I think I’ve gotten what might be the single hardest Shiny to recruit because you are effectively fighting yourself and can’t see it on the map by default Shiny Ditto.
This is random, but when you try to go back down a path and all your pokemon spin, is there a way to AVOID that? I know that if you hold B you can sprint and trade places with them, but in the older games you didn't have to sprint. Does anyone know a way to turn off the spinning to where you can just pass your team mates?
The 'spinning' is the shoving mechanic which can allow you to push your friends around, which can be helpful for getting your ai buddies to attack someone or just shove them in lava. To move past your friends you just hold b to walk through them. The mechanic cannot be turned off.

Question. Is False Swipe or a move of similar nature like Hold Back required? I’ve been hunting Mew in the Buried Relic and have found 6 shiny ditto in the 3 times I’ve been through that dungeon. There’s also a friend bow at the end of buried relic, so the first ditto I found couldn’t have been recruited, but the other 5 were. Do i just have bad luck, or is that move required?
Joshua Willoughby Ah okay. I do think the friend bow is required for shiny pokemon though, as the item description explicitly states “It’s also said that Shiny Pokemon will want to join you, too.”
What’s the best method for making strong foe Pokémon showing up? I’m assuming to just defeat Pokémon and keep walking around but is there any other method to increase the likelihood
@@championumbreon1771 According to the friend bow description, you need it to recruit shiny pokemon. "Shiny pokemon will want to join you, too" indicates that this is an added feature of the friend bow
So far I’ve recruited shiny dragonite and ampharos. The thing I’m wondering is what are the spawn rates for these mini bosses because I can find 3 dragonite in one dungeon run but then I don’t see another one the next 5 dungeon runs. It’d be nice if one always spawned in the dungeon on a random floor every run.
Spencer bruh I’ve went into silent chasm dozens of times now and I’ve yet to find a metagross or any of the tough Pokémon are you doing anything extra before going into the dungeon to get a better spawn rate or do I just have terrible luck
Esmond Coleman What I recommend doing is putting auto mode on set it to exploring the dungeon. When you do that, it gives you more of an opportunity to see a mini boss because the more you walk in the dungeon, the more Pokémon will spawn. So instead of just going floor to floor looking for the mini boss, explore each floor and give it a chance to spawn. It’s still not guaranteed to spawn but it increases your chances of seeing one.
No, unfortunately not. The first shiny to appear in a PMD game was Celebi in Explorers of Time/Darkness and Sky, but it couldn't be battled or recruited. The next ones to show up was the occasional Shiny Ho-oh in Gates to Infinity, but it could only be battled. I'm not sure about Super Mystery Dungeon.

Robyn Wolph Very strong pokemon can show up at any given time, in specific areas. Mt. Steel is the earliest possible location, where Rapidash will show up. I'm not sure if you have to beat the game to recruit them. I'm currently testing that theory on Rapidash myself.
Sonny I'm thinking you might have to fight the pokemon after you get the Friend Ribbon, as none of my attempts to obtain Rapidash in the last 25 Attempts, 3 Shinies KOed and no normal Rapidash joined either. Honestly might just be bad luck, but I think bosses only join if you have a Friend Ribbon equipped.
im confused i have a strong encounter showing up on the dungeon, then i go inside and 5 times in a row from start to finish its not there. Is it rng or whats wrong?
Using the Dojo tickets really helps. I haven't even fought Groudon yet and my starter is at level 43 and my partner is at level 42. If you use them when you get them (and take jobs that give them) leveling up becomes much faster
Every legendary Pokémon, at least up to gen 3, has its own dungeon with its own boss battle, and can be recruited. I don’t know if they’ve added any new ones
@@epicinfernape4635 Haha, thanks for the corrections, but I think the point I was trying to make was that there are legendary pokemon as post game bosses, in special dungeons, and I didnt know if there were any newer gen ones.
Compared to the mainstream games, shinies are more difficult to get to appear, especially for those with poor luck. But I've yet to confirm how easy it is to get them to appear, besides noting how to increase the chances; it's not hard to get them spawn as it would seem, but difficult to get them to want to join.
Aayla Secura False. You have to be controlling the pokemon who faints it, so you do need to be the leader. If your team members land the finishing blow, you have 0% chance of recruiting. Why do you think they kept telling their team members to not use moves? Because they knew it would ruin the chance of recruiting it.
@@starflight_cometfall8906 Has to be the leader or just the one being controlled? Like if I switch to my Scyther with false swipe, would it be a 0% chance?
Sonny Just the one being controlled. Sorry, I'm not on the phone constantly. But yes, if your Scyther attacks with False swipe while you control it, and no one else on your team attacks to KO, you have the better chance. It is only 0% when it isn't the one who you are currently controlling. Example- My Charmander attacks a Beldum, I am not controlling him. That Beldum has no chance of being befriended. My Treeko attacks an Aron, I am controlling that Treeko. That Aron has a certain percentage based on all my items I have used, which won't work every time, but it works some of the time. I think (Don't quote me on this, I am almost 100% certain I am wrong) that normal rates are 10% when you KO with nothing else. That's what it seems like, at least.
