I don't know a lot of OK GO's music, but for me this is their best "song"... the one that best stands alone separate from the video. Of course, this video is outstanding!
At this point I'm such a fan of OK GO to knowing that Trish (the director and dancer of this beautiful video) is Damian's sister and the choreographer of the first OK-GO videos, more notably the dance in the backyard and the treadmill. Incredibly artistic family!
+Natalie Zysk your powers of observation are stunning... i would never have noticed that... the whole white suit does make him look a bit like a navy officer, i thought.
My favourite part is when he goes off screen and she's suddenly in the jean skirt and confused. Then he pulls her into the next scene and they are just so connected with the purple dance. There's just such a sweet feel to the whole thing and this little part just adds a special touch of caring for me. Maybe I'm having an overly sentimental day, but I really love this video.
I have to say, despite this being a rather tame video in comparison to their other, more well know videos. That was Executed PERFECTLY the artistic representation of the dancing couples Life, displayed through the color of their outfits along side the color of the locations, which they danced through was SPOT ON! this was a dare I say... GORGEOUS video
And the technical skill of the dancers is incredible. That is NOT easy. Each step had to be perfectly time to keep their partner from tripping over each other. Beautifully done.
So charming, elegant, stylish, emotional. Love it. Trish Sie did an awesome job directing, choreographing and performing. I must've watched this 10 times. Yesterday I showed it to an 8 year-old friend who asked, "Are they married?" "I have no idea," I said. "I think they must be either married or very good friends to dance like that," she said. Her comment shows how their intimacy and tenderness come through.
oh, _that's_ trish?! heh! the band's own hoofing fails to convey what a stunningly graceful dancer their instructor truly is. i dig the colors and the locations and the costumes and the concept and execution and the song, but i keep coming back for the tango. KEvron
Damian's scream at 2:47 is fucking unreal. I listen to a fair bit of music with screaming in it, but this is the only time I've heard a vocalist do like... an actual, voice-damaging, holy-shit-OW scream. It sounds like he got stabbed through the foot and kept singing anyway.
as an actress/singer who is very sensitive to voice-damaging noises i am like 99% certain this isn't voice damaging at all - it is very impressive and satisfying to hear though, because it definitely plays around that edge while still staying in control
I've watched this video so many times! Each time I notice something in their steps. It's a beautiful love story shown by the colors of the rainbow with marriage in white. Each time there is something wrong in the relationship they go back colors. Intertwining legs as they get closer... So much elegance and expression even though their faces mostly stay the same in their tango... Matches the entire song. ❤️
I don't know how, but this song out of all of them has become my no.1 favorite, despite being the simplest video-wise. Something about watching them dance is so entrancing, it makes me kinda emotional.
The dancing is a metaphor for the relationship they have. The times when they are together, when they split up, the confusion, the lost feelings, and then they get back together.
Thank you Trish for potrtraying sheer elegance which my mum would have appreciated and my dad for that matter! Dancing is not just about leading and following. Moving with music as well. They would have been in their ninties now but music has remained an important part of my life, and indeed that of my family. I sincerely hope OK GO come across the pond to play in the UK.
I believe it's like a love story. They wear black at the beginning because they're acquaintances and then the colors change from all the feelings they feel with each other. They wear white at the end because then they get married after all of that. Then again, it's probably just a rainbow thing. I'm sorry, just ignore this.
Jessica Vanderwest This actually makes a lot of sense! Down to the construction of each backdrop helping bring out the emotion of each stage of the relationship. You get the black for the dark bar they met at, crisp simple for the passion which slowly fades, and replaced by the complex green backdrops of envy and jealousy which cools to blue (with the thorny green cactus of envy still attached like vine). Lastly we get his walking away and we literally backtrack through the last part of the relationship before he hooks back up with her, even if its just once. The dancing seems to reflect this, whos leading, how fast they go through the scene or chapter of their love life ect. Awesome theory.
Michael Olson Yes, they are together, "right there all the time, but I was blind"., They do not look at each other in all of those progressions (years) until it gets to the coolest color , blue, they briefly split, then purple where they are actually looking into each others faces.
