That pipe organ is majestic, powerful, and inspiring, the camera recording it, and the head phones I'm wearing can't create or comprehend the sounds made from the beauty of an instrument! ALL HAIL THE GLORIOUS KING OF ALL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, THE PIPE ORGAN!!!!
The last several organists at St Supice must be masochists not to have at least had the swell control updated. It wouldn't alter the sound of the instrument but would remove one real headache in playing the magnificent old thing. There are other ergonomic improvements that could be made without altering the sound or touch but purists will be purists, even if they're cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Thank you so much for posting these! It's wonderful to hear the master describe this great instrument.

Really interesting.
wish i were there! this no recording could ever replace the actual experience...
I think that all of them are improvisations.
This organ has a very aesthetic.
what piece does he play at 0:28
Is there a piece on youtube where mr Roth plays Grand Choeur Dialogué completely?
What is the name of the song that he starts playing at 1:15? I like it.
Since it is so old, it is very confusing. Widor played on that console.
What is that first song he is playing?
grand choeur dialoge by gigout
Is that Marie Claire Alain sitting to Roth's left?
No, she is not

It's an unique instrument, and that's why nothing's altered. There are plenty of organs with 'all mod cons' if that's what you want...
very time consuming to not have pistons.
It pre-dates them!
