  • “Acura’s original tagline was ‘Precision Crafted Performance,’” says Tyson Hugie, “and it really shows in these first-gen NSXs. This car is thirty years old but it doesn’t have creaks or rattles. Everything is tight, even at 117,000 miles.” This NSX is just one of 22 Acuras Tyson has owned through the years. “My friends and family agree that I have an obsession here,” says Hugie, with a smile, “and I guess I don’t doubt that. I never set out to be a collector; it just started with one car and progressed from there.” Welcome to Tyson Hugie’s world, one of precision crafted priorities.

    Tyson is truly a rarity in the car enthusiast community. He has the essential qualities and values of a proper car enthusiast. Restoring and preserving a car in stock form with regular well documented maintenance is what makes the nostalgia of his Acura car collection so emotional. These should be the basic attribute for any aspiring car enthusiast. Its a simple discipline that Tyson has employed successfully over a two decade journey with his collection.

Looked behind me and yep Atlanta's finest was behind me. Followed me a couple miles and then pulled beside and gave me a thumbs up, car guy. Fourth owner, have the cell phone that came with the car. It’s nice to see an enthusiast who enjoys driving his cars esp the NSX, it’s a shame that this simple formula wasn’t used for the current NSX which ends production next year. Naturally aspirated rwd cars are my favorite.

    • @boostedmaniac
      @boostedmaniac 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NSX is getting axed again? Doesn’t seem that old. I was always kind of wondering that myself. I like the original much more than the newer one. But come 15 years from now the 2nd gen will go up in value because of the scarcity of it. It’s not a bad car, but I think it’s a little overpriced for what Honda/Acura fans are looking for. We were expecting a high revving fun to drive car like the original, not so much an expensive super high tech hybrid. In its price range, it has a lot of tough competition.

    I recently reactivated a dormant twitter account I have had since 2011. I searched Tyson's name to see if he's on twitter and this video popped up on Hagerty's page. So pleasantly surprised to see this. There is no better Ambassador for the Acura brand. Never met Tyson in person but communicated with him by phone when helping a friend of his secure a collector Acura. Just a great pleasant guy. Been following since I found him on youtube when I had a 2001 CL Type S about 6-7 years ago. He deserves much success.

The Supra engine is brutal but is heavier than nsx, next to Honda Nsx ,stock vs stock theres not much differences except in straight line . In circuit Nsx is superior.

    Gangster man. I appreciate the passion. That’s what it’s all about. It’s not about domestic vs import or drag racing vs circuit racing etc anymore. Especially when epa is actively trying to lawfare tuning shops. It’s about the drive. The experience that the car gives us and those who appreciate them for more than just transportation. We have to come together. Or else we will all end up in the exact same car. One choice and probably gov issued. I started out with a second Gen fc rx7 na gxl model. 344k miles. Rust issues. I now am into this fox mustang I have. Had a turbo integra that made a touch over 500 wheel. We have to come together and be proud of what we love and educated on the issues. Especially fuels and battery construction. Anyways. Thanks and never give up. Imagine being a kid not sitting in the back seat naming all of the different car makes and models that passed you down the road. Imagine it being one super quiet bland terrible car. Even if it has a lot of torque.

    It's a Honda from the McLaren F1 days, Gordon Murray owns one, Senna helped tune it; what else do you need to know?

      It was one of the main inspirations for Murrays McLaren F1 plans. He owned one a good while before the F1 was created. His view:
      "Of course as you know, the engine has only six cylinders; however, the NSX’s very rigid chassis is excellent and would easily be capable of handling more power. Although it’s true I had thought it would have been better to put a larger engine, the moment I drove the „little“ NSX, all the benchmark cars - Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini - I had been using as references in the development of my car vanished from my mind. Of course the car we would create, the McLaren F1, needed to be faster than the NSX, but the NSX's ride quality and handling would become our new design target.”

      @@Fastvoice Thanks! I hadn't seen that quote, much appreciated. Oh for a T 50. Just realized we were talking about different McLaren F1s; I meant the Honda-powered Formula One cars.
