"So as you can see, they are much too big for the board...so I decided to make my own chess pieces.." said no one else, ever.
    Amazing. 👍👍

The thing I love most about your videos is that you use stuff from poundworld and hobbycraft which makes you seem more real a lot of woodworking youtubers use expensive stuff which doesn't make it as relatable!

I've seen a lot of comments like this lately. Bums me out that people are judging negatively because a woodworker uses tools that are more expensive than they personally think a person should spend on woodworking. :(

Pete Brown I don't judge because someone uses expensive items it just is more relatable and seems possible for my to achieve the same products as them if they use affordable tools and materials

When you mention Poundworld and Hobbycraft I know you could be in the queue next to me. It brings your videos to life rather than mentioning Festool or Veritas which are way out of the price range of most hobby Woodworkers. Great video as always.

Love the simple style of the pieces, very effective. Your comparison of knights to a moomin made me laugh out loud and feel old at the same time. I remember the Moomins first time round :-) Waiting in anticipation for part three.

As a life long woodworker who operated woodworking machine in the 1970 and 80 back cutting on a bandsaw is a perfectly acceptable practice as long as you are a skilled operator.

Excellent, real nice work ! i am guessing the groove in the back of the chess pieces are so they can be held in place in their new box ?!

@Rag 'n' Bone Brown , how do you go about identifying the things you find? Did you just take the table home and then look it up, or could you tell it was beech as soon as you saw it? I salvage a lot of wood from skips and the like, but have no clue what a lot of it is, did you do a course of some kind, or just pick it up over time?

When I have a lot of small pieces to finish, I toss them into a ziploc bag and pour in my finish. A few minutes of shaking gets everything covered. Then let them dry.
