  • Back in 2017 The Honda Civic Type R took the automotive world by storm with its sharp handling and agressive styling. With a 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder from factory the Civic Type R was all the rage for the JDM and Honda community. Even though the car was front wheel drive it didn't deter it from being an amazing racing platform. However that was back in 2017... in 2022 the automotive space is much different. With competitors on the horizon is the 2023 Honda Civic Type R better enough than its rivals? For this review - let's go for a drive and find out!

In my opinion the new 2023 Honda Civic type R is not worth the money Compared to the 2022 Honda Civic type R Here are my reasons.
    #1Looks
the car does not look like an Aggressive civic Type R Instead it looks more like a Sporty Honda Accord And looks a little too big for me, I rather have the aggressive look from the 2022 model, When Honda said that this 2023 can be a daily driver and a grocery getter they weren't kidding.
    #2 weight
It's not lighter Compared to the 2022 civic type R And this is coming from a company that's known for making lightweight cars especially the type R!! 2023 Coming in at a curb weight 3,188 And the 2022 coming in at 3,160 Which will Be a major advantage for the 2022 model Which I'll talk in detail Why it will be an advantage Later. Anyway moving forward.
    #3 Price
The new 2023 StartingWith a base price $ 42,895 and price that can go up to $44,385 They even charge extra for the championship white paint $395 !!! And Who knows what the Mark up price will be at the dealer? I don't know
50,000 + ? While the 2022 starting price was $39,000 Not that cheap either, but I believe more Bang for the Buck Between the 2 cars no after market wing here.
    #3 Power
Honda says that this Civic type R is the most powerful The 2022 Honda Civic type R Has 306 HP Torque 295 While the 2023 has 315HP 310 Torque 9HP difference? I don't see it for the money that they're charging, But I guess it's all about the torque 295 For the 2022 versus 2023 310 torque Which both of them Slip On a dig And That's when everybody wishes it was AWD but whatever, it is what it is.
    #4 Bonus round
Remember when I said that that weight was gonna make a big difference well believe it or not from a dig yes the new civic type R is faster Because of the 310 torque But not by much, but would you believe me if I told you that on a roll race the 2022 is the faster civic type R!! Don't believe me guys, I've seen it for myself on videos from Europe comparing the 2 And comparing the Corolla GR let me tell you nothing pretty In a way back to what I was saying People that have the 2022 model go ahead and challenge that new 2023 on a roll and see what happens you will Be pleasantly surprised that every single time You race you're going to win and Not only that, you will pull On them to boot, Leaving the 2023 civic type R owner scratching his head wondering why I can't beat the older civic type R how can this be? I just paid almost $46,000 If not more Who are we kidding definitely more , And since everybody that has a civic Type R doesn't really like to race From digs nowadays It's pretty much in the bag for the 2022 owner Because they're going to win every time, Hell in the end of the quarter mile you'll start pulling on them On the High gears only For them too beat you by a car or half a car At the end of the quarter mile Sweating bricks because they know you were coming . So in my opinion the older 2022 civic type R is the better of the 2, and is holding its price very well And those are the reasons why I think the new one is not worth the money Just more gizmo's bigger rims and fixing things that should have been fixed in the 1st place, And yes that includes the after market wing And as for the car being too high another reason why it shouldn't have to make you buy coilovers when you're paying almost $46,000 for a car that Comes with one of the best handling Cars in the market I would go as far as to say it should have came with coilover's And a kick butt stance for the price that they're charging , So In my opinion Gundam civic for the win all day !!!🏆 ✌️
And for the guys that just have to have the newest thing go buy the Corolla gr way better than the civic type R In every way Take it from a Evo owner There's nothing like AWD turbo And yes that includes in the gravel For obvious reasons.

I love the new look of the Type R. It looks like a car again, not a Hotwheels toy! 🥳
My favorite is still the 8th gen design, that was when I fell in love with the Civic. 9th gen was also cool, especially the interior was a big upgrade, 10th gen was just way over the top though.
Glad to see they've once again struck just the right balance between normal sedan and track car design for what it is and how it (probably) performs!
And I think the spoiler does fit it quite well. I like how its shape follows the boot line and I don't mind that it looks "aftermarket"/"like an afterthought" at all. What do you expect, it's an economy sedan with track car upgrades and I commend them for not being afraid to show that. It makes so much more sense than the last model, where they seemingly designed the Type R first and then stripped the most aggressive design elements away for the base model. The result of that philosophy was one normal commuter car cosplaying as road racer and a Type R that felt awkward and desperate to look faster than it is.

Nice to see my feeds popping up with all white new TypeR´s because embargos are for everybody and everybody went for the same press- event where Honda couldn get other colors :)
I liked Superfastmatt´s review the most, hes a truly professional :)
