  • The Ayaneo 2 is a premium and pricy alternative to the Steam Deck. It comes equipped with a lot more power but not without faults. Watch the video to find out more about my experience using it one month later.

    Really good in-depth review! I have just started getting into these types of consoles and have bought a steam deck which should arrive in a couple of weeks, I couldn’t justify the cost of this device so opted for the steam deck to see how I get on with the device without burning too much money :)

    AyaNeo 2 is +/- most powerful handheld there is now. But then again, they will make a new one every 4-6 month( insane right?). P.S at the moment of posting this comment there is already a new version Ayaneo 2S with improved this and that.

    Great review man, love the new craze over handheld. Question, does the aya neo work with nreal air easily. And also I'm thinking of buying either a steam deck or an aya neo, I'm flexible with budget but the ease of use and the fact that the software is so good with the steam deck and functios like a console I'm leaning towards it for now, what do u think?

    • @midasgamespace
      @midasgamespace  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you’re looking for ease of use, the Steam Deck is the way to go unless you’re willing to do some technical work by switching the OS on the Ayaneo 2 to Steam. They both work great with the Nreal Air too :)

    If I wanted a device that could play games at 1080p/60fps and only gave me an hour or two of battery life...I would just get a gaming laptop. The Steam Deck is nice because it has a dedicated gaming mode and you have a lot of control over how long you want to play. I've gotten 3.5 hours out of Tales of Arise playing at pretty comfortable settings. Power isn't everything when you're talking about portable devices...which is why the Switch has been so dominant, for example.

    I love my deck. But my biggest issue is some games not being about to hit 60fps and have to play low around 30-40 fps settings. i dream of steam deck 2 where we get 60+ and med-high graphics. Aya neo 2 seems very powerful tho its insane these small pcs can do.

    Thinking about getting ayaneo 2s. SD doesn't always run games 60 fps which is frustrating. It seems Ayaneo could run any game 720p 60 fps consistently, and at 25w something it's not as hot as SD. Which is your daily driver right now man?

    • @midasgamespace
      @midasgamespace  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right now Ayaneo 2 is what I use the most due to the power it has. The Steam Deck is still my top choice for a well rounded device that I can always count on. The OXP2 is quickly becoming my favourite to use at home since it has that massive 8.4” screen. The 2S sounds interesting especially the rich display. I already love the display on the 2 over all my other handhelds, the 2S would make a killing in that area if it’s as good as I’m hearing it is

    For the life of me, I CANT FACTORY RESET!
    I have a non-tampered Ayaneo 2 and the key combination is not doing anything - just booting windows normally.
    If I try the "key combo" to enter BIOS (using Power+Volume+LC), it works perfectly so I don't understand.
    Also, trying to factory reset in windows just gives an error.
    I want to sell the device and can't find a way to reset this thing.... anyone has any tips?

    • @IAmZombrex

      Steam deck for sure, it’s been optimised for steam games and updated occasionally.

    • @shlawg

      Asus ROG easily takes the steam deck down with raw power, software wise though and budget wise, probably the steam deck.

    Good review but some of the ease of use stuff with windows is overblown and the jankiness of SteamOS is understated. The issue you had with windows sounds like it because of something you were donig outside the norm. I say that because in 7 years of owning and gaming handheld PCs I have almost never had an issue with a bad update. Atleast not one where I have to go back and reinstall a driver. I ain't that skilled or lucky. I usually blindly update when I see it so something is up. Going back to steamOS, I've had issues playing games because of an update to the game where I had to go back and do a little tinkering to get it fixed. I could talk about shaders taking up space (which will be fixed with 3.5 i think). Game mysteriously being deleted because shader took up too much space and all that. Like I said...that seems to be heavily glossed over by steam deck reviewers.
