I was at that game as a fifteen year old Leeds fan,I got the train from Edinburgh to Leeds with my mate only to find out it was an all ticket game.We blagged our way into city end hiding our scarfs and having to cheer when city scored. We we’re getting pelted with bricks.Gutted at the result,as soon as we got out of the ground I put my Leeds scarf on and headed for the train station back to Scotland 😂😂

I'm neither City or Scum but I went with a pal to Maine Road April 1985. Scum won 1-2 with Scot Sellers scoring the winner. I sat with City, my pal joined the Scum fans and I clearly remember they had 2 areas of supporters in Maine Road at opposite points of the stadium. One area chanted "We are the Champions" and the opposite area replied " Champions of Europe". There was no trouble before the game and I saw no trouble during the game, but afterwards!!! Loads of black kids who hadn't been at the game and City fans who had, were waiting down various side streets around Maine Road. Scum fans were attacked as they walked back to the City Centre via Moss Side. Our bus had few windows left by the time we got to the City Centre. At the station, those Scum who managed to get back were herded onto trains to Leeds whether you wanted to go to Leeds or not. Me and my pal told the Old Bill we were going to Scotland, but they said " No, you're going to Leeds" We both jumped the barriers and disappeared catching the train to Glasgow sometime later! I didn't see the meeting of any firms that day, but many away fans got a right good kicking! And that's a neutral point of view for you!

I was at the game that day supporting Leeds. Indeed, after the game our bus convoy got ambushed in the town centre by a huge Man City mob. Most of the buses carrying the Leeds fans had their windows bricked in. My bus was the last in the convoy and escaped the ambush. But my brother was on another bus, and he told me the driver shouted duck, and seconds later every window got smashed by the Man City mob while the Leeds supporters dived for cover. Those were the days.

What a load of utter tripe, I was 19 at the time and was at this 3rd round FA Cup Match, i don't know where your 3,000 City fans came from as the Blues took a good 10,000 plus to Elland Road for this game and the footage proves it, City had a quarter of Elland Road and as for getting battered by Leeds Service Crew i really don't think so, the City fans gave as good as they got before, during and after the match just as they always give it to Leeds big time down the back-alley warrens of Maine Road whenever they turned up which wasn't often.

I went with Liverpool in 79....I was 15 and went with me auld fella and his mate....! Liverpool were cool as fk with the new look..wedge haircuts Adidas samba and tight jeans....we stood out a mile as Leeds were still in Birmingham bags dm's long hair and had scalfes wrapped round their wrists....it rained bricks on us nearly all game...we won 3-0 and got the most points ever in a season..(2pts for a win)...back at the station the train just started pulling out as hundreds of billy Connolly lookalikes came running along the platform...! It would have been chaos if the train pulled out a minute later... !!! A great introduction to aways...and one I'm very proud of going too.... As Leeds was always very dodgy....!!!!

They still look like that now. Similiar thing with the rags in Salford in the early 90s. Me and a mate couldn`t get in the City end so bought tickets from a tout. We were stood in the middle of the stretford end and some still had the bay city rollers look a throwback to the mid 70s. Another thing that stuck out at the swamp was being surrounded by Irish, Welsh, cockneys with a few brummies thrown in with very few local accents within earshot.

A lot of grounds were dodgy as an away fan, but mid 70's through to the mid 80's, Elland Road was one of, if not the worst, their fans were absolute animals. In my mind, travelling fans Chelsea and Leeds always caused mayhem on the road and IIRC both sets of fans were banned from away games.

Coppers stood there and watched, when we were escorted back to the coaches past their end the Leeds fans kept trying to get to us from side roads making sheep noises as we were escorted back to our coaches . They never Done much at ours and they got it bad a couple of times but there was a big gap when we never played them but they were a decent home team as said and you had to be firm handed and up for it or you could come unstuck.
