Calm down. 120hp per liter is world class. Only a handful of NA motors make more than that. Once you cross the 100 per liter mark you're making a high performance motor, reliability will come from the strength of the internals. The more power the less reliable, only so much you can do there but make it strong and plenty of cooling.
Wonderful stuff by Henry. What the amazing thing is that the dude that made electric cars mind blowing in terms of speed in the hypercar market has made a hybrid that is the hybrid of all hybrids and understands that NA engines are exciting and part of the experience. Well played Sir.
So let me get this straight, it's OK to have a Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ferrari & even a Corvette to have a hybrid setup. Even though the Acura NSX started the new trend & was treated like crap while all others mentioned above has a very similar if not exact same setup. Not hating but give the respect it deserves.
The crankshaft itself is puzzling me : I remember reading about BMW development team when they released the E92 M3. They pretended they had to ditch the L6 in favor of a small V8 to have a shorter crankshaft which could handle more rpms than the L6, because of harmonic resonance stuff (clear to my mind but absolutely unable to elaborate in english). This thing up there is TWICE longer than a 4 liter V8 and can rev up to whatever rpm you like. Puzzling, to say the least
@3:05 Oops, the fuel gauge is a very fine instrument measuring the tourbillon of fuel disappearing up in smoke at a rate only matched by a Russian oil refinery next to the Azov Sea.
Porsche itself is already participating, the Frenchies are represented in Alpine, the Tourbillion seems to indicate that they don't have any interest in going for performance/racing and Rimac has little to no interest because electric cars and endurance racing just don't work yet. Not gonna happen, I think.
Seeing the little exposed gears work in tandem with the speed indicators (i.e. tourbillon second/minute 'hands') is inspiring. 10/10 design. Truly fabulous.
WHAT a work of art is this Tourbillon, I have never really been that into Bugattis in the past other than really respecting them for their numbers and their history with VW group, but I think I seriously love this Tourbillon. IT'S SO ELEGANT and so Aggressive, and so cool, I just love this. I feel like electricity is giving big engined cars a Renaissance. Naturally Aspirated Engines with multiple cilinders and AMAZING sounds thanks to the aid of electricity to help with their carbon emissions, BRILLIANT.
Tourbillon? What? Did they run out of French racing drivers to name their cars after? I wouldn't call it ugly unlike some but it doesn't seem to be a big stylistic departure over the Chiron in the same way the Chiron was to the Veyron. The industrial designer in me appreciates the subtle changes they made over the outgoing car. Much of ID is actually like that. The result is they've successfully liposuctioned a lot of the visual fat of the Chiron (and Veyron). It now looks properly svelte and sleek. I like-y.
Did you see Jason Fenske's video on this? Check out engineering explained for a full geek out on the engine. He even goes in to whether it works like a pair of V8s or a pair of straight 8s.

@@South4153 I agree that the Chiron was a better looking car, and the hybrid technology is going to put this thing in the same boat as the McLaren P1 in a few years. I am very excited about that v16 engine, though.
The engineers lied to him as well, 82mm throttle bodies are babies but let’s not let facts get in the way of a good sales pitch
@@b_for_brettsales pitch? They’re all sold 😅
His friends are very mean! :D
24 minutes just passed. Great content
I assume the 1000 hp number is for reliability not max attainable
exactly, I think it could pretty much push 1800 max....
Yeah, the valkyrie engine makes similar power at similar RPM while being smaller, the bugatti engine could be pushed to 1200 hp+
It'll also be to leave room for future versions of the car to offer more power.
@@jimboslice500and they can make more money.
Wow. Just wow! The first bugatii that is actually beautiful and worthy of the name ...
Daaaamn, the w124 monowiper 🔥🔥🔥
Sheeeeesh

