400 that your only allowed to earn in 2025. If they raised that by 10k or 12k then people would not struggle as much because they could work more and make more money to pay their bills.
It won’t affect what you get. In fact you probably won’t even know if she claims on your benefit. She can either get her own or half of your amount, but not both. Whichever is higher for her.
When you die, she will get one hundred percent of what you were receiving. Until then she gets half of FRA. What if you claim before FRA? I believe the test is HER FRA not yours. Maybe Ed could weigh in here. What if you claim early and she claims at her FRA -- I am not sure. If you claim beyond FRA she gets what you were getting when you died. She still only gets half your FRA while you are alive.

In the 1980's, Congress decided that over 2 million public servants might receive "windfalls" that must be eliminated, all the while legislating to protect non-penalized pension provisions, non-penalized social security benefits and unlimited tax-sheltered accounts for the remaining vast majority of Americans. These "penalized" people are the public servants who fight the fires and the crime and teach our children. There are so many unfair aspects and angles to the WEP and GPO laws that it is best to just repeal BOTH penalties and perhaps try again later to support the Social Security System with a fair, logical and moral proposal and avoid targeting small percentages of people in relatively modest jobs. Compare a schoolteacher who is prohibited from drawing a pension as well as her own earned Social Security benefits. (They can draw one, but not both, even if resulting in a life of poverty.) Compare that to high-income people who may be getting over $3000 Social security per month PLUS a separate pension of perhaps $ 3000 to $4000. Yes, it happens, probably more often than WEP and GPO are imposed on the relatively poor folks, supposedly to fund the "Trust Fund." It happens because the high-income folks often had several "windfalls" in their lifetime -"covered" pensions plus social security. And another "windfall" they often get is matching 401K or IRA benefits. Very few firefighters and teachers really had any equally significant "windfalls" at any time in their life. They are blue-collar working folks. Due to the nature of their work, some people would logically say the schoolteachers and firefighters and police officers DESERVE to receive, penalty free, the non-covered pensions for which they paid up to 14% in contributions, PLUS the Social Security benefits that they paid for in other jobs, be it part-time work, or prior to and after their "non-covered" careers. For clarity, let's compare it to an Electric Power Company (EPC) employee: The EPC guy made good wages and gets a company supplied pension, of maybe $3500/ month. He also gets Social Security of $2500/month, and his 401K has grown to a million dollars (tax sheltered) so he draws $3000/month from that (and it continues to grow.) So, this EPC guy gets $3500+$2500+$3000 = $9000/month (No Penalties imposed). AND his wife draws her more modest pension AGAIN WITHOUT PENALTIES along with her social security (penalty free) and also draws from HER Roth or traditional IRA accounts It keeps getting better (than the teacher/ firefighter/ police pensioners) because, when he dies, rather than her Social Security being slashed, she can "bump up" her income by claiming spousal benefits based on HIS income, and, if applicable, draw survivors benefits with no "windfall" reductions. This "covered" couple can easily gross $140,000 annually WITH NO "WINDFALL" PENALTIES - and should one die, the survivor enjoys multiple income streams (again, no penalties.) NOW CONSIDER the future non-covered "windfall" schoolteacher/ Mom, who worked at various "covered" jobs a total of 8 years (32 quarters) while going part-time to college just to become a teacher (her dream job). She later taught for 25 years where she paid Social Security taxes also. She retired at age 62 and got a relatively small pension and modest social security benefits. Her husband was a career Firefighter who also had worked at other various blue-collar jobs, garnering 38 "quarters" at "covered" jobs. He is injured and retires at 60 but later works part-time and pays in 24 more "quarters", hoping to boost his eventual benefits. Knowing he presently would only get about $400 per month in Social Security benefits, (his payments reduced by over 50%) he delays applying, hoping to get benefit increases as he ages and pays more "quarters.". But it doesn't work that way FOR FIREFIGHTERS! He would have to garner OVER 80 quarters to begin to gain ground against the "windfall" penalties. AND 120 quarters are required of him to get equal to the vast majority who are required to pay