What i find weird is that before Jahad and the rest entered the tower noone seemed to be able to climb the tower. Therefore no rankers existed and every single floor of the tower was probably isolated before him. It's like the tower history itself began with Jahad in a sense. Every tower inhabitant was not only trapped in the tower but also in his own floor. The irregulars therefore were the only thing capable of changing the tower. I get hidden floor vibes for the tower itself, maybe the only real people are outsiders and every single tower entity is artificial and therefore with limited capacity and purpose. Only an irregular has unlimited capacity simply because the tower entities are artificial and limited by design. And when the family leaders realised this they also started getting a god complex seeing everyone around them in the tower that is not an irregular as a bug and insignificant. Irregulars might be the only real people in the tower.
I like the idea but i also don't see how it would hold since we obviously know that the 10 great family leaders had children and its these children that often times end up being much stronger than regulars or other inhabitants of the tower. This simply then just goes down to genetics since the 10 great family leaders or, as we can believe it, irregulars in general are just simply stronger, which is why there children and especially the princesses which receive jahads blood are stronger. So i don't think the people within the tower are artificial but irregulars and beings from the outside are simply just stronger existences. However the idea of history starting with jahad makes sense since we know nothing of what the tower was like before jahad came there, however its possible that the truth of the previous towers system and how it worked is being hidden by jahad.
@@mr.muffin4743 I'd say for this theory to work there would be 3 "classes" of beings. Artificial: meaning not an Irregular or descended from an irregular and are created whole cloth by the tower, Descendant: Those who carry the genes of an Irregular and are maybe in a sort of superposition of real and unreal, and Irregulars: who are real and come from outside. This would make sense why the Family Leaders see tower dwellers as bugs, but treat Irregulars as humans, and why we see them show more (not much more but still) concern for their descendants who are more powerful as they are more "real" or human.
I believe that the tower it emerged is similar to a parallel dimension, it is a world there, or a universe, and it has its inhabitants, the tower is not metaphysical, it is really a universe, as if it were an rpg quest boss, there are monster there, the challenge of the tower is for someone to pass it and reach the top, gaining the axis power, and the author did this in an extrapolative dimension, that jahad could not climb, for some unknown reason or he wanted to form a kingdom for ego of "weak" people who would be less of a problem than outside the tower where there are other stronger beings, and so to speak he closed the floors and established a kingdom together with the other family leaders.
This one is untrue.. the existence of powerful inhabitants of the tower such as adori zahard, enne zahard and mirchea luslec disproves it. They were born inside the tower. Yet they all surpass some family heads.
Excellent systematic presentation of this material, well explained and thorough. Clear and well communicated. I didn't finish yet but already A+ content
Theory: The Tower was originally intended to make Axis. Irregulars come into the tower, are tested by the administrators, and if they can make it to the top, they become an Axis, someone able to shape reality around them. Jahad met his peak, the floor he knew he could not surpass, so instead of taking the test and failing- he decided to subvert the purpose of the tower to make his own domain- shape the reality he found himself in to the best of his ability, creating his own little tower within the tower. Headon is bound by the agreement that was made with Jahad, and so is forced to choose regulars. Forces that be are working within the laws of the universe to set the Tower right.
I would say that Jahad is already an Axis, maybe a minor one, but able to see the complete destiny of anyone in the tower, and maybe, manipulate it a bit. This does not explain why he stopped climbing...
hedon isn't bounded by anything ; hedon was choosing people even before people came to into the tower ; what he is bounded lol he is boss of the tower ; who can bound him ? lol he is called god he is called fairy he is called The true god of the tower who can beound god ? lol not even guardians can stop him so who bounded him ? please expain us seems you have so much info about hedon or maybe its hedon himself whose bounding everyone inside of the tower? lol
I was under the impression that irregulars are people who enter the tower without being invited. So Rachel is an irregular because she entered via baam opening the door (though i thought headon said he opened the door to get baam and rachel fell in instead). Then he opened it to enter himself.
Also, I didn't think being an irregular got you extra power, it's you have to be crazy powerful to enter the tower without invitation. Rachel's "power" is that she's really lucky and keeps running into super strong people that help her.
Just some thoughts with Rachel being an irregular. 1. We don't know how affected by shinsu she is like if she is affected by magic or can cancel it. She had to pass Lero'ros second floor test like other regulars I assume. 2. In terms of power we have no idea how the original great family's power scaled. Baam did defeat Jahad on the hidden floor who is rank 1 but we have no idea the power of the rest of them at the time or how long it took the group to even get to that floor. In terms of some sort of special irregular power she might possess, I think she holds one of the most powerful and that's LUCK. On the second floor Lero'ro gives great importance to the power of luck and how everyone gets anywhere with it. Look at Rachel she lucks into the tower with Baam, lucks into a strong ally with Ghost, the second floor administrator test, having strong FuG partners to climb, becoming Whites ally, gaining the manta ray from Gustang, receiving a powerful avatar on the hidden floor, and getting a gift from gusting that we don't know yet from getting the data. I wouldn't be surprised if she makes it all the way to the top of the tower and becoming insanely powerful through pure luck.
Really late to respond to this comment but we know already luck's not Rachel's thing, or at the very least she's not specifically blessed in terms of luck, thanks to the game she plays vs. Khun in the Hell Train. If "luck" is your power you'd think you could win 2 coin tosses in a row, especially since Khun's not particularly lucky himself.
Pretty sure Rachel didn't do Leroro's test. Her testing group was down to three after the fighting test with Quandt already and then moved on directly to the crown game.

This discussion made me think: what if the 10/12 great families + Jahad actually didn’t enter at the same time? But actually each family entered separately (possibly not alone, but with their own “squad”, explaining Ilarde), got stuck in the test and couldn’t progress until all 13 met each other and banded together to progress in the climb.
thank god you mentioned it the yeon ilarde problem has been bugging me forever. 2 things can happen either siu provides one of the most mindblowing reveals about how the yeon family works. or he might potentially retcon the whole ilarde character all together to make the story less complicated. similar to what he did with yama. one interesting thing about the concept of irregulars is that i think something bad happened or is happening on the outside, and rather than it being an adventure the 13 warriors were running away towards the tower. because so far it seems like all the irregulars hate being in the tower.
@@Pandora_The_Panda his back story was changed completely. but think of yama as a gladiator in an arena, he had a master and made a name for himself in the fighting pits known as Bayroad, hence his original name being Bayroad Yama as opposed to Baylord Yama. the wiki explains it better but with the help of the slayer imort he was able to escape his situation
See this is why I love TOG sm the lore is vast and so much of it being “unanswered” is so exciting so pls keep making more videos you do such a good job covering the lore lmao!! and yes the Ilarde thing also confused me because it’s not like 2 relatives can’t be family heads bc we have Ari and Arie so I just chalked it up Ilarde just didn’t want the responsibility of being a family head😭
Rachel could have been born in the outer tower. We know that there are entire civilizations that live in the outer tower without knowing that the tower even exists. The "fairy" story could be a legend that her people had to explain the sudden disappearance of everyone headon chooses, and Arlene was too insane correct her.