The crankshaft itself is puzzling me : I remember reading about BMW development team when they released the E92 M3. They pretended they had to ditch the L6 in favor of a small V8 to have a shorter crankshaft which could handle more rpms than the L6, because of harmonic resonance stuff (clear to my mind but absolutely unable to elaborate in english). This thing up there is TWICE longer than a 4 liter V8 and can rev up to whatever rpm you like. Puzzling, to say the least
Oh my.
This is outstanding.
*4L GMA T.50. The engine displaces 3994cc. It's a 4 liter.
@3:05 Oops, the fuel gauge is a very fine instrument measuring the tourbillon of fuel disappearing up in smoke at a rate only matched by a Russian oil refinery next to the Azov Sea.
This might be the first Bugatti that is pleasing to my eyes
That's the great thing about hybrids, keeping the N/A engine alive. That sounds like 2 V8's having a go at each other!
No it sounds like an N/A civic with an intake lol, if you look up a video to compare it’s the exact same
@@hein228 that might depend on your earphones?
What a beautiful segway into a comparison between watches and cars , brilliant stuff.
Absolutely brilliant video. Again.
Perfect video
Let the designer talk and just steer him gently in the direction you want the conversation to go.
Well done Henry.
Come on Bugatti, get your act together and build a Hyper Car for Le Mans 🏁 🏁
Porsche itself is already participating, the Frenchies are represented in Alpine, the Tourbillion seems to indicate that they don't have any interest in going for performance/racing and Rimac has little to no interest because electric cars and endurance racing just don't work yet.
Not gonna happen, I think.
They did its called the Bolide.
@@Make-Asylums-Great-Again engine is too heavy it’ll drink fuel and eat tires

Seeing the little exposed gears work in tandem with the speed indicators (i.e. tourbillon second/minute 'hands') is inspiring. 10/10 design. Truly fabulous.
0-100km/hr in under 2secs is crazy
Not crazy for million dollar car lol. All hypercar should be that fast
@@Manusia.satu1 yes it's a hypercar, but that doesn't take away the fact that this speed is crazy.
@@Manusia.satu1 U don t understand cars🤣. 2 seconds is insane
@Hypocrisy.Allergic You pay millions of course you want super fast car. Nothing crazy about that. All hypercar car should be under 2 seconds
@Hypocrisy.Allergic U don't understand about value. If this car not under 2 second, better just buy supercar. Cheaper
YES NA!!! No turbos!!!
@romanthomas2.0 Have you even driven any modern performance hybrids?
@romanthomas2.0are you a kid, what the problem of having electric inside a combustion engine
Henry was giggling so much when talking with Bugatti's head of design, it's actually adorable
The rear looks like a McLaren!
was searching in comments do someone noticed 😄 really wtf ? this is so McLaren
For me its a mix of lvn and mistral
to be fair, in a carwow video, Mate Rimac himself admitted the rear looks like a P1 😂
It looks like bugatti noire voiture (only one made) more than p1
Henry is the best !
Was watching live and saw this pop up
Same 😂 Matteo was taking to long to get to the facts and he seems nervous too.
It sucked that it took 30mins longer for the reveal
Excellent vid. The best of Henry and Bugatti combined
Tourbillon?
I like-y.
It is a new era after the retirement of W16 engine in favour of V16 so name change. Notice now the common element is the name ending with "on".
I'd love to hear this engine in real life at least once before I die... 😅
What a magnificent video, as always...can't go wrong with Henry!
W BUGATTI 🇫🇷 The Bugatti Tourbillon 🏎️💨🐐🇫🇷🔥
Looove the comparison between watches and cars
Sounds exactly like two V8s running at the same time.
Did you see Jason Fenske's video on this? Check out engineering explained for a full geek out on the engine. He even goes in to whether it works like a pair of V8s or a pair of straight 8s.
At the same time. Always wanted to do that
its most likely two Audi V8's joined at the crankshaft
@@redriver15262 TBH, I have a crazy hypothesis that it's a bespoke engine made by Cosworth, but IDK where I got that from.
@@redriver15262 Its not an existing VW design. It is bespoke, made by Cosworth.
The shot at 21:30 with the doors opening and the music dropping is so unbelievably cool. Never have I felt the burning desire for $4 million so badly. Great tie in with the name and comparisons to the watch industry, great video!
I expected it to be different looking from the Chiron
Same here.
Bugattis are beginning to feel like the 911, every model is an evolution rather than a fresh departure.
looks like a squashed chiron with a unreasonably long nose to me
@@Voraciously_Learning It. Is. You cannot justify the differences through video. It's shorter and has different body lines not to mention the completely redesigned interior and doors.... . . .. . .. . .. ......
@@Voraciously_Learning they should have changed the front. We had a jump from pe Veyron to the Chiron. The Bolide also looks quite different. This new wngine deserved a new front at least
I really like it. Like a Chiron that got divorced, lawyered up and hit the gym and is living its best life.
