    I have no problem wearing antique or vintage jewelry with flaws….I think it shows respect for the age of the piece. I’m in my 70’s and my flaws reflect a life well lived.

      Yes Pat, agreed. Many of these pieces have been worn and loved -- and I like that about them too! Thanks for watching. Cheers.

    I loved the momento mori ring. To me it’s not really macabre, but rather a way to remind ourselves that life is short, don’t waste a moment. Also loved the pink glass necklace at the end. Great video, thanks for sharing!

    I have only ever once in all my ramblings, come across a memento mori ring in the wild, (non antique store setting) and I still kick myself for having sold it on. What a beautiful and rare to find example you have. The Solje wedding brooch is lovely as well. I have a few but none with the crown. Lots of interesting lore around these pretty, Scandinavian pieces. Thanks for sharing this fabulous collection.

    I would definitely get that blue glass bracelet. Love brooches! If I had to guess, I think the peacock glass item was made to hold a cloak or shawl together. To me, there is a very obvious button hold, and a place to loop the other, plus it really resembles a Peruvian Cloak pin, (of which there would be 2 ) if you straightened out the bottom part. I think the scrimshaw is a tooth maybe of a Sperm whale? It looks a lot like an elk tooth pendant I have from the Elks Lodge. Maybe the Myrtle ring was once connected, and later cut between the Myr and Tle? Love the glass pieces.

    I love all the glass. I would have bought the bracelet with the damaged glass. $3!!! Yah you betcha!! Wear it anyway. I really love the circle with blue heart stones. And the killer multi color necklace. The yellow bracelet too. I have a chain with the exact embossed circles as a closure. Don’t know anything about it but it’s beautiful.
    Jewelry my therapy too.

    For the hair pin-we used to put a bend in the end of a bobby pin to make it stay better. I think thats why there is a hook on your bohemian piece.

    • @TheFunkyPickleThrifter

    I really enjoyed this journey into your collection. Hard to choose a favorite! But the gold tone filigree bracelet with blue marquis cut glass stones stands out to me, somehow. I mean the one you almost didn't buy due to one of the stones was a little cracked. So glad you bought went ahead and bought it. Also the necklace at the end with blue stones. Lovely, thanks!

    That peacock glass item reminds me of an item that Laura Caldwell had in one of her recent videos. If so, it had a twin at one time. She found the exact match of the one she bought was located in a museum due to its age and rarity.

    Isn’t the hand holding a bunch of Myrtle? A bunch of Myrtle signifies ‘romance’ when seen on old jewellery.

    • @TheFunkyPickleThrifter
      @TheFunkyPickleThrifter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tammy! I would not use vinegar on this necklace because as a liquid is would be hard to control and I must keep it away from those gold painted beads. The paint will for sure come off. Ketchup is wonderful to use because it will stay where you put it. And as you already know, there is vinegar in ketchup! I do have a video showing how I clean my jewelry.