Hang on, I’ve always read it that they WERE chosen by the tower. They were special and allowed to open the door because they’ve been chosen. Which is why no rules apply to them, the tower has given them this special privilege of entering the tower when they shouldn’t have been able to. Rachel was not meant to enter the tower, it chose Bam and she snuck in with him. Headon chooses the regulars, the tower chooses the irregulars and it’s out of Headons hands. That’s always been how I’ve read it anyway
Remember when I shared some theories a couple of years ago, which you reacted to? This was one among them. That the Tower exists to create "Gods" if they reach the top. I had also mentioned the nature of Irregulars in there.
Another theory I can think of is that maybe Jahad had good intentions by becoming a king. Think about it, if only irregulars could climb the Tower, then only they can get out, all the other people that were born inside were not able to climb the Tower, so he set up this system so people born inside the Tower could climb it and potentially get out of it. Maybe somewhere along the lines everything got mixed up and he lost his way, or maybe he is trying to build a great number of strong combatants for whatever it is outside, and so that is why he still doesn't want anyone to cross that threshold.
SIU wrote on a blog post about this a while ago, the irregulars are people that are chosen by the tower but opened the door on their own, the fact they could open it means they are extraordinary in some way. Rachel is the odd one out, since she sliped in as Baam opened the door but she is still exeptional, being able to cheat her way to the top of the tower, although that may have something to do with her deal with Headon that we don't know the details. But acording to multiple characters irregulars come when the change is needed by the tower and every single one of them leave a big impact on the tower, Enryu killed an administrator, Urek beat family heads and made what basically is a sepratist kingdom, Phantaminum wreck havoc on Jahad's palace and had him lose the #1 rank and then comes Baam being the son of two of the most controversial figures in the Tower history, one of them being the only resgistered case of someone leaving the Tower, became a huge name in a terrorist organization, beat rankers and even awoken the king of the tower.
I personally think Jue Viole Grace was the name Baam was given at birth before Zahard killed him. Ilarde probably isn't canon anymore since SIU removed all of his blogposts. Ghost/Akryung may be a creation of Headon and thus does not need to be bound by the laws of the Tower to a tee. Rachel was probably only allowed to enter because the Tower knew Baam wouldn't climb if it wasn't to seek her. Another theory I have is that Rachel is someone Arlene met with outside and told her stories about the Tower, including the prophecy she was setting up for her child. There is most likely a lot we don't know about it but I think Rachel is going to be important to Arlen's prophecy one way or another, or maybe her only purpose for it is to motivate Baam to enter the Tower at all. Awesome video as per usual Joe 👍
To my shock seeing this man dropping a ToG manwha topic video after so long. Been re-reading this series again and man. Just insane looking back at some of the stuff we’re still waiting to get into eventually. Such a grand series.
I like the theory of the Yeon clone. If it turns out the "princes" are clones, it's not too crazy to say that the same procedure was attempted to the other Family Heads. It's also possible that irregular may be able to share their powers, like how Hockney got guide-like abilites because an irregular looked at him.
I just started rewatching your dub and first off great job but second bam was chasing Rachel into the tower-so Rachel most have had a way(or thought she had a way) of getting into the tower without bams “portal”
On the segment about the administrators test, it’s possible u might be reading too much into it. Jahad probably implemented those tests because he saw how powerful irregulars can be, so he wanted to make it even harder for someone to overthrow him. Now, u could ask “why don’t they just force the test on the irregulars instead of giving them a choice to take it or not?” Well, the first problem is that like with Baam, they probably can’t tell that early on that you’re an irregular. The second thing is that because of this, they probably don’t think the irregular can even pass the administrators test alone at that early stage, since there are so many moving parts to the test. Remember, when Baam was about to take it, his friends were given a warning that if they help him and succeed, they’d be an irregular’s accomplice forever, thus making them targets within the tower. I think the test is just there as a way to say “hey Jahad is actually a fair guy” when in reality he doesnt believe that anyone would want to work with an irregular, thus making the test seemingly impossible.
About Luslec, I feel like he was some sort of admirer of the 13 Warriors, especially V, since acording to data Eduan's words, he was really devoted in helping the residents of the Tower. He was born in the 80th floor, so he probably met the 13 Warriors when they got in that floor, and started to accompany them until they got to the "top". Arlene was described as someone who got allong with everyone, so she probably had a good relation with Luslec too; he perhaps took the name "Grace" as a form of homage., or Arlene insisted for him to take that name and kinda "be part of the family" too. I have a little theory that "Viole" could be a name inspired by V's name, that's still unkown (like Garam said to Baam), or it could be the name that Arlene gave to her son, before he was killed; after all, Rachel was the one who gave Baam this name, so we don't know what his actual name is/was. Plus, I already saw some people saying that "FUG" might stands for "For Unforgetablle Grace", so it could also be another homage to Arlene.
It’s important to remember that “irregular” is a made up propaganda term by the Jahad empire. We know this because Data Jahad was unfamiliar with the term. As for the chosen thing, I think you are wrong here. Headon told rachel she was not chosen and Hockney called Jahad an impenetrable area chosen by the tower. God of Guardians doesn’t use this term, he says “one who opened the door” and I think this is key. Walking through the door does not make you what we consider an “irregular” you have to be specifically acknowledged by the tower. So this means Jahad and co might have had 20 in their party for all we know, but only 13 were worthy. The others could only climb because they climbed with the 13. So Rachel is not a “real” irregular no matter what. That is why she wasn’t allowed to climb like Bam was until Headon intervened and why she likely can’t use shinwonryu. She’s no different than the average regular imo.
I don't think everyone outside the tower is strong, If that were the case there would have been tons of irregulars who forcefully opened the gate, But as we know there are only handful of irregulars present in tower. So it can mean that not all people on outside are generally strong, just like Urek said outside of tower is so much big it's incomparable to the whole tower and that just means there are countless people on outside yet in the course of ten thousands of year there are less than 20 irregulars. So this come to end by saying that not everyone on outside the tower is strong and that not everyone can enter the tower and become strong instead you have to already be extremely strong(In a way, I don't know in what way) to enter the tower.