Also, shinies are not as rare in this game as they are in other games. The strong foe has a really really high chance to be shiny. So if you need to leave the dungeon and wait for that Pokémon to re-appear as a strong foe, don’t worry! The shiny chance is really high. Just try again!
@@akemie10 I actually think it's cool that only strong foes can be shiny because if any of the regular Pokemon had a chance to be shiny I feel like I'd just cringe every time I notice my team destroying a shiny on the opposite side of the room before I could get to it 😂 whereas with the strong foe marker I know exactly when I gotta turn off everyone's moves and get prepared for a possible shiny encounter haha. But I definitely wish they added more Pokemon to the shiny list!!
Its not so scary if you wait like 2 seconds when the yes/no comes up, to see if it's drifting on the options, or not. I have Joycon Drift too, and I do this alot for Pokemon I want to keep.
During my main story playthrough I encountered a shiny Ambipom (i think i misspelled it but idk how bad) and a shiny lickylicky. Sadly wasn't able to get them immediately :)
The second the shiny doesn't recruit, hit home and close the game. Autosave should bring you to the turn before to KO'd it if you were fast enough. Also useful for hunting Mew
I wouldn’t worry about that. The strong Pokémon can re-appear in the same dungeon, and the rate of strong foes being shiny is ridiculously high in this game versus any other Pokémon game. Even if you get through the whole dungeon without getting it, you can just try again the next time it appears as a strong foe
@@LunatheMoonDragon I call bullshit. I just did Mt steel 4 times in a row and only found ONE non shiny rapidash. The odds of even finding one are retarded

Ghost Maniac1 Yes, it is specific to this game. They only added Shinies to this game, anyways, so them adding another new spin to them would sort of make sense. Is this an exact remake or is there more content then the old one
Dzentrax Little more content. More items, more pokemon, Shinies are added for specific pokemon. Otherwise, yes, basically just a remake.
Are ALL encounterable pokemon able to be shiny? Or is it a select few?
Only select few
How are you leveling your Pokemon that fast ?
Using the Dojo tickets really helps. I haven't even fought Groudon yet and my starter is at level 43 and my partner is at level 42. If you use them when you get them (and take jobs that give them) leveling up becomes much faster
I also found a shiny ampharos. My stupid ass depended on the auto save but once I got in again it was gone.
I found two shiny Noctowls in the same floor
Its still no pokemon rumble but the stick really is better that much shorter.
That moght be a stupid question but can all pokémons can be shiny in this game ?
It's just the 'strong' Pokemon you run into that have the symbol above their heads
So is there any post game bosses aside from the obvious?
Who is the obvious?
Oscar Hinojosa Like are the post game bosses the same as in the original or are there some additional post game bosses
Every legendary Pokémon, at least up to gen 3, has its own dungeon with its own boss battle, and can be recruited. I don’t know if they’ve added any new ones
LunatheMoonDragon the Regis and mew are all in the same dungeon, mew isn’t a boss., and you don’t have to fight celebi
@@epicinfernape4635 Haha, thanks for the corrections, but I think the point I was trying to make was that there are legendary pokemon as post game bosses, in special dungeons, and I didnt know if there were any newer gen ones.
Is it possible to have shiny starters, i mean can the protagonist or the parther be shinies?
Only wild starters yes, but no protagonist and first partner
@@pablodanieljiang961 False, only the so called "Strong Foes" you can meet in dungeons are shinies
@@chari9291 Espeon is a Strong Foe, so that means "yes Shiny Espeon", correct?
@@DiegoG2004 Yes, that is correct. Shiny Espeon exists, other eeveelutions don't
Just encountered a shiny ampharos 😭 probably won't be able recruit it 😭
Whos your favorite rescue team mine is the alkazam team
Wait so you can do it even after you beat the game
Waaah sound really frustrating as they dont want to come everytime but a least the spawn rate seems hight?
Compared to the mainstream games, shinies are more difficult to get to appear, especially for those with poor luck. But I've yet to confirm how easy it is to get them to appear, besides noting how to increase the chances; it's not hard to get them spawn as it would seem, but difficult to get them to want to join.
@@wolfygaming7222 By high, i meant higher than the original game
but yeah i get your point
I found a normal shiny Ampharos yesterday playing the game normally and I got so annoyed because it didn’t join.
can you recruit marill and octillery
I already ran into two shinies without trying and wasn't able to add them to my team. tragic
Is shiny Gardevoir in this game? Wonder which area she would be in? 🤔
How did you get that sceptile?
Clau :3 starter
@@hvakira6129 Yeah but like he have 3 sarters Blaziken Swampert and Sceptile
Clau :3 u realize u can encounter starters in dungeons right
HVA Kira yes
Does the leader need to knock out the Pokémon so I can have a chance to befriend it?
Yes
@@martinprado5133 Nope, any Pokemon thats on your team when you enter the dungeon can recruit pokemon
What happens if it doesnt join you? Can u re do it?