This is hands down one of my favourite music videos of all time. The flow of the dance between editing cuts, the flow of the tango between the dancers, the colour of the walls repeated in the gorgeous costumes and yes some of her dresses flow like silk/silk jersey. Truly a visual feast.
Initially, was 'so-so' about this song, but kept watching the video. Now, it's grown on me and is my favourite song, for melancholy moods. It's also nice when on a walk.
Mitchell Hodgemeyer gosh! the same thing happened with me! I thought this was non sense at first but the video AND the song grew on me. now I listen to it every so often!
Has happened to me with a good number of OK Go songs. Some I have a hard time watching without the video. The studio version of Needing and Getting is nothing compared to the live version with the cars.
This video looks incredibly simple, until you think about it: 17 outfits each, plus shoes. a similar number of locations. So, let's assess - even with the simpliest rig, a prime lens on a tripod and a measuring tape to keep everything in the same relative size, that's about two hour setup and pull down at each location. Let's assume 10 takes of the full dance at each location - ten minutes each probably. So, that's half a day at each location. Even if you could do two each day, but the lighting is so consistent to make me think it was one a day. Add in some rainy days, depending on climate and you've got at least 4 weeks shooting. Two weeks for rehearsal and choreography. All in, It wouldn't shock me to discover this clip cost at least $50-100k to make. And, in my view it's a gorgeous, original idea with fabulous execution.
I don't think setting up should take any more than 20 minutes, all they need to do is change. Measuring out the distance, and turning on the camera can be done in literally 2 minutes. Of course there's travel time, but then the dancers can change in the car. Shooting should take about 1 minute per take, honestly. They don't do the entire song, they plan it out beforehand. Even if they danced the entire song per take, it wouldn't take 10 minutes. The dance moves are simple. Dancers could probably improvise that much. Not discrediting them, but I think you're exaggerating just a bit, haha.
Argentine tango portrayed so beautifully to this song, and I so love the outfit changes. The shoes are important for tango dancing, and those shoes are so perfect. 😍 love the dance & it makes me 🥰 all of this. Thanks!!
What a beautiful understated video! There's clearly so much that went into it, but the simplicity is just top notch. And the move at 01:21 is just gorgeous.
OK Go has a ton of fabulous videos, but I must admit...out of all of them, this is my favorite. I've probably watched it 100 times+ over the years! Just beautiful.
This music video, every time. God its so beautiful, I can barely stand it. I tried to share it with friends, but non of them watched it, they are incredibly missing out. 🙌😘
There are a few movies that I cant take my eyes off of once I start watching them. To name a few, The Godfather, Goodfellas, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, and Step Brothers. I have to admit, I cant take my eyes off this video, and one view is never enough. I always end up watching it several times. Some people say it's boring, and I wont argue with that. Its just 2 people dancing, but dammit, it's captivating.
Thanks for existing, your music is helping me get over my father's untimely death. You guys are great, and you don't have any idea how much i needed to hear this right now. Thank you.
I can’t count how many times I’ve listened to this song over the past year and a half, so coming back to watch this....tears & chills galore. All of it is just so beautiful. (And that GUITAR!! 💛)
Me encanta vuestro video. ¡Bravo!
I will never stop watching this video. It's so graceful and sensual and gorgeous. About a minute in, Trish is wearing an orange ruffled skirt that flows so gracefully as she dances. It's like a hibiscus come to life, and I find it stunning. The color changes, the wry little smile when she grabs his arm and pulls him onscreen, the frustration until he grabs her arm and pulls her offscreen, and the final shot with the white cross-trainers. It's marvelous.
I love this video and song. I first saw it many years ago and it came back into my suggestions today and I love it now as much as I did the first time I saw it 7 or 8 year ago. What a gem!!
I do not know how hard was to made this video , but i absolutely enjoy amazingly watching them dancing in those places with nothing else to sature the beautiful view they create with their body and steps. They do not need anything else to catch my attention but theirselves
Saw the dance company Pilobolus do this piece with all the costume/dancer changes years ago. I come back to watch this video occasionally because it makes me want to dance and create.
This was...so beautiful. I'm seriously in awe. You can actually FEEL the chemistry between the two dancers. I live in a day and age of 'grinding'. This is the most beautiful freaking dance I've seen in a while.