Really great video that I think is necessary for whenever we make theories around irregulars. But I do have some minor disagreements (I'm not saying you are downright wrong just this is my understanding). According to Lero Ro Irregulars are NOT chosen by HEADON. Not the Tower specifically. And in Season 2 right after the Workshop Battle Almuik Edrok (Repellista's guide/butler) explains to Evan that Irregulars are CHOSEN by the Tower itself and that is why they are capable of opening the door. The Tower opens the door for them despite Headon not choosing them. This implies a something that I have had in my head since my first readthrough of TOG. A Tower Born can become an Irregular despite not being outside the Tower. Now while Bam was born in the Tower he still entered from outside thanks to Arlene. But if lets say hypothetically Ghost was special enough he could open the doors within the tower and be chosen by the Tower without Headon's consent. (Now for Ghost I personally believe that he is V's body processed and controlled by another entity.) Of course there is a caveat against this, whether the doors to the Tower specifically exist outside or not. I mean we see the gates teleport with Enryu in the FOD. We see the gates suddenly appear under Rachel in chapter 1. So it's not clear if the doors can be opened from within the Tower into the Inner Tower. Now as for Illarde, Macseth, and the Workshop in general. I have to break a certain assumption. Do we know for sure the 13 warriors entered the Tower at the same time? Now let's look at Rachel, straight from SIU himself (not a theory), Bam opened the door, and Rachel went in as well. Meaning it is possible for non Irregulars to enter from outside as long as the door is open. Meaning Hana could have opened the door for Illarde, Gustang could have opened the door for Macseth and the Workshop, heck maybe Phanta opened the door for Urek (probably not). Or the 13 warriors collectively left the door open for whoever wanted to follow. Still an amazing video and definitely something the theory crafters should think about. I think theories about Rachel and Illarde are really interesting and can lead to some implications regarding the Jahad Princes.
i think aside from being an axis maker, the tower is smthing like a staircase, it takes u from one layer of the 'outside' to another- a higher plane of sorts kinda like attaining nirvana- but with more action
Warning: long comment (like, REALLY long, there is a TL;DR at the end) This is How I think of classifying the irregulars There are three general things related to being an Irregular 1.Entering the tower from the outside. This doesn't actually matter. The only reason that this is used as a definition is because people thought is was impossible to do this without also fiting into one of the other categories. It's a useful shorthand, but doesn't actually make you a true irregular. 2. Opening the doors to the tower. The tower itself recognizes you as 'special' giving you certain privileges such as being able to use shinwonryu, taking administrators tests, and possibly more 3. Being 'from' the outside (lineage-wise) The people of the tower are creations of the tower. They are part of the tower itself in a way. Just how enryu can create life with shinsoo, the tower residents are just made of shinsu. This may be why the family heads view the residents of the tower as lesser than themselves. Depending on how you look at it, the irregulars are the only real people in the entire tower. Everyone else is just part of the tower created to test them. Every Irregular has at least one of these traits. But not all characters who have the traits are irregulars. If Rachel is from the tower, then she would be the only character that is an irregular by technicality. She doesn't have any of the things that make an irregular special. This is why Gustang views her as vermin. She isn't actually a true irregular. This next part also functions as a TL;DR That leaves 2 categories to cover. -Those who opened the doors (True Irregulars) These are the 13 great warriors, Baam, Urek, Enryu, and Phantaminum. Just these 17 characters. -Those who have no ancestors from the tower. (Pseudo/demi-irregulars) These are: Yeon illarde, Eurasia Enne Jahad, and the ha twins. (If baam was never killed, he would be in this category as well)
Rachel's theory is something ive thought about for a long time, is so fun when you see someone else theorizing that, so far I've thought I'm only crazy lol
Perhabs originally every regular had the same potential as an irregular and the tower could only be climbed by people that can enter themselves. Later this entire system was somehow hijacked by Headon and now most people enter the tower through him. And in the process of being chosen by Headon the regulars are somehow nerfed, they lose the ability to use shinwonryou for example.
Oooh, this is a really interesting problem I've never given thought to. That part about Ilarde is actually very interesting, and I'm curious to see whether SIU will address any of these thoughts or if the definition of an irregular will change!
I've always just thought/assumed that Rachel was from the Inside, and met Arlene as she was on her way out, and through her she found the way to the outside, to where Bam is Now, mind you, her being from the Inside doesn't disqualify her from talking about the Tower like some story of wonder, because there are literal tons of normal people living inside each floor, that have nothing to do with climbing the Tower. Given her background of where she was abused, it is extremely possible that she was told stories about climbing the Tower from someone (maybe even Arlene herself), and started fantasizing about them Another possible reason why Rachel doesn't have any 'benefits' could simply be that she never had the power to open the Tower herself. Because the way I see it, the Irregulars are basically not chosen by the Tower, but they are certainly respected/acknowledged by it, probably due to their power, hence why they can open the Tower and come in, while Rachel never had that power, hence she is not recognized/acknowledged by the Tower.
i thought the yeon flames were native to the tower(given to hana after she entered), and that would make it possible for both to have it. As for Rachel and ghost, there's something weird there, i wouldn't say the concept of irregulars is weird, i would say headon did something (dude is shady AF), finally i do believe the irregulars are so different from each other, from the way the entered, to the why they entered. my theory is that the first 13(except grace) entered because they were running away from someone, which is why jahad doesn't want to conquer and leave the tower (grace called them the god outside), Phantaminum does seem like he entered by mistake, and urek followed him, enryu is very odd from the very little we saw from him he defiantly knows the tower too well, i like to think that it's his second time in the tower, Bam comes across like a part of the tower not an irregular, finally Rachel, she failed headon's test but i believe he let her go up just to give bam a reason to climb. that's just what i think but I think this kind of approach is more fit to explain them.
I always assumed that the "special" quality of an irregular is that he/she is able to force open the doors to the tower not that they came in uninvited. All of them did come in uninvited of course but some others (like Rachel) did that too but dont have the ability to force their way in themselves. Being able to force your way into another world seems really OP so im not sure all people outside of the tower have to be really strong just that only the strongest can even force their way into the tower in the first place. As far as ive understood SIU's worlddesign for ToG the tower is not the only world and each world is like its own story (possibly created by an axis?) so all the mechanics can be totally different. For example I dont believe its clear if Shinsu is even a thing outside the tower yet there seems to exist some kind of God outside the tower that can resurrect people at least and Enryu and other Irregulars seem to have a high affinity to shinsu right from the get go.
I actually theorised that Rachel was someone from in the tower that followed Arlene out. We know that the Tower has several segments so maybe Rachel is from the Outer section of the tower so she would not have much knowledge of the Inner section of the tower.
Theory: Initially people (or whatever else) lived mostly in the outer tower and no one could climb the inner tower, including those who did live there. Because the classic old-school tests were only meant for irregulars, therefore locals did not have any way to climb, there was actually not even an opportunity to do so. And then comes Zahard and makes a new system. Could it actually be that Zahard initially created the new system just to allow for locals to climb, maybe he was sympathetic to them and wanted to help them. Basically he decided to become king of the tower for locals sake, regardless of where it led him in the end.
Having recently reread tog, I’m pretty sure there is multiple statements saying the irregulars are chosen by the tower itself to bring change or fulfill some need of the tower. For example headon said Rachel wasn’t chosen, or the door didn’t open for her, she just slipped in when bam opened it. Also bam at the start is even weaker then regulars showing that strength or power isn’t a factor in how the door is opened.
@@Undead_Grius why would it be weird? Irregular simply refers to people from outside the tower who are therefore not bound by the same rules/ restrictions as the denizens of the tower. There is no other criterium. When bams will (or the tower choosing bam) opened the tower. Rachel’s will to enter the tower made her slip through, but there is no reason for to be chosen by the tower or having forced her way in to be counted as an irregular.
