SHIELDLESS CONDA ALL RAILS/ALL IMPERIAL HAMMERS. (Horizons, PvE, FA-on) Spoiler alert: not good.

  • Ok, another absurd build for PvE, not so sure about PvP. All rails. Even the fighter has got rails.
    As always with an all high energy draw weapons build, I needed energy, so no shields. This is NOT good for a big ship like this, because big ships are bullet eaters. It's always easy to hit a big ship even with bad aiming skills.
    But ok, I needed the energy, so full armour and hull reinforcements. I admit I didn't engineer the hull reinforcements because I haven't got enough materials, but all the resistances are positive, around 20% all of them (although I could engineer them to grade 3 or 4).
    Some of the hammers are not engineered too, because I am a bit lazy to be honest.
    Then, I needed the ship to be as cold as possible because the rails and the hammers generate tons of heat. So the power plant low emissions grade 5, with thermal spread, and one of the two automaintenance units disabled, provides me enough energy, especially for the thrusters to clean grade 3 and EXP. thermal spread (I didn't want to engineer them to grade 5 because of the power draw).
    The result is what I expected, but I don't see this build useful for PvE. BUT, it could be really fun in a wing with friends, as a sniper.
    I didn't engineer the rails to long range, but I see lots of potential in this build for PvP, as a long range sniper in a wing, as I said.
    I tested it with low level wanteds, with the help of cops (simulating a wing), and the best techinque is to send your fighter first, that way the enemy will focus on it for a while, enough time for you to do a lot of damage without getting hit.
    PS: The all hammers build can't be 100% hammers, because there is no size 1 Imperial Hammers, so the 2 small ones are rails.
    PS 2: I personally like the rails buld more.

    I also like the guardian rail gun fighter. When flown by decent AI pilot it really shines.

      @@The-Man-On-The-Mountain The plasma guardian fighter is not bad for its absolute damage, but a more experienced AI pilot is needed. On the other side when human fly those they are challenging. For humans I get imperial fighter with beams.

      ​@@JG27KornyImagine the battles if you could deploy 5 fighters from your type 10, all of them piloted by your friends, not NPCs. I don't know if the technology nowadays allows that, but that would be a brilliant future in ED regarding combat. Sadly, now even the turret fighting is broken.

      @@The-Man-On-The-Mountain It is fun indeed. I have not been playing for a year now, as at the time there was a lot of cheating in pvp. Like imagine fully maxed Cutter, engineered grade 5 shields, prismatic, 4 pips to shields. Then in less than 10 seconds all shields were gone. in 4 seconds hull integrity close to 0. And I had fully engineered heavy duty reactive armour with a lot of hull reinforcements. Those 4 seconds just bought me time to combat log.

      Yeah, this is not the best build for PvE because big ships are easy targets. Even full of hull reinforcements, many hard points get lots of damage. But I always like to experiment hehe.

      My 'style' at the moment seems to be trending toward finding a way to snipe the powerplant or blow them to bits as fast as possible ... probably because my flying 'skills' are not yet skillful... XD

      @@1heUndertaker Yeah, I feel you. I am still learning FA-off. It's the best way to fight many times, but it's not easy to master. Although some ships don't require FA-off in my opinion, like the eagle or the vulture, because they already move really really crazy in FA-On. Others like the Mamba, yes, you need some FA-off/FA-on all the time.
      Also, you'll notice that some maneuvers in FA-off make the temperature to increase, and that is because you often "eat" your own thrusters wake and heat. Details like that is what make this game so fkg awesome.
      Yeah, going for the power plant is the best option for big ships, especially the cutters, because the cutter has a very exposed power plant, so once you take down its shields, it's easy to destroy it with a small ship. For instance, the Python has its Power Plant very well protected, so it's more difficult to take it down that way.
      I strongly suggest you to get some power play modules, especially the prismatic shields and the cytoscrambler lasers. The prismatics are good for medium/big ships, but bad for small ones (especially because even with a fully engineered power plant, the energy is a problem, but also because it's better a biwave shield in small ships in my opinion). And the cytos are amazing at taking down shields.

      @@The-Man-On-The-Mountain Ah yes, powerplay is *another* aspect of the game that I've not yet looked at ... heh, over 3000 hours but mainly exploration and trading ... always feel like a noob - but that's what is great too ! So much detail, like you say ... truly awesome 🚀 o7

I am getting run out of builds at this point lol, so I am thinking of starting with AX. It's a bigger challenge with a controller hehe. I see myself mining a fkg lot to compensate the re-buy screen lol.

      Super nasty hehe. A nasty sniper in the right hands, maybe with a hotas instead of a controller. It's not easy to aim with a controller.

    you should try grouping, maybe 4 or 5 of them just to take out the shields, so you have some than could fire a 2nd shot once shields are down. (I feel like having all 8, is over kill for that 1st shot 😉).

      Yes but I am too lazy to use both triggers and adjusting the binds to make new button combos for commands like for the heat sinks, although I have done that many times for other builds (in fact, I didn't do it for the adv plasmas for the vulture, but is the best option for that ship). Using bothe triggers with a controller makes my ship handling even worse. And yes, I could make two groups but then the ship wouldn't be a meme build lol. But is not a bad idea actually.

      He probably wouldn't 1 hit shields w only 3 or 4 hitting on the first shot...I run 3 myself and they deff don't 1 shot shields he's only getting the shields off in 1 shot because he has all 8 hitting at once