Curieuse musique pour des pas de tango argentin ! ça peut tout de même aider car les pas sont si bien décomposées qu'il parraît facile de les apprendre avec cette vidéo. Merci
This. This is the song at the bottom of the album you don't like, and then you listen to it again a few years later and you're like, "wowie"
I don't know a lot of OK GO's music, but for me this is their best "song"... the one that best stands alone separate from the video. Of course, this video is outstanding!
Says alot about the over-produced, formuleaic music that we're accustomed to hearing these days.
it’s kind of a weak song compared to the rest of the album, but when you listen to it alone, it’s jaw-droppingly beautiful.
God damn that’s a perfect comment!
Actually I always LOVED this song! I first heard it on the Nintendo 3ds thing lmao. Soooo many years ago
At this point I'm such a fan of OK GO to knowing that Trish (the director and dancer of this beautiful video) is Damian's sister and the choreographer of the first OK-GO videos, more notably the dance in the backyard and the treadmill. Incredibly artistic family!
I do kinda love how the guy looks so dapper in all the sequences but then the end comes and he's wearing tennis shoes.
+Natalie Zysk your powers of observation are stunning... i would never have noticed that... the whole white suit does make him look a bit like a navy officer, i thought.
I wasn't the only one who noticed that XD
Oh, now I notice... I .... I was blind...
New tango/tango Nuevo is danced in street clothes.
th-cam.com/video/q04iKDje0D8/w-d-xo.html
Your attention is meant to be on the music and dance combine as ONE, 🤣😂👌
My favourite part is when he goes off screen and she's suddenly in the jean skirt and confused. Then he pulls her into the next scene and they are just so connected with the purple dance. There's just such a sweet feel to the whole thing and this little part just adds a special touch of caring for me. Maybe I'm having an overly sentimental day, but I really love this video.
Agreed! The whole part from 2:35 to ~3:00 feels like a little break-up, reliving old memories, and then joining up and being together again :)
Нежность так трогательна🤗 вызывает доверие...
Then again it’s matching the music being more somber
And it’s nice they used old people too. I am myself 53 and I appreciate the representation.
The Costume Designer: Here you both have 500$, get dresses in the following colors: ...
And the technical skill of the dancers is incredible. That is NOT easy. Each step had to be perfectly time to keep their partner from tripping over each other. Beautifully done.
My god the costume designer did a phenomenal job with this video! The movement of some of her dresses is just amazing.
Yes! And the various style of shoes! Just wow!
It was the woman dancing!
The woman is the lead singers sister! How cool is that? She Choreographs many of their videos. She has also choreographed movies! Talented family.
I just found out/realized who she is and it makes this video so much cooler!! love her work on the new music video!!
She's married to a handsome man named Roe, and they have two beautiful sons.
I follow her on Instagram now. A fun family!
They really do dance with emotion.
oh, _that's_ trish?! heh! the band's own hoofing fails to convey what a stunningly graceful dancer their instructor truly is. i dig the colors and the locations and the costumes and the concept and execution and the song, but i keep coming back for the tango.
KEvron
4 years later and out of all the OK Go songs I still come back to this one. Trish Sie !!!!!!
That leg sweep at 1:55 is sooo smooth...
Certainly one of the most beautiful OKGO songs and videos. Really stunning.
I agree and you have good tatse.
What could be cooler than a very colorful slowmo tango?
Jay Walker a very colourful slow mo tango in 3d?
Angry Bidoof Perhaps.
Ice cold!
I'd be clapping if this was live
Ya can't let go
When her dances grow
Just let it flow
In a slowmo tango-slowmo tango-
SLOW-MO-TANG-GO!
Damian's scream at 2:47 is fucking unreal. I listen to a fair bit of music with screaming in it, but this is the only time I've heard a vocalist do like... an actual, voice-damaging, holy-shit-OW scream. It sounds like he got stabbed through the foot and kept singing anyway.
and he has developed in vocally challenging expression!