in ONLY 40 quarters! ANOTHER "windfall" penalty! AND IT DOESN'T END THERE! If he dies first, and his wife may be entitled to replacement benefits from his Firefighter's pension but DUE TO GPO, HER Social Security will be basically CUT OFF. The $1800 she might get from the pension, is PENALIZED dollar-for-dollar, and deducted from her Social Security! THUS, ALL HER Social Security Benefits are deducted due to the Firefighter Pension amount she might receive! HER household income ends up at about 35% of what she had to live on before he died! AND she gets NOTHING from Social Security, although she paid in for 33 years! In 1982, this was called a "windfall" by Congress? Seriously? - And we wonder why we can't recruit enough teachers, police and firefighters? Perhaps we should make this right for our public servants, present and retired, and let everyone know it will NOT happen again! There are many MORAL WAYS to fully fund our Social Security System! Let's get busy!
🌼Details: I'll be 62 Feb 3, 2025. I will be taking early retirement. Ex spouse info. I was married for 18yrs/divorced 2003 never remarried. I spoke with social security rep and told, yes I qualify however ex spouse amount at 50% is less than what I will receive on my own. She said, when ex spouse passes away the % will increase to 75% which may increase the amount available to me. With that said, will I still be eligible for ex spouse amount of I remarry? THANK YOU🌼
The marriage penalty expires at age 60. But you can only draw on one account. If her amount is larger then you can draw on hers until yours becomes the larger then switch over to yours. You cannot draw on two at one time.
Hello with respect .social security charge me $56 dollars for Medicare prescription (part D )do i have too take that or what would be my option ? thanks
I had a 2nd case the claim ssdi was approval. Appeal 2 No back pay so still day. Attorney felt since the I weak case and just stay wear might 2 mos back. Cancelled judge. I had questions which her 2 weeks after I spoke with another person. She sent me social security notes there 3/4 possibly more. Note that is not correct. All the paperwork is and should have been in file. Is there anything ?
My generation the jobs and minimum wage was much lower. The new 62 and over had much more opportunities to make more. Will SS ever help the lower income make up for this? Lot of us caught in middle of to low and too high to get extra help.
Dont believe the video on TH-cam that say another stimulus check. They are look for click and will proceed to say maybe the president or congress will approve another stimulus check. Please don't believe any website that offer links to apply for stimulus or extra ss income because they are spam.
I will tell you the reduced internet for low income is a scam. I did it and my bill increased after signing up for it because they place you in the highest cost plan they possibly can. So don't do it.
ssa.gov can give you exact info and numbers. If you make more than $25,000 then the amount you receive is reduced $1 for ever $2 you make over 25,000. Social security is not allowed to give partial checks. So you would get maybe one full check per year or nothing at all. Based on income they reduce the amount until you have met the reduction. My gf gets two checks a year while I got all 12.
So this is great we’re getting some help for a very small percentage of Social Security people. What about the vast majority of us that are underpaid and need a raise in our Social Security chances are this will never happen.
I am divorced and I am 63 I don't get SSA they said because of my husband's income was high. Now I am not living with him. And divorced. Please can you give me some advice. Thank you.
Stop foreign money going to these foreign contries that alone money can save social security why cut social security benefits when they can cut money to foreign countries that money should be helping Americans . Americans first. Stop tax money going to foreign countries and use that money for social security. money our
Does people like me only receiving my SSA on my income I started collecting at 62,I was told I could get money from my husband which he retired at70. I am now 74 and after deduction of Medicare my net income is only $1K plus. Am I missing something?
Explain to me my 16 year old grandson cost of living gets got a 90% increase in pay, from 8 to 15 dollars now. His cost of living is 90% my ss gets 2.7% . Huh? These are crooks . Crooks i get 50% of my pay but if i was a government payroll, i get 90% of my pay in how is this a fair ?
Stopped my FREE Xfinity Internet in May of this year but I do everything online so I am willing to pay $29.95 a month which is great. No free cell phone anymore, only for illegals and everything else to them.