@@Undead_Grius well without spoilering, it’s pretty clear she is an irregular in later parts, but it’s also important to remember, being an irregular doesn’t mean anything in terms of strength/ abilities. Normally those who open the door are powerful in some way, as otherwise you couldn’t be chosen/open the door. But since she just slipped in she doesn’t have to be strong. The rules of the tower that don’t apply to her are the rules being imposed by zahard with his contract with the administrators. For example she doesn’t have to make contracts with the administrators to use shinsu, she can take the administrators tests (if she wants to, but they tend to be harder so why risk it), guides can’t see her path / guides can’t predict what she or those surrounding her plan etc. In the novel/webtoon it will be shown that she can do those things on her own, therefore proving her to be an irregular, but since she didn’t open the door herself, you could call her an irregular irregular
@@Undead_Grius once again opening the door isn’t part of the definition of an irregular, it’s just people from the outside. Her case being weird is very deliberate and part of the mystery surrounding her and as the story progresses she will get even more mysterious.
Theory: I am gonna elaborate about what you said 10:25 I like the idea that Rachel is from the inside but I don’t think that’s the case I think that bam is the son of Arlene and V which automatically makes him strong and Rachel originally being form the inside doesn’t really make sense because then why would she dream about the tower and you could argue that before entering the tower how did she know a pretty decent amount of information? but then again there are theories in which she had a book so yeah tell me what you think joe? 🤔
Maybe it was a family duty that was passed down until the outside God resurrects Bam again. And when that happens that family had to look after him until he enters the tower. And Rachel knew her family history through books passed down by her ancestors and hated that she had that duty fallen to her and that her destiny in life was to become a maid, but Bam was the hero of an epic story. We know how much she wants to be a heroine of this story and change her fate 😅
Luslec cannot possible have come from the Outside world because he was confirmed to have been born on the 80th Floor. In fact, the region he was born in was called the “Mirchea Region” because of him Also, wasn’t the Firefish a Yeon’s Family Flame that was passed onto Khun? Maybe Hana did something similar for Illarde after she took her in. (I know you addressed that in a note, but it could be possible and I think that perhaps Illarde was chosen by Hana because she could endure that. Of course, assuming we’re going this route, which I do not personally believe it) I still think Illarde’s from the outside and is related to Hana by blood, but it’s something to think about nonetheless. I honestly think all of the companions for the Great Warriors are from the Tower, sans Illarde if she was one of them Also, I think the reason why Rachel sucks is because she didn’t actually open the doors to the Tower, which essentially means that she’s not meant to be for the Tower. Finally, I don’t think potentially being born in the Tower is relevant as to why Rachel is so weak. After all, Bam was also born in the Tower. Yes, he died and then was resurrected, but still, I don’t that’s a necessary qualification as to why Rachel is “weaker” or is “less of” an Irregular in terms of that kind of status compared to Bam or the others
Epic speculation time: Ghost is a floor administrator candidate. The tower needs to keep a steady supply of entities that could serve as floor administrators or in other ways help preserve order in the tower, like Headon and Ghost both do. This means there are very likely many other entities that have powers otherwise only specific to irregulars that are there to make sure tower persists, and presumably to stop people from leaving or surpassing 124th floor. The difference between these enforcement entities and irregulars is they were created inside the tower(likely none of them are humans) and they borrow power from the group of axes that made the tower.
One thing that bothers me too is Macseth's character, the leader of The Workshop. He was already there when Zahard and his companions entered the tower and apparently there is a Workshop outside the tower too. It seems Gustang was speaking to him back then during the Workshop tournament arc and from what it seems, Gustang seems to respect him, same Gustang who considers every non Irregular as bugs. Is he an Irregular too? The first Irregular ?
Wouldn't surprise me if MacSeth and some outside force such as Axis are responsible for this tower and if the original purpose was to create new Axis or even God who rules over other Axis (Tower of God is part of a verse with other now deleted works of SIU where Axis were more important). MacSeth is certainly not a "Irregular" at least who climbed the tower before the 13 family heads and their companions but something else.
Rachel might be not as powerfull as Baam at least directly, but no way shape or form she has less ability to affect events in the Tower. Her power is knowledge (which Bamm does not have, but improving though) and manipulation using that knowledge. You could say, that Baam and friends have some kind of influence on Traumerei for example as a measure of power of some kind, but Rachel have potencially even more influence with Po Bidau Gustang. "Irregulars have always brought chaoes to the Tower: - I think Rachel does that quite well (in her own ways, of course).
hmmm. well maybe the inhabitants of the tower like Rak, Cuadro, Endorsi, etc, are just descendants of past "irregulars" who couldn't climb higher and settled on what ever floor they stopped. Jahad's group might have been the only ones to get has far as they did and maybe even the last generation of those regular "irregulars". It does seem apparent that the tower is meant as a trail for those from the outside to overcome and come out stronger then when they came in. However, as Jahad sorta made a deal with the admins and Heden, the past of taking people in from the outside was halted (but never truly stopped since the tower apparently has a will of its own and perhaps even wants people to overcome it to fulfill its primary function). So now theres this system of just recycling the decedents of past failed climbers to achieve the status of rankers within Jahads empire to further consolidate his control. Tho that does bring the question if Jahad just reached his limit (but didnt want to fully admit it) and just called a permeant pause with his group and just set up a system of control for themselves. Cause like why stop if there was still more floors to overcome? Arlene and Vi were both adamant on continuing and even set up FUG to counter Jahad's rule. Maybe the tower just "spirited away" people like Jahad's group and past climbers since they had potential to overcome it, and its not fully voluntary as to whether or not you enter the tower. Maybe VI and Arlene wanted to go home and it was probs Heden (like the sly dog he is) told them all the answers awaited at the top of the tower. I mean Urek came in to look for Phantaminum based on what we know, and since Phantaminum peaced out ages ago to who knows where, Urek's immediate goal now is to just get back outside, via reaching the top of the tower or some other means like Arlene did.
I mean the flame fish is passed on to khun so no they don’t have to be relatives, but I would agree they are actual sisters. Also the irregulars could have opened the door and they brought followers with them. Similar to how Rachel got into the tower. Bam open the door Rachel fell through and then bam through a fit opening the door again. Also Bam is from inside the tower yet he has the benefits so no I don’t think that’s it. I theorized that Eurasia Enne was an irregular born of irregulars like Bam, and what puts her under the contract of the tower is actually her status as a princess of Jahad. Jahad eventually doesn’t allow family heads to procreate with each other for a reason.