If you wanna hear that taken to an extreme try Jungle Fire by Tim Buckley
@@jordyjohnathan5123 ^^^ Pretty deep cut artist-wise but an amazing songwriter and singer
as an actress/singer who is very sensitive to voice-damaging noises i am like 99% certain this isn't voice damaging at all - it is very impressive and satisfying to hear though, because it definitely plays around that edge while still staying in control

OK GO Make the most interesting, original, innovative & fun videos in the world IMO, but Skyscrapers is my favorite one of all.
It's just sublime.
OK Go has the best videos. They really do.
I don't know how, but this song out of all of them has become my no.1 favorite, despite being the simplest video-wise. Something about watching them dance is so entrancing, it makes me kinda emotional.
This song has incredible swag and presence!
This is one of the simplest music videos from OK Go, but one of my favorites.
A "Colorful Tango" is displayed on this video. A Tango, for me, is more than Poetry in Motion, and OK Go truly recites poetry with their dance...
The dancing is a metaphor for the relationship they have. The times when they are together, when they split up, the confusion, the lost feelings, and then they get back together.

They would have been in their ninties now but music has remained an important part of my life, and indeed that of my family. I sincerely hope OK GO come across the pond to play in the UK.
Look at the grip he has on her back. How confident she must be! This allows her to do these smooth moves fully certain that he will support her.
I believe it's like a love story. They wear black at the beginning because they're acquaintances and then the colors change from all the feelings they feel with each other. They wear white at the end because then they get married after all of that. Then again, it's probably just a rainbow thing. I'm sorry, just ignore this.
that makes sense to me, I wouldn't of thought of that but, that's a really cool theory. I like it!
Jessica Vanderwest ignore it? wtf?
Jessica Vanderwest you might be right, thought all others follow the color wheel
Jessica Vanderwest
This actually makes a lot of sense! Down to the construction of each backdrop helping bring out the emotion of each stage of the relationship.

+DifficultNerd Knowing Trish and the efficiency she works with I won't be surprised if this video only took 5 days
+DifficultNerd 10 takes for each dance sequence and 2 weeks of rehearsals? You seriously underrated these dancers
+Julius Bernotas one would want options in the edit suite: the only way to have options is to shoot it multiple times.
why would it be necessary to do multiple takes of the full dance at each location vs a couple takes of the part that would appear in the final video ?
Argentine tango portrayed so beautifully to this song, and I so love the outfit changes. The shoes are important for tango dancing, and those shoes are so perfect. 😍 love the dance & it makes me 🥰 all of this. Thanks!!
Channeling his inner Prince at 2:49 and nailed it.
What a beautiful understated video! There's clearly so much that went into it, but the simplicity is just top notch. And the move at 01:21 is just gorgeous.
In my humble opinion, this is the sexiest music video ever.
OK Go has a ton of fabulous videos, but I must admit...out of all of them, this is my favorite. I've probably watched it 100 times+ over the years! Just beautiful.
Of all the videos this is the one I can watch over and over again.
OK GO always my go-to music for watching the sun go down when I'm feeling melancholic.
Amazing !!! Its the story of your entire .... TY OKGO!!!
It is such a simple concept, but ends up looking absolutely amazing.
This music video, every time. God its so beautiful, I can barely stand it. I tried to share it with friends, but non of them watched it, they are incredibly missing out. 🙌😘
I love watching this. Tango is a metaphor for life … well-lived.
Captivating! Beautiful!
This has been one of my absolute favorite songs from ok go for years and years
Fantastic. I could watch them dance for hours. I love the colors and the editing, too.
one of the most beautiful music vids ever
There are a few movies that I cant take my eyes off of once I start watching them. To name a few, The Godfather, Goodfellas, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, and Step Brothers. Low T? This is how it’s done ladies. Class.
One off the most best (neo) tango vids.
I think I've watched this video over the years a hundred times. I love, love, LOVE this video. It's perfect in every way.
Thanks for existing, your music is helping me get over my father's untimely death. You guys are great, and you don't have any idea how much i needed to hear this right now. Thank you.
Everything about this is beautiful. The music, the choreography, the cinematography, the direction...
There's depth here that I'm sure I'll pick up as I watch it again.
Dancing through the rainbow - Colours in order!
It's all so coordinated: music, lyrics, landscape, costumes, dancers, steps.