The stimulus checks during covid was because of Democrats, and trump did nothing but put his name on it. Stimulus checks during the pandemic were a great example of trickle-up economics working. By giving money directly to people who needed it most, they spent it on essentials, kept businesses open, reduced debt, and supported jobs. It showed how helping everyday people can boost the entire economy.
I also need to say thank you for taking the time to do these videos and take the time to lead people in the right direction.

I might look into an electric trike sounds like something I might like! But it would be more difficult for me to consider taking a pretty and younger female on a date🤣
@tomtroy3792 My trike is a two seater! Potential dates with a sense of adventure, and humor is a definite requirement, I think 🤔😜
When I had to take Survivor Benifits at age 62, as a widow and unable to work, they told me the check would be $700 less than taking it at age 65.
At age 65, the amount does not change, they continue the reduced rate permanently. It should reflect the amount we paid in full
I could understand the early reduced rate, but at age 65 they should not keep enforcing this penalty, keep my money, over circumstances I had no control over. Just plain fairness doesn't apply here.
. It is not right. That should change. It's another form of theft they get away with.
This makes no sense at all, that's not how early access to SS works.
Praying for you.🙏
God Bless and continue to look over you. These are trying times.

How can anyone servive on Sss , being single and want a job, but no one wants to hire you at 67
I worked at season job a couple years ago as a cashier. My back has been paining me since then.
Some seasonal jobs may become permanent.
I was 68 at the time.
Damn it! Why don’t 10 people get together and pool their money so that no one has to be homeless in old age!😢
I'm homeless
Many people (not all) are homeless because they have mental health issues. They don’t generally make good housemates.
Thank you so much. I watch your program. I've learned so much keep it up. I will pass it on
Sadly, that's their plan. They want us to die off. Project 2025 is pretty clear on most of this...
I've applied I'm 64 for section 8 housing and I've been on a waiting list now for a little over 2 years and my rent has tripled in the last 4 years so what's taking all my social security to pay my rent then I have to work part-time
Help, rich don't care about the poor, unless they have their hands in the pocket. Beg forgives, some of the rich.
It took me 10 years of waiting before I received the section 8 help.
Prepare to wait unfortunately.

Once you start your ssi you can work, but you can only earn so much a year. You apparently went over the limit I'm thinking.
@@tzarinaruths.2610yep, your specialist was a moron, or you were greedy
Great info👍
What about a cost of living raise for SS due to inflation? It's the law. 40% for congress, 0 for SS.

In my area meals on wheels charges. I was taken aback to find that out.
That's wrong. They are already taking 185.00 out of my check. It's only December 21,2024. It's still a rip off. Considering I don't even go to the DR.
I am worried that they will stop divorce spouse benefits
They may means test that but I doubt it will stop in the near future.
I’m hoping not… I was a stay-at-home mom for many years, then only part-time for many years after that🙁
Divorced spouse benefits?
@ yes.
@@lisadavis797If you were married 10+ years, then divorced, you can apply for spousal SS.
It will be based on his credits earned overfishing working life.
You will need a copy of your divorce decree, and his social security # to take to the SS office to file.

I'm in Ms
I would think you are entitled to survivor benefits.
Still working and I'm 60, what age should I file survivor benefits. Work full time, about over 60k a year.
I think the most your income can be is about $20,000. Anything over that they take back from your SS benifits.
... happy Day...do you happen to know if a good SSDI atty in Cobb county Georgia ... please and thank you

Can I get surviver benefits
I’m in Wisconsin
My wife passed 3 1/2 years ago
I only got the 255
I’ve been on disability since 2015 I’m turning 65 in march
And do I call to apply for these benefits
Yes you can, if her benefit was more than twice of yours.

So I can’t get survivor benefits
@@thomashenske6814 you might want to ask the question in the live stream just to be certain. I would hate for you not to get what you should in case I misunderstanding things. I'm also on disability and a widow and my husband made less than I did, so I have not been able to get them. However I think Dr Ed said that when I turn 67 and my disability ends that I could then claim my survivors benefits until I'm 70, and during those three or four years I would get earned income credits.
The year you hit full retirement age matters. You can earn up to 66k or something much higher, check into it
Is Medicare Advantage plan is a PPO or a HMO plan?
Yes
The ppo will cost more!
Should be called disadvantage plan
I'm divorced after a 20 year marriage what percentage % of my SS will my Ex-wife get, is it taken directly out of my benefit..
It won’t affect what you get. In fact you probably won’t even know if she claims on your benefit. She can either get her own or half of your amount, but not both. Whichever is higher for her.
Your payment will stay exactly the same, whatever amount your ex gets, so don't stress.

This "covered" couple can easily gross $140,000 annually WITH NO "WINDFALL" PENALTIES - and should one die, the survivor enjoys multiple income streams (again, no penalties.)
NOW CONSIDER the future non-covered "windfall" schoolteacher/ Mom, who worked at various "covered" jobs a total of 8 years (32 quarters) while going part-time to college just to become a teacher (her dream job). Let's get busy!
does alaska have medicare advantage ?

Hi! approved for survivors benefits but in breakdown my check will only be for 6o $$. should i call them
Just my 2 cents, I sure would!
ssa.gov can give you exact info and numbers.
