- When I see the Dead Zone movie with Greg Stillson, I always think of fellow populist politician Donald Trump at one of his rallies. Stephen King's The Dead Zone was nothing if not frighteningly predictive.

Acting was so good all around in this movie. Especially Walken and Martin Sheen
Roger is a long way from stupid…..he knows exactly what stillson is….superb intuition.

I was today years old when I realized Stephen King predicted Donald Trump entering the political Arena before The Simpsons .
Reading the book now, and wanted to see how the movie treated this particular part of the story.
Also I just wanted to see Walken walkening.

I have a feeling there's a significant difference between Stillson and Trump, and I think it's this: Stillson was involved with reality enough to know the baby shield pictures were gonna finish him. I'm not sure Trump would have any clue about that. I'm also not sure it would matter to many of his supporters. Dead zone, hell, we're in the twilight zone now.

Since Trump was elected, I've thought about this scene 100 times. It's amazing how many times a movie successfully predicts the future.

Walken was so good in this movie.
He definitely played the character differently than as written in the book... you know, I wouldn't necessarily say he played it different... but him as an actor certainly makes the character different than in the book. John Smith, as denoted by his alias sounding name, is the ultimate everyman who is thrown into this crazy situation and has to come to terms which this crazy gift.... or curse. Christopher Walken is NEVER an everyman. Ever. There's no one like him. So in that way he slightly subverts the character as written... but on film, he IS AMAZING.
He'd have been perfect for Day of the Jackal if they made it a decade or so later

Agree. Also, on an off topic note, what with Hollywood running out of ideas, and remaking popular movies, please do not remake The Dead Zone. This movie is timeless, classic, and could not possibly be made better than Cronenberg did.

Definitely. This movie, and the book it is based on, are some of my favourite King related works.
