It's a beautiful device but there's ALOT of competition out there in the Windows handheld space. The elephant in the room is also that AYANEO pumps out so many handhelds each year that its hard to not suffer either FOMO or worry that AYANEO will just abandon you when "the new hotness" comes out.

There's absolutely no reason why you couldn't just uninstall Windows and install Steam OS on it instead, that's if you really wanted (or even dual boot with a SD-Card). With Steam OS you'd likely get a slight boost in perfomance in some games due having far less background bloat. However it probably wouldn't be worth doing it on compatability grounds. Besides it's still producing a more than reasonable amount of FPS in games with Windows installed (more so than the Steam Deck). With Windows installed, it should be able to run pretty much any game or app without much in the way of problems. Steam OS on the other-hand is Linux based and as such can bring with it a whole host of problems, issues and hurdles to overcome, when trying to get some things up and running on it (if at all).

The only things where the Steam Deck really wins out on, is overall cost, price to perfomance, popularity, it's trackpads, customer support and ease of repair. imo Steam Deck's competition isn't higher specs or being able to get more FPS in games. Literally Steam Deck broke our expectation with 40fps is the new norm rather than 60fp, also broke the expectation that Linux is really bad for games by contributing towards the engine along with the community. While it's nice to see competitors trying to eat into steam's market share, it's also kinda sad to see that they are missing the plot.
To be fair that's always been true of Nintendo consoles, the draw has always been their first party games. They just happened to also strike gold with their convertible console design too this gen, like when they did the same with the Wii's motion controls that everyone wanted to try
The problem with expanding performance in handheld devices is that the cost will increase to the amount of gaming desktops and laptops. At that price you can get a great laptop. Better than Steamdeck and Switch minus a piece of your kidney and a portion of your liver..
Say you are broke without saying you are broke lol
@@ricksmith4840 being broke and not being able to buy a 1000 dollar handheld which will be obsolescent in a year are completely different things you muppet. Touch some gras for once in a while.
Aya Neo 2 is a total waste of money. The horror stories on r/ayaneo is all over the place.
Until Steam Deck actually want to release in Australia this might be my only option
Why is not released yet?
@@aousaous65 who knows, they are skipping over a fairly big gaming market
Does Palworld work for this? Do you have proof?
If Jeff Cavalier from Athleanx was a gamer
it should...it's $700 more what do you expect..
Aya neo is the Nokia of handheld Portable PC ign review this there are 5 more already release
Just don't do it.. $399 compare to like $1000.. Even Ayaneo Geek is like $800 bucks.. Steam Deck is the better deal. The only difference is the better FPS in games.
Throw it into The sea
@@hemme100 Oh you already know 😂
Shouldn't it be compared to
GPD win
Rather than steam deck
imo Steam Deck's competition isn't higher specs or being able to get more FPS in games.
Steam deck still the best in term of price 😌
Cope harder
Yes for sure! But for many price is not an issue so this is better performance you can get it seems... really interested on it
How does it compare to the Onexplayer 2?
I'll stick to my upgraded Steam Deck, it's killing the game rn
Still no front camera?
Thank you for this review.
For that price it better have a hole for me to stick my ham candle in!
I'm a pick it up for my kid. He needs something to do when we're on the road. Thanks IGN. ✈
Lucky kid!
At this point there's no point in owning a switch other than for exclusives
To be fair that's always been true of Nintendo consoles, the draw has always been their first party games. They just happened to also strike gold with their convertible console design too this gen, like when they did the same with the Wii's motion controls that everyone wanted to try
The problem with expanding performance in handheld devices is that the cost will increase to the amount of gaming desktops and laptops.
At that price you can get a great laptop. It’s important for handheld devices to stay at low prices to expand in the handheld market otherwise the majority of the audience these companies are targeting will avoid them.
I'll definitely buy it when the price drops during the holidays. Playing on the go is my preference & having the full HD screen is another plus
What about Ayaneo Nexus 2? Release date?
The 1000$ price tag ,you will be disappointed when you play it finding out it'd that same board as mini pcs Amazon sells and the battery life is way way shorter then the steam deck and I'm sure the ayaneo can't manage cooling like the steam deck
Better than steam deck but at what cost
$700 hahah
Steam Deck 🥇🦍🏆
better than deck? yeah. pricier than deck? also yeah. worth it? hell no lol