One thing that strikes me as odd is the god of guardians, or to be more precise, the god of guardians' "residence" if you could call it that. Actually, both, now that I think about it. Because we know that the hell train was created by the workshop and the rice pot is inside the hell train. We also know that the god of guardians taught the 13 great warriors shinwonryeuh. But why is he doing that inside the hell train? Did he just not exist before that and was created with the hell train? Or was he sealed inside the hell train by someone before the 13 warriors arrived (you know, because he is literally chained when Bam meets him)? Thought Process 1: If he was indeed "created" with the hell train and "born" there then the one who created him must have known about shinwonryeuh for him to possess that "technique". Assuming that Macseth himself created the god of guardians would also imply that Macseth knows how to create shinwonryeuh, which also means that he is not only the originator of the towers most common language, but also the towers "rarest technique", if you will. That in turn makes me believe that Macseth is the single most knowledgeable person when it comes to the tower as a whole. Heck, he might even know what's beyond floor 136 (or was it 135? or a completely different one? I can't recall the exact number dammit!), or something even more fundamental about the tower itself. Assuming this assumption is right at least. Thought process 1.2: The god of guardians was created by someone, but "developed" shinwonryeuh for himself. This in turn made his creator perceive him as a threat, which is why he is now "sealed" inside the hell train. Under the assumption that both the hell train and god of guardians were "created" around the same time. Him teaching the 13 warriors and later Bam his technique could be a means for him to seek revenge, knowing he was locked away because of that technique. Thought process 2: The god of guardians wasn't created by someone and is a natural inhabitant of the tower. But that begs the question, why is he the "only one of his kind?" As far as I know (and correct me if I'm wrong on this) we've never seen a creature or resident of the tower that looks, even remotely, like him. Did something happen to his "race"? Something that was similar to the annihilation of the native ones but pre 13 warriors? Was he "sealed" inside the hell train because he survived? Because he knew shinwonryeuh and the ones who killed their race or clan wanted to learn that technique, but after they found out they couldn't "banished" him into the train? It's suspicious to me that he's the "only one of his kind". Well, that alone doesn't warrant suspicion, but it's that combined with his placement in the current story and his role before that. Conclusion: Something about the god of guardians and his entire situation is extremely strange (to me) and I feel like there's A LOT more to all of that, especially when it comes to his origins. I just can't quite wrap my head around it and would like it if you all pour down your thoughts and critique below this comment. And sorry for making you read so much.
This is wild speculation, but I think the Hidden Floor on the Hell Train reveals what The Tower is: a simulation. I think that essentially The Tower is a video game. PCs (player characters) in video games always grow exponentially faster than NPCs, get way stronger, and get special abilities. They also tend to have NPC companions. We know that there are Admins for each floor, and that everything in the Tower possesses Shinsu, but are limited by contracts on what they can use. Aka when an NPC enters a new levels server, they have to ask the admins for permission to use powers. In this context the brutal nature of the Great Families makes a lot more sense too. They're players in a game, and they're so merciless because they know the people of the Tower aren't real. So in their minds they are just playing a kingdom Sim within the game, expanding and conquering to their hearts content. Rachel is a bit of a speed bump in this idea, since if she's from the Tower how could a simulated character leave the simulation? If she's from outside why doesn't she have PC status? I can only assume that the way she entered accidentally because of Bam, rather than on her own is why she's being treated like an NPC instead of a PC. Though if she is a PC without PC status in this game that does somewhat explain why NPCs still seem to constantly surround her and aid her, since they're programmed to assist PCs. Ghost is also strange, though if this is a game, perhaps upon recognizing that Rachel was a PC that hadn't received PC powers on sign in, the game created an NPC companion for her with the PC powers she's lacking to try and fix the imbalance. Again not a perfect way to fit Ghost into the theory, since he doesn't stay with her constantly, but it'd sort of make sense. Going along with this I think something really bad happened to the outside world, like a War. It looked desolate and barren when we saw it with Bam, so perhaps the reason people aren't coming to the tower anymore, and the reason the Great Families refuse to progress, is because there's nothing out there anymore to return to. So rather than return to a world with nothing, they'd rather stay in a simulation where they have everything.
Since Headon said to Rachel that Bam was chosen by the tower - how is Bam still an irregular? According to this video, he doesn't fulfill the first of the two criteria.
All Irregulars are chosen by the tower, they are the only ones actually chosen by the tower itself and the tower itself exists for them (likely for one of them to awaken as axis/"god").
I think the TH-camr and you got it all wrong, the irregulars are the only ones truly chosen by the tower, because none can affect their arrival besides the tower itself, the weren’t chosen by Headon, but they were chosen by the tower
I feel like before the family heads entered the tower, the residents either didn't have any need to go to a different floor (since there was probably no such thing as a ranker, because from what we know this is basically stablished by jahad when he stops climbing) or maybe they didn't even know that the inner tower existed (let's remember that each tower floor is a whole world pretty much), maybe the entry to the inner tower was something that the irregulars discovered. It also would make sence if we consider that the irregulars who needed to take these administrator tests (which were harder and most likely deadly) needed companions, in which case they could have probably made their way to outer layer of the tower in order to recruit habitants and then later on jahad might have stablished the new test system to prevent the administrators from getting bothered by all the people that wanted to climb or to prevent a mass murder of everyone who tried to take an administrator's test. As for irregulars, i would guess that the characters in doubt will be clarified to be or not irregular once the webtoon reaches the point where they are relevant.
I think that the irregulars might just be migrating creatures for the tower, whom the tower grants special access and therefore rule of the tower does not apply to them. So the fact that Jahad decided to stop the climb is a bug in the system for the tower and so it needs a change and is trying to push Baam to be that change maybe?
TL;DR Rachel stole Bam's place and becomes a regular in his stead; becoming instrumental in Bam becoming a force to shake the tower. Unchosen is accurate but doesn't tell the whole story. All Irregulars seem to have opened the doors of their own power. More in depth below Headon tells Rachel that it wasn't her. She wasn't the one the tower wanted. So the tower/headon opened the door for Bam, but Rachel was beneath. She, in a sense, stole his place. Being saddled as a normal regular, without anything special, she was weak. Something that shouldn't have, but had to, happen. It's almost like she was a key to fulfilling Bam's prophecy of being someone to change the tower. My theory on what an Irregular is: We use the word unchosen, because in a sense they are. However, the through line with all of the irregulars is that *they* opened the door. After Rachel falls through Bam's open door, he forces it back open becoming an Irregular. Perhaps Yeon's sister got chosen and taken, along with others like the Fug leader. The 13 formed a group and made their way into the tower hoping to find their family. It could also explain Yeon Illarde having the flame as she may have been chosen because she was special. But the act of being chosen kept her from being an Irregular like the others. It's never really explained why the 13 entered the tower. They had to have been scholars, warriors, and capable survivors already if they were taking the administrators test
I'm glad you said that! I believe Rachel is a REGULAR! But listen to this if Rachel want's to be the Chosen to climb in Bams place, then she cannot be from outside. So the scene where we saw her and Bam lived was somewhere in the tower. It could even be underneath the tower. Imagine a little handmaiden girl living in the lowest place in the tower, a place where no one cares about or really even knows about because to the rest of the tower they would be nobody. Maybe nothing ever happened there, maybe it was peaceful boring all the time. Then again maybe it was harsh and Rachel was treated poorly by the pretty girls and told she was ugly and would never be anything. Which ever it is she then finds a book. This book is Arlene's and tells Rachel everything she could ever dream. Now the book could allude to Bam's warabouts or maybe Enryu came to that floor left Bam there. I don't feel that if Enryu came there, even if he told the inhabitants or not, would task Rachel with watching Bam. He could have left a book with the people there as well. It could also be that Rachel is a lot older than we think and she and Bam came from a place in the tower elsewhere the Arlene cherished and she did know Arlene. Either way Rachel is a Regular! That's why she is not as powerful as all the others.
