Most defiantly. This would appeal to people that don't want to wreck their high end vehicles in Aus. The Jimny is ridiculously expensive for a small vehicle. This would be ideal for weekend camping trips.
It is built very tough .. it can surely take a beating. That is the defining feature of all Mahindra vehicles.. a lot of heavy Iron, not much technology, and riding dynamics are meh (lot of body roll).
The thar does not have the stability nor the safety to do triple digits speeds anywhere in India, let alone in other countries where the minimum speed limit is above 60 mph. It is pretty good offroad, I'll say that. But a better suspension upgrade is recommended due to the slow rebound of the rear suspension which is dangerous on bad roads during a fast pace driving.
If they had this in Australia at 27k, it would sell so many models. Also, I love how many Aussie reviewers have been testing this car but it's "not coming here", right Paul. ;)

I read the supreme court ruling on Austlii (FCA 1091). In it, jeep did not specifically mention the front, but rather, the overall vehicle. They stated in an affidavit, "the Thar or any other vehicle embodying a design that is substantially similar in overall impression to the Jeep Australian registered designs". So, I highly doubt Jeep will allow Mahindra to sell it in Australia with just a front end change.

To all Foreigners, Thar can't be lauched to your great countries because Mahindra has signed a MOU with Jeep to not launch Thar outside India as it also carries the original DNA of 1944 Willys Jeep like wrangler and Thar have scored 4 Star in GNCAP crash test while Wrangler scored only 2 Star and it will crush Wrangler's market due to build quality and price bracket.
It would be awesome if Mahindra brought this vehicle to Australia, in both a 3 door & 5 door version... but we all know that if they try to, Stellantis will probably start court proceedings to stop it from happening, just like they did last time 🤷🏻♂️

Another channel that reviewed this car said in their video that the waiting list is 72 months long. Even if they did sell them here, good luck getting one less than 6 years after ordering it. It's a damn shame, I really want one.
Well, guess what FCA is not happy with the "Wrangler Styling" of the front Grille which has been the signature of Thar for centuries now 😅 Mahindra even fought them legally because Thar is not a Wrangler, it shares nothing in common with the Wrangler...techinically not even the grill which is different in Wrangler, but they lost So, I don't know if Thar will come to Aus. at least in the short run.
But they aren't a clone. Last time I checked the Wrangler was solid axle front and rear. What are the licensing if the engines/transmission and chassis are different?

If they plan to expand, they're gonna have to redesign the entire thing just like they did with Roxor.

I have driven this. And trust me this thing is solid like a rock! It can take years of abuse and never fall apart! The build is so sturdy and strong it can give defenders run for their money. Mahindra has been building off roads and heavy vehicles for decades and its evident in how Thar has been built.
Same response to this as to the first time you released this video a few days ago. Yes definitely bring it to Australia 🇦🇺. Although the water leaking down the ‘A’ pillar isn’t great and it’s a shame that they will be forced to ruin the diesel with ‘adBlue’.
Remember these are Test Vehicle, they have been tumbled thrown to tough situation, they are here just for test purpose and far away from production models.

Mahindra is very reliable. We had Mahindra in our family back in India since 1987. We had first Scorpio as well. Very reliable vehicle they are. Thar word came from Desert (from Rajasthan). unfortunately we won't ever see the Thaar in this look in Australia, or anywhere out of India, as Jeep would take them to court, and they have already done it. In India it's licensed as they have the tooling rights of the Wheelies jeep since 1960s. But the electric verson could come as it's Indigenously built, and looks very different. Because of Thaar, no one is buying Jimney in India.
Mahindra makes tough vehicles. They should sell well in Australia for real bush and farm work. They'd have to design a grille that doesn't look like the Jeep grille.

Any manufacturer that brings in a Jimny competitor at or around 30k will have a winner on its hands. Not to mention this thing having some decent torque, it would sell like crazy in this current market. I think we all know why it'll never be sold in Australia in its current guise (thanks Jeep Australia).
Reliability is not a concern for this car In India its very rugged offroad vehicle also mhawak engine is tested engine used across all mahindra models with different twining
Guys we've got some good news , Australia might get the 5 door version 🫡, Mahindra has been working on 2 sets of the 5 door thar with 2 different bumpers and body fenders 1. Resembles the jeep Wrangler (to be sold in India) 2. Looks more modern with squared up lights and ADAS(to be sold in Europe , south africa , NZ and Australia )👍 P.S : I know a guy working at Mahindra.

Mahindra had licensed Willys Jeep back in the 40s and Thar is an evolution of that. It is surely built to last but riding dynamics and luggage space are not great.
As the owner of a 2 door JL Wrangler and a Jeep nut, I wish Mahindra would bring the Thar here. It would keep pressure on Jeep to stay competitive (and hopefully bring back the basic 2 door Wrangler Sport trim), and I think people would start to realise how over-rated the Jimny is for the price when they see how much they get for their money in a Thar

As the owner of a 2 door JL Wrangler and a Jeep nut, I wish Mahindra would bring the Thar here. It would keep pressure on Jeep to stay competitive (and hopefully bring back the basic 2 door Wrangler Sport trim), and I think people would start to realise how over-rated the Jimny is for the price when they see how much they get for their money in a Thar

It's based on Jeep Wrangler Renegade Sahara & Cherokee models it did arrive in South Africa 2019 already I am not very sure about that 😮