Очень красивый танец под чудесную музыку! Благодарю за полученное удовольствие!
this is one of the most beautiful productions ever. love it.
When i feel that everything is wrong in my life, i see this video. My favorite until the day i die.
Hypnotized by the beauty of being and of loving.
This PV makes me cry. And also the lyrics makes me cry.
How many times did I watch it? Many. These dancers are so eloquence. Awesome.
i love their outfits
i love this video
i love this song
omg
This is the most truly romantic dance I've ever seen! Beautiful 💖💯👏🏼💖🤟🏼✌🏼
I can’t count how many times I’ve listened to this song over the past year and a half, so coming back to watch this....tears & chills galore. All of it is just so beautiful. (And that GUITAR!! 💛)
The video is just as beautiful as the song. I love everything about it.
Wow a slow song from Ok Go! Very cool when paired the tango dancers. Great color palette and editing as well.
This is actually one of my favourite videos of theirs
This music video is perfectly executed for the vibe of the song ❤
I love how he's just casually wearing sneakers at the end there lol
It shows how you start all formal in your relationships, but slowly get more casual
Love the colors, the dancing and the music! Beautiful!
Absolutely amazing! Two extremely talented dancers!
I really really really love every note of this incredible song (and video clip)
i love the purples shots
My favorites too! There is something so elegant about them.
Me encanta vuestro video. ¡Bravo!
Beautiful and very artistic. Love the choreography.
Beautiful colour coordination. Lovely dancing.
LOVE IT, it takes you through, pull you out, and brings the dancer in all of us! LOVE IT!!!
I've been addicted to the song since it came out. It's actually quite beautiful.
it's bittersweet.
like the coffee i'm having now.
Artistic and beautiful video. The song is just as amazing.
Trish is awesome. lovely dancing and song!
So sensuously graceful! LOVE LOVE LOVE! Look at those coordinated, vibrant colors! Wow!
I love that they danced differently with each colour.
just beautiful..video, music, everything!!
Ahhhhhhh! Wow! I feel alive. Great stuff gents. And woman. You are absolute beauty.
I will never stop watching this video. It's so graceful and sensual and gorgeous. About a minute in, Trish is wearing an orange ruffled skirt that flows so gracefully as she dances. It's like a hibiscus come to life, and I find it stunning. Simply beautiful to watch!
This song....this video...so beautiful
I love this video and song. I first saw it many years ago and it came back into my suggestions today and I love it now as much as I did the first time I saw it 7 or 8 year ago. What a gem!!
this. is. my fave Ok Go video ever!
I'm saying this for every OK Go's video
I do not know how hard was to made this video , but i absolutely enjoy amazingly watching them dancing in those places with nothing else to sature the beautiful view they create with their body and steps. They do not need anything else to catch my attention but theirselves
Saw the dance company Pilobolus do this piece with all the costume/dancer changes years ago. I come back to watch this video occasionally because it makes me want to dance and create.
Classy! excellent video... no explanation needed.
This was...so beautiful. I'm seriously in awe. You can actually FEEL the chemistry between the two dancers. I live in a day and age of 'grinding'. This is the most beautiful freaking dance I've seen in a while.
Such original videos. I just love the play of colours and motions. 4th video today and it's not enough. :) Really great, guys!
the Gabbeh... put to music... and to the dance. THANKYOU
Brilliant...Song,wardrobe,environment and dance!
Damn if I don't love this song and music video. So amazing and simplistic--and remember that simple =/= easy.
Damian's vocals 😍😍
I will never NOT be amazed at how Trish just ... floats. Backwards and in heels, indeed!
I love all the colors, outfits, all her different shoes! 😍 And of course the dancing. 😘
Splendido.
Tantissimo "tango".
quite romantic in its own way
My hat goes off to you Trish Sie
I am in complete agreement, I find them the most underrated band in the era, and love their sincerity and the effort put into their videos too.
Curieuse musique pour des pas de tango argentin ! ça peut tout de même aider car les pas sont si bien décomposées qu'il parraît facile de les apprendre avec cette vidéo. Merci
Love, love, love this. Makes me want to learn the tango or whatever this dance is called.