This lore too deep for me to remember because it’s been years and I don’t wanna reread hundreds of chapters, but imma still try to follow along and catch up from where I stopped even though I know I’ll be confused
*Irregular Trope* is sometimes boring but if written very well you'll never think about it. But yeah I believe this kind of character creation for Protagonist of the story is really common because it is easy to make story out of it. Making a Main character as Normal dude is indeed difficult to do if your setup is Fantasy/Shounen/Action or whatever. Therefore you'll find a lot of Manga/Manhwa had an OP character that will standout among the rest cuz he/she is the Main Character cuz it is much easier to make story out of it.
I agree the tests were originally made for irregulars. Residents of the tower didn’t orginally climb it. The family heads brought the change of climbing the floors and establishing the current system
Something that I want to mention is, the guardian god was a man made golem who CAN use the black hole sphere, so what if ghost is also some golem or spell that can use it as its made bye a Irregular
I feel like there are a few things that are interesting with this. 1. Rachel is technically an irregular but doesnt seem to have the benefits of it and didnt get in the tower the same way. Nor do we know to what extent technicality matters. 2. Irregulars are let into the tower because its something the Tower feels it needs, in one way or another. So are they not chosen even though this is the case? Or is it technically them letting themselves in with the tower not being involved at all but it lets it happen? Or is the tower just powerless to these types of individuals overall? I feel alot of this will be answered later or i hope so but my understanding was that the tower acknowledged that their existance was deemed necessary for the tower without going through headon and the normal method.
I feel like #6 is the only qualifier that actually matters whereas you keep bringing it back to the fact that they weren't "chosen". I mean them not being chosen by the tower kind of comes with the teritory of not being from the tower. That's really the important fact, they're in fact alien to the tower.
Ever since the reveal that Rachel was a part of the plot to get Bam into the tower, I thought that Rachel was from the tower and that's why she sucks. Also, she additionally sucks just because she's Rachel. I was very confused about some of your theories because I just took that as fact. This is encouraging me to give the series a second read
The problem with your theory about Rachel not truly being an irregular is that Bam would also not be an irregular, since he too was originally from the Tower. I think what's going on with Rachel on Bam is what was hinted at extremely early in the series, when Bam said he didn't love Rachel romantically, but that it was more like she was a part of him. I think the deal Arlene made with the "outside god" was that her child would re-enter the Tower and reach the top, but since her child was from the Tower, it wouldn't have the natural buffs that irregulars typically get. So the outside god split Arlene's child into two children, Rachel and Bam. One would be stripped of all potential and destiny (Rachel), and the other would be gifted with them (Bam). Rachel was then tasked to take care of Bam. For a time, Rachel thought she was the one destined to climb the Tower, and only when Headon turned her down did she realize she was the one without a destiny. Now she's desperately clawing her way up the Tower to prove she can still be the one to "see the stars." But I think the reality is that she never could have even entered if not for Bam because they are two parts of one person (that also means Bam could have never entered if not for Rachel).
ok so 1. regulars are people who are chosen by Headon to be regulars. irregulars are not chosen by Headon but "the Tower" has chosen to allow them to enter from the outside. so they have special abilities granted only to them by the Tower and not to regulars who have to sign contracts with administrators to use shinsu. and the "problems" with Ghost and Illarde are just gaps in knowledge. Ghost could just be a being created by Headon and since he's an administrator he can use Shinwonryu so Ghost can as well. and Illarde could be some kind of clone made by the workshop. and everyone who climbed with the original 13 could've already existed in the Tower and just began climbing with them after meeting them because back then there were no rules about who could and couldn't climb it was only about passing the tests. and lastly, Rachel is not an irregular. she used Baam to enter the Tower so she doesn't have any of the benefits of being chosen by the Tower which is why she's so weak. she's only an irregular in name compared to the chosen regulars by Headon.
Theory: The term regular is wrong and actually was created by Jahad. In my view, regulars are regulars because Jahad applied some laws/rules to them when they were born in order to stay the King. I think so because I remember there was some kind of law in the tower that you can't do anything to Jahad(maybe on the Secret Floor, but I'm sorry if I'm wrong). Now it's obvious that Jahad himself is responsible for these laws. I believe he made a deal with Administrators similar to stay young forever for himself and 10 Family leaders Irregulars actually don't have any benefits, they are simply not cursed / not bounded by Jahad. The only reason why they are so strong is because they have to make their way through the Tower's door or be chosen by Headon. It means that only those who have strength and potential can go to the Tower. It's kind of a filter. I really like it, because it explains why Rachel is so weak. She didn't have the strength and potential to go into the Tower, but Bam "opened" the door for her And one more thing. Maybe there were other irregulars before Jahad and the others, but they died in higher stages. And now Jahad seems to be a pretty good guy, because even he cannot climb higher and he tries to save all the people in the Tower, but as an adventurer, he tries to find other strong creatures to the point when he could climb higher. But why he is trying to kill Bam? Because 1) Bam has the potential to depose him; 2) Jahad is testing him and makes his life hard to keep Bam getting stronger
Irregulars are the only ones capable of (negotiating to at least) taking the Admin test. The Irregular GWs entered the tower and encountered natives on the higher floors; those natives had to have gotten up there somehow!
2:30 hu? we dont know that! we just heard of all the op Irregulars but that could also be because its hard to Find/open the tower from outside. No one sad that there are not more that just died or were so weak no one bothered ....
About Shinwonryu, apart from Irregulars, Ghost and God of Guardians there is apparently another instance of it being used in the raws that could potentially be tied to Ghost and GoG.
I assume that originally everyone climbing the tower were taking the administrator's tests - that's why when Jahad started enforcing his regime there was already a sizeable community of strong individuals within the inner tower who resisted him and eventually formed FUG. This would not have been possible if people were unable to climb the tower prior to establishment of Jahad empire.
One of the key things about Irregulars that I had always gotten was that all the irregulars who entered the tower “forced” their way in. As you mentioned they were not chosen. It’s a bit of an assumption on my part but I always took it as these people were so magnificent in quality that is why they possessed the power to force their way in….Rachel is not special as a matter of fact so far the author goes out of his way to depict her especially untalented and mediocre in looks. So Rachel is at this point from outside the tower but didn’t have the special value to allow her to force her way in. Even Jahad says he was born with the seeds of a king. Makes me think he was from a kingdom from outside the tower. The Yeon dilemma….these family leaders now seem to have almost godlike power. Just seeing Traumerei and Gustang. The both created life and made significantly powerful beings. Traumerei his top divine fish and Gustang literally his whole family he made from scratch! So who’s to say what the birth mother of the yeon family is or how she’s related to the family leader. Ghost issue….if the God of guardian who taught them black whole shinsu could use it then Ghost who is a creation of headon using it, isn’t really a dilemma…..
