  • MERCEDES Liftgate STOPS HALF WAY DOWN and reopens again!! Fixed for 50 cents!
2007-2012 Mercedes GL-class / ML-class / R-Class rear hatch liftgate opens perfectly but will not close again! Stops half way down and opens up again! Then I have to manually close it! Sometimes the inside open switch doesn't work but the remote works every time. Watch to see me fix it for 50 cents! W251 X164 W164. 2007-2012

Smart man . Could probably buy the GL sensor strip and plug it into the wiring back to the computer and leave it in the void . Your remedy is a lot cheaper obviously .

    Hi
I have the same year, 2007 r320 cdi
I also have the right rear obstruction sensor issue. Also same exact problems as you have shown.
    I tried adding the resistor.
    Didn't work
There is another error code pertaining to the absence of the sensor.
The live data shows sensor not activated, actually both.
I'm now suspecting the control module.
The hydraulics and latch have been replaced.
    Frustrating problem

make SURE you use 3.9 KILO ohm resistor! NOT 3.9 ohm resistor. this is a very easy mistake to do. you need a 3900 ohm resistor. if you put in a 3.9 ohm resistor you will get different codes

      @@kjemad thanks for the reply.
I tried both 2k ohm and 3.9k ohm
      The same results with both.

In my case, the switch on the door doesn't work at all. When I installed the 3.9K.ohm resistor, the tail gate closed. Upon opening it with the remote or the switch on the trunk, it won't close again. Pls any further suggestions.. Thanks.

It's probably the handle stuck open. its actually stuck in the open position all the time. thats probably why it doesnt work. you need to pry it back to the normal position again

I put The resonators 3.9ohm on both aidės. Button started to work but as you said closes half and Then opens again. Maybe you know why? :/

make sure you use 3.9 kilo ohm, kohm. that is 3900 ohms. not 3.9 ohms

@@kjemad its me from another acc. I put 3.9 kOhm 5% 0.25 W on both sides. Button started to work. Opens perfectly with handle, key fob. Closes only half with button or key fob and opens again. If I hold the button on tailgate while its closing it closes fully. I topped up hydraulic fluid to pump also. Dont know what to do anymore? :(

I found the problem guys! Open tailgate fully! Manualy press latch with screwdriver so it will lock and buzz while opened. Now pull handle physically from tailgate inside near the window (SOS open from inside) Now it will fully close without any problems :) my guess it was stuck in open/closed position thats why close only half. Hope it will help for others!!!
      P. S now no buzz when its opened and pressed by screwdriver and all works!

Hello, good video, I have a very similar problem, when you show how it opens but doesn't, I was so happy, but when I went to check the resistors they are both measuring the same (about 5k ohms), so sad it doesn't seem to be that. One thing I notice is that the chime beeps only twice when opening (at the beginning of opening), then when I press the close button on the remote no beep at all, but I can hear the latch mechanism doing something, door tailgate doesn't budge.
I unplugged both connectors and it does the same, any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

probably not. your issue is probably the hatch lock mechanism. common issue. tons of youtubes about it. or its the actual opening handle on the hatch stuck in open position. common issue as well
