    Outstanding job! I'm in the process of making detailed chess pieces from a book my daughter and son-in-law ordered from Amazon from their home in London. Still practicing on the pieces with my scrollsaw but haven't got to the board yet. I never heard of Iroko wood before, but never heard of Sapele either but bought a piece this week! Beautiful! Keep up the great work!

    I enjoy your videos very much! The way you describe the steps and techniques is easy to follow along with. The tool/ working noises are especially pleasant. Love the sped-up parts, too.
    And Dylan(?) it's fun seeing him appear here and there. He seems to enjoy checking out what his human is up to.
    Please keep up the great project videos and the nice editing!

    at 3:50, there's a better way to do that. If you clamp adjacent pieces in the vise at the same time, outside faces out, and inside faces in, your hand-plane will create a perfect glue-up line. The error in the angle in one piece will be balanced by the opposite error on the other.

    A tip for the annoying stickers on the wood... cover the sticker in a little puddle of water, leave it for a few minutes and the sticker should become soggy then you can peel it right off! This may not work for every type of sticker but it has always worked for me :)

    Just a tip on removing lables from shop bought wood. If you heat them uup with a heat gun it softens the adheisive and they scrape off easily. I normally use a hair drier which is not as hot and so will not scorch the wood.

    I’m new to woodworking. I want to make a chessboard for an anniversary gift. I’ve seen multiple versions and all of them glue the board to mdf or plywood. Why is that?

    • @RagnBoneBrown
      @RagnBoneBrown  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because solid wood warps twists and bends and plywood or MDF doesn't

    • @RagnBoneBrown

      Also it wouldn't be particularly strong without the re enforcement and extra glue surface