Tog probably has the most or one of the most open concepts for a main character, I feel like people can theorize forever about who is a irregular and who isn't and we won't know anything until a confirmation Even though the family leaders are strong could it still be possible some of them are irregulars like Rachel like maybe only 7 of the og 13 opened the gates and the other 6 just happened to fall in? Tog has alot of mysteries
I think there could be a lot more than the 18 irregular we know. Currently there is 16 "ranked" irregulars and two "climbing" irregulars. We know that most regulars will die before climbing to the 134 floor and rank. We know that the regulars pass "easy" tests compared to the administrator tests. We know that the 134th floor administrator test was so hard that the family head failed or got afraid. I think this means that irregulars could have died while climbing. And the 16 "ranked" irregulars are the survivors of a bigger pool of irregulars. Maybe some of the initial irregulars gave up the climb before the 134th floor. Maybe most the tribe of the tower are the descendants of the irregular which had given up the climb in the ancient past. The difference with the family head would be the immortality contact. Those "native" tribey might lost their progenitor to old age and diluted their "power" thought the generations. Also there could have been other irregular even after Zahard kingdom, and only the most powerful or lucky have survived the level 2 screening.
Rachel is the something of zahard, possibly his daughter. That suffered the same fate as baam. But he promised her that if she reaches the top of the tower she will have it all. She is the final princess
I'm curious as to how the first irregulars got into the tower. It's almost as if the tower itself is an experimental a.i something along the lines of sword arts las arch. The irregulars would be like the military who infiltrated the system to catch kirito and the a.i. the only difference is the tower was designed for a.i to progress and the family heads infiltrated. This would also explain why the administrators are furious. They probably gave them an opportunity and had got greedy now. Somewhere along the lines of angels in DBZ they can intervene but won't because of rules placed upon them.
Rachel's issue is she doesn't try to push herself. If she has great potential she wont reach it by going the easy way of getting carried. Potential isn't realised untill you work for it
Jahad could have set up parts of the admin system due to needing to, to avoid the threat that an irregular presents to the control of the tower and his people in the tower. By ensuring that an irregular is identified through these tests and that they are kind of like a new bloodline coming into that section of the tower, these testings allow for them to both the tower to try and meet it's own end goal while Jahad attempts to maintain his control. Essentially Jahads tests for his people and the towers testing of irregulars are concurrent with each other, but they don't seem to have the same end goal so much as they run into each other
Unless there is further explanation--like the 12 were the first to climb--everyone would have taken the Floor Guardian Administrator Tests that were very difficult prior to Jahad becoming King of the Tower and taking over the responsibility.
Maybe I've read another translation, but as I understood it anyone can choose to take the administrators test, it's just not adviced since the administrators tests are ALOT harder than the "regular" tests.
Nah it's only irregulars can take them. Remember when hansung was like "yall can't take that test anyway lmao" then Bam stands up and yells "I am a irregular!"?
One thing I want to say is real world is messy, confusing, and identity/terminology. If some badly in story it sucks, but I think this is case with SIU it adds realism where things complicated etc
I was abt to type just before u said it that rachel is actually originally from the inside of the tower, my theory is she got took by arlene as a maid or whatever and was able to go outside the tower with her, and thus why shes weak. Another thing that bothers me is what Princess yuri's butler said at the beginning of season 2 where he implies that ultimately its the tower that chooses who comes in, and that whoever comes in has a purprose, whether it be chaos or change. So it did choose the oroginal adventurers, then enryu causing great havoc, then bam whether its for change or chaos we're yet to rly find out
By saying “not chosen by the tower” I think you should see it as “not chosen by the tower jahad rules”. In short bam was chosen like how jahad was chosen before he was king meaning he was actually chosen by the tower. Everyone else gets picked by jahad version of the tower and not the natural state which would end up making you an irregular if that makes sense.
If Rachel is originally from inside and then she was carried outside by Arlene (willingly or unwillingly), she should have been a random girl from the outer tower. So she should know nothing of the inner tower and the climbing firsthand. At this point make sense she learned of those stuff only from stories and arlene (probably). Also if we assume she is from Inside carried Outside... maybe the envirorment itself damaged her and her capacity (but I admit this is a streach) so she show this little potential. This last part is not necessary to me but it's possible. After all Rachel is not weak by the tower standard, is weak by the Regular standard... Something she was not chosen for. I assume there are tons of people as potential as Rachel in the outer tower.
as far as the companion of the family heads go I feel like it can be explained the same as Rachel and Baam. Baam is the irregular who opened the door but Rachel was with him so she got through. I do not know if we were given proof that Rachel is functionally an irregular or just that people believe she is. Can she use shinsoo without a contract ? So it could be that Yeon llarde and the other companions were simply with the family heads when they opened their door. As for the ancients I thoughts they said that they were already inhabitants of the tower but that they met the climbing group and decided to join them but maybe I'm remembering wrong. Even things like the shinsoo black hole sphere, are irregulars really the only ones who can use it? we were told so, but it wouldn't be the first time the information given in TOG was proven false later on. it's hard to tell who is a bonafide irregular according to the definition because a lot of the characters were identified as irregulars by other characters who shouldn't have anything that helps them differentiate regulars from irregulars.
I think we are looking at this matter in a wrong way because I can't remember but somewhere in the story it was said "after the regulars started to apear". If we take the sentence's timeline it means the concept of being chosen by Headon is regular and otherwise is irregular only existed after Zahard became king. Also when Bam entered the tower Headon called him a guest. So I think it's not that opening the door gives the benefits of extraordinary abilities but one has to have these constitutions to open the door and thus become a guest to the tower. Maby for the administrators they exist to test the guests. Then after Zahard became king he appointed chosen individuals to test the regulars. Also didn't god of guardian say that the children of the ten great family can use shinwonryu but no one tought them? If so shat gives some reason to why Ghost can use shinwonryu, maby he is some short of clone. By the way is it confirmed that Rachel took care of Bam for 20000 years? Bam's body was grown up when Rachel found him. For Bam to be afraid of lonliness i wander how long he was there and how did he stay alive.
I thought Irregulars were those chosen by the tower, while regulars are those chosen by Headon, so from Headons perspective, yeah, the Irregular are not the chosen ones. But my headcanon is that the tower chooses irregular based upon what the tower needs like change, stability, revolution, etc..., so the tower chose Bam for whatever reason, but not Headon.
Personally, from what I remember being said, I disagree with the assertion irregulars were not chosen. Regulars were chosen by Hiden, an administrator, while irregulars(again, from what i remember being said in the comic) were chosen by the tower itself
I wonder if SIU will make the Yeon family Head, and the family’s Mother, Twins. Like how NaNa (was that her name?) and the other girl are twins that get exponentially more powerful when they work together. That would be cool, cuz isn’t she a wave controller too, like the twins were?
Ooohhhh i like this one
Thank you!
This does not explain why he stopped climbing...
hedon isn't bounded by anything ; hedon was choosing people even before people came to into the tower ; what he is bounded lol
he is boss of the tower ; who can bound him ? lol
he is called god
he is called fairy
he is called The true god of the tower
who can beound god ? lol
not even guardians can stop him so who bounded him ? please expain us seems you have so much info about hedon
or maybe its hedon himself whose bounding everyone inside of the tower? lol
@@ingGmoPs jahad cannot go above because the boss doesn't let him to go ...
No, in TUS, it was said that people can become an Axis user randomly. And most of outsiders know nothing about towers.
@@Endoross But the process is random that's why the Towers were constructed to facilitate deliberate creation of an Axis.
