Just went online looking for diy inspos since I kinda had the urge to make goth stuff again like every october it seems, and I happily found your channel! You're literally so inspiring for younger goths like I am. It's hard to find authentic goth channels/people online nowadays since everyone seems to be more hopping onto the E-girl Trend (which isn't a bad thing per se) than actually being interested in true Goth Culture. Loving the top hat and can't wait til you've "Janed" it up. It definitely needs purple ribbon on it the colours just compliment each other (the black deepens and the purple just pops) definitely needs bats, maybe a bit of lace down the back with black and purple ribbon. As you're making it interchangeable, a nice deep red/blood red band would look gorgeous with a beautiful red stone/jewel at the front (you could use a brooch) and red ribbons coming off the back. You could do another version with black cats on, maybe with an emerald green band and the cat have emerald eyes. Beetlejuice inspired one with bugs all over it. One with a little Crow/Raven on. A witchy one, you could have a wand bunched together with feathers and flowers, maybe with some crystals or runes, the possibilities are endless 😊 Thank you for sharing your jewellery and fastener making with us. You're amazing.💜 My idea for the hat would be a lot of black or purple glitter, or some very old newspaper snippets or silver old letters or letterings around the cylinder...or an old spooky clock or coffin. The customizable hat bands are a great idea. If you want to try to cover some of the bare spots on the hat, you might be able to use some flocking on it just to give it a bit of texture. Great find!

Oh wow that top hat! 🤩🖤 I love the Lacey trains on the back of top hats. I think a bat broach on the front with flowers at the side with other bat charms could look really sweet. Maybe snakes wrapped round the hat as a band could look different with maybe a snake hanging down the back. Or a combination of snakes & scorpions perhaps 🤔 with maybe feathers. Or maybe voodoo style with little skulls and feathers would look cool. Just some thoughts

We actually have a shop in our town, but it's small. And this year they didn't have so much Halloween stuff either. I couldn't find anything fun there at all. Your things were surely pretty. Love all of them even if the last one was my favorite. Loved how you colored the roses too. And I have a similar top hat at display together with a little more modern gothic one. Maybe put laces with spiders and a bigger Raven on yours? Stay safe and weird beautiful xxx 💜💜💜💜
I luv the top hat! Though I would have the heart to wear it. I’d display it for sure. Maybe make a mack cover for it. That way you can keep it original and decorate it at the same time with different materials. 🤗

I actually have spiders that came on some flowers I got for Halloween in 2019 that I put in a box for an ex friend, and now I don’t know what to do with them 🙂. I’m thinking of donating them to our local thrift store which gives all their proceeds to victims of violence. Have a wonderful spooky day 💜🦇

@@purplejanew - I’m in for celebrating Halloween all of October & ½ of November, but not a whole month of celebrating our wedding anniversary (Halloween/Samhain), ack🤣! We finally got to celebrate our anniversary last night by going to the “Bowie 75” exhibition & had a lovely supper at a restaurant down the block from my old shop (now a barber/hair salon, thank goodness they left the ancient tiled floors that are so beautiful, I want to move so bad😕). If you’re planning to head to the exhibition in London, meh, there’s some interactive things to do (I’ll send a silly pic) but essentially it’s a glorified pop up shop, loads to buy some is ltd ed), not cheap-got goodies tho😉). Might go back as the younguns kept talking to the crazy old 🦇 covered in 🦇s & I didn’t get to do all the interactive stuff before they closed. Please do use my ideas, I know you’ll put the “Jane” touch on it! Btw, most cheap top hats are made from cheap synthetic felt, not felted wool- they’re more pricey. Be careful w/ vtg, prior to the mid 19th century top hats were made of beaver or rabbit fur, silk becoming more popular later. J. XXX 😘🧡

It’s on until what would’ve been his 75th birthday, 8 Jan so if you intend to go into London anytime within this time period, it’s a quick stop to do the interactive stuff, ignore merch! You’re very kind, sometimes my fashion history studies (I’m autodidactic, can’t learn in schools) comes in handy😉! One idea, I thought instead of playing cards why don't you stick a couple of tarot cards in the band of the top hat... after which I realised the mad hatter doesn't even have playing cards in his hat, he has a price ticket, so I dunno where that idea even came from lol, but anyway tarot cards! :D
Lovely ideas wish I could wear something like this but sadly I have nickel allergy. So I have to put everything in cording so the metal is against my clothing and not my skin.

Not incredibly creative but I think at the bottom base of the hat a layer of black cotton lace would be nice, just for starters