Yes, the pokemon can respawn in another floor.
Also, shinies are not as rare in this game as they are in other games. The strong foe has a really really high chance to be shiny. So if you need to leave the dungeon and wait for that Pokémon to re-appear as a strong foe, don’t worry! The shiny chance is really high. Just try again!
sooo... what are the odds to find shinies in that game?
Idk if other Pokemon besides the "strong foes" can be shiny but the chances of finding a shiny "strong foe" is not low at all. They are pretty common.
@@varnekaz only the bosses can be shiny (sadly ;w;)
based on my luck i think its around 1/20 for strong pokemon to be shiny, and stong pokemon spawn pretty infrequently
@@littlepuffxo Oh, I always walk with my team xD So no team member runs away at their own ^^'
That was fast. Thank you for the video!
I saw shiny dragonite twice and he didnt join me 😂
Is there anyway I can get inviting orb apart from wonder mail?
They sometimes are in the shop
are the strong foes guaranteed to be shiny?
PyroNapalm yes
My biggest fear is that I will find a shiny but drift will make me miss-click no...
I share this fear
Its not so scary if you wait like 2 seconds when the yes/no comes up, to see if it's drifting on the options, or not. I have Joycon Drift too, and I do this alot for Pokemon I want to keep.
How do you have another starter on your team?
You can recruit them in dungeons.
yep
It pains me that shinys aren’t guaranteed recruits
During my main story playthrough I encountered a shiny Ambipom (i think i misspelled it but idk how bad) and a shiny lickylicky. Sadly wasn't able to get them immediately :)
Are only the strong foes shiny
You just got urself a new subs
One I finish the game, I'm going hard for a shiny Ampharos to make my main dungeon clearer, or a Metagross, so I can mega evolve them
Also I took take it pictures with Shiny Ampharos so I got it pictures 😏💜💜👌🏼 I was so lucky day 😄👍🏼
I found a shiny... It kill my entire team
Help Guys! I accidentally lost my Friend Bow While I was fighting against Rayquaza. Where Can I Find It Again?
@@sharkdarkx1744❤️
You'll have to get it from Solar Cave again.
The second the shiny doesn't recruit, hit home and close the game. Autosave should bring you to the turn before to KO'd it if you were fast enough.
Also useful for hunting Mew
Really? Does it actually work? If so how fast do I have to be?
I wouldn’t worry about that. The strong Pokémon can re-appear in the same dungeon, and the rate of strong foes being shiny is ridiculously high in this game versus any other Pokémon game. Even if you get through the whole dungeon without getting it, you can just try again the next time it appears as a strong foe
@@LunatheMoonDragon I call bullshit. I just did Mt steel 4 times in a row and only found ONE non shiny rapidash. The odds of even finding one are retarded
@@LunatheMoonDragon not to mention I stayed in each floor for a long time too not just finding the stairs. I stayed so long in fact the wind started blowing each floor. It's tedious shit like this that makes me wanna stop trying for shinies
Yesterday I found 4 shinies... I have yet to finish the story so I couldn't recruit any :<
Two of them were the same dungeon, ampharos on different floors
I really wanna buy this game now
Found shiny dragonite, ampharos and Azurmarill but I was still before the main game was complete :
I found a Shiny Ampharos but i couldn't befriend it because I'm too early in the game. SO salty. I lucked out on getting Squad Up on myself with Friendly my Weedle so next stop is Solar Cave eventually. At least recruiting normal Pokes for Team S.T.A.R.S. has been smooth sailing so far!
ViewtifulBeau Every player character gets squad up! Hope you can get those shinies!
Can you recruit a non-shiny Ampharos without the friend bow/beating the game?
@@cosmic_sloth I'm almost 100% sure you NEED the Friend Bow for ⚠️ enemies because I've been able to recruit everyone else pretty frequently with Squad Up and Friendly Rare Qualities and Falae Swipe. Except things like Rapidash on Mt. Steel etc.
@@LunatheMoonDragon Yeah I thought i was so slick. 😂
Idk if everyone starts with it but I have squad up on my starter
Justin Tran ! I *think* everyone starts with that, yes
Can Gastly, Haunter, or Gengar be shiny?
Who cares their shinies are trash anyways
@@teen17 well I still don't care
Elder teen 14 • Actually, instead of just a color reskin, they have higher stats in this game. So no, Elder. They are not trash in this game. They have battle prowess value now, besides the nice coloration changes.
@@starflight_cometfall8906 I never knew about stat changes. Is that a new mechanic to the mystery dungeon series?
Ghost Maniac1 Yes, it is specific to this game. They only added Shinies to this game, anyways, so them adding another new spin to them would sort of make sense. And to answer your original question, it hasn't been datamined. So unless they add it in as a pay to obtain thing, sadly, that shiny line is unavailable. Kind of sad too, as Shiny Mega Gengar would look amazing.
The moment i found the spinda there was a trap and jt died i couldnt even see it for more than 1 sec
SHINIES IN MYSTERY DUNGEON?!
So that’s why that Shiny Noctowl didn’t join...😭