JOE POSTED TOG LETS GOOOOO
I agree let's gooo finally yay
LETS GOOOOO
Forgot racheal lose the coin toss?
Wait, what happened with Yama?
@@Pandora_The_Panda his back story was changed completely. but think of yama as a gladiator in an arena, he had a master and made a name for himself in the fighting pits known as Bayroad, hence his original name being Bayroad Yama as opposed to Baylord Yama. the wiki explains it better but with the help of the slayer imort he was able to escape his situation
@@PAuguste16 Oh...
@@PAuguste16that's his old backstory right?
I dont think its to absurd to imagine the flame as a certain bit of shinsu she was able to give to someone she felt was worthy of passing it on?
I love when Joe randomly gets video ideas, they're always so interesting especially that point about Rachel
I always get this wave of nostalgia every time Joe uploads a video regarding Tower of God, and I pray it never goes away
Yes, Joe! Please make a video on the structure of the tower! That would be so interesting.
Glad to see TOG videos back can't wait to watch this at home later.
It was said at the end of workshop arc that irregulars are specifically chosen by the tower because they are things the tower needs in some way.
Truly missed your ToG vids, glad you’re back to posting again
(Now for Ghost I personally believe that he is V's body processed and controlled by another entity.)
Of course there is a caveat against this, whether the doors to the Tower specifically exist outside or not.
I think theories about Rachel and Illarde are really interesting and can lead to some implications regarding the Jahad Princes.
i think aside from being an axis maker, the tower is smthing like a staircase, it takes u from one layer of the 'outside' to another- a higher plane of sorts
kinda like attaining nirvana- but with more action
Warning: long comment (like, REALLY long, there is a TL;DR at the end)
This is How I think of classifying the irregulars
There are three general things related to being an Irregular
1.Entering the tower from the outside.
This doesn't actually matter. The only reason that this is used as a definition is because people thought is was impossible to do this without also fiting into one of the other categories. It's a useful shorthand, but doesn't actually make you a true irregular.
2. Opening the doors to the tower.
The tower itself recognizes you as 'special' giving you certain privileges such as being able to use shinwonryu, taking administrators tests, and possibly more
3. Being 'from' the outside (lineage-wise)
The people of the tower are creations of the tower.
This next part also functions as a TL;DR
That leaves 2 categories to cover.
-Those who opened the doors (True Irregulars)
These are the 13 great warriors, Baam, Urek, Enryu, and Phantaminum. Just these 17 characters.
-Those who have no ancestors from the tower. (Pseudo/demi-irregulars)
These are: Yeon illarde, Eurasia Enne Jahad, and the ha twins.
Quadrado was most likely a tower resident already.
Oooh, this is a really interesting problem I've never given thought to. That part about Ilarde is actually very interesting, and I'm curious to see whether SIU will address any of these thoughts or if the definition of an irregular will change!
I've always just thought/assumed that Rachel was from the Inside, and met Arlene as she was on her way out, and through her she found the way to the outside, to where Bam is
Now, mind you, her being from the Inside doesn't disqualify her from talking about the Tower like some story of wonder, because there are literal tons of normal people living inside each floor, that have nothing to do with climbing the Tower.
Given her background of where she was abused, it is extremely possible that she was told stories about climbing the Tower from someone (maybe even Arlene herself), and started fantasizing about them
Another possible reason why Rachel doesn't have any 'benefits' could simply be that she never had the power to open the Tower herself.
I always thought that Rachel was the descendant of someone Arlen brought out from inside the tower…
In fact, the region he was born in was called the “Mirchea Region” because of him
Also, wasn’t the Firefish a Yeon’s Family Flame that was passed onto Khun? Maybe Hana did something similar for Illarde after she took her in. (I know you addressed that in a note, but it could be possible and I think that perhaps Illarde was chosen by Hana because she could endure that. Of course, assuming we’re going this route, which I do not personally believe it)
I still think Illarde’s from the outside and is related to Hana by blood, but it’s something to think about nonetheless.
I honestly think all of the companions for the Great Warriors are from the Tower, sans Illarde if she was one of them
Also, I think the reason why Rachel sucks is because she didn’t actually open the doors to the Tower, which essentially means that she’s not meant to be for the Tower.
Love these kinda videos so many things are such a mystery so discussing them is great
A ToG discussion video?! Aaaah!! Missed these, Joe! Yayz! ^^
This is something I capitalize on in the D&D series we do here on the channel. Macseth seems like he really could and would be the "first Irregular"!
Perhaps and I think headon holds a lot of info which one day we might find out about
Rachel might be not as powerfull as Baam at least directly, but no way shape or form she has less ability to affect events in the Tower.
I strongly agree with this theory. Jahad is a bug in the system that needs to be removed. The climb has to continue.
Bro one of your best theories ever
TL;DR Rachel stole Bam's place and becomes a regular in his stead; becoming instrumental in Bam becoming a force to shake the tower. Unchosen is accurate but doesn't tell the whole story. All Irregulars seem to have opened the doors of their own power. More in depth below
Headon tells Rachel that it wasn't her.
I love the Sunday videos but these videos just hit different
Something that I want to mention is, the guardian god was a man made golem who CAN use the black hole sphere, so what if ghost is also some golem or spell that can use it as its made bye a Irregular
I think Ancients (Rak's race) are residents. Data Khun said that they were the original residents
Just to clearify, irregulars are chosen by the tower. Regulars are chosen by headon the first known administrator
I believe he made a deal with Administrators similar to stay young forever for himself and 10 Family leaders
Irregulars actually don't have any benefits, they are simply not cursed / not bounded by Jahad. The only reason why they are so strong is because they have to make their way through the Tower's door or be chosen by Headon. It means that only those who have strength and potential can go to the Tower. It's kind of a filter.
I really like it, because it explains why Rachel is so weak. She didn't have the strength and potential to go into the Tower, but Bam "opened" the door for her
And one more thing.
This would not have been possible if people were unable to climb the tower prior to establishment of Jahad empire.
an explanation that I could understand, Thank you so much Joe !!
Tog probably has the most or one of the most open concepts for a main character,
I feel like people can theorize forever about who is a irregular and who isn't and we won't know anything until a confirmation
Even though the family leaders are strong could it still be possible some of them are irregulars like Rachel like maybe only 7 of the og 13 opened the gates and the other 6 just happened to fall in?
Tog has alot of mysteries
Oml oml!! Am I in imagination station rn?!! New Joe vid!!!
Finally 😭😭I was really bored
I like this kind of videos
Maybe the administrators test was deemed too hard for regulars so that not enough would make it up and help with tower jahad functions
Personally, from what I remember being said, I disagree with the assertion irregulars were not chosen. Regulars were chosen by Hiden, an administrator, while irregulars(again, from what i remember being said in the comic) were chosen by the tower itself
I mean, we could consider the fact that some irregulars have died.
I wonder if SIU will make the Yeon family Head, and the family’s Mother, Twins. Like how NaNa (was that her name?) and the other girl are twins that get exponentially more powerful when they work together. That would be cool, cuz isn’t she a wave controller too, like the twins were?
