Let's talk about common trouble codes! These are the most common OBD codes that you may find if your check engine light comes on. When you talked about the catalytic converter smell it help me. I have been smelling something weird for a few days. Since I add new exhaust to my car but that wasn't one parts I've replace yet. Thanks for the tip.

Hi, 2008 Honda Pilot. I received an a/t temp light a few days ago. No other dash lights going off. Scan tool says 0 dtc. What could this mean? Any info helps, thanks.

I keep getting the catalyst codes for bank 1 and bank 2 on my 03 chevy silverado 1500 with the 5.3L but there is a problem. The codes are intermittent. Meaning the engine light goes away after a little time and the codes only seem to show up after some harder driving/acceleration. I'm not a mechanic, I do some little things, but I was under the impression that catalyst issues don't just go away like this. I'm not getting o2 sensor codes but to me since this is intermittent that maybe my downstream o2 sensors are not reading correctly. What do you think? I'm curious if you had any ideas on this because I haven't really been able to find a whole lot of info. The exhaust smells but it's not a lot. My engine does have over 200k on it.
Maybe a short in the sensor wiring?

I sometimes get the P0420 code. I wonder if they means my catalyst converter is dying since the code goes away after continues driving. (And allowing the car to warm up before driving anywhere)
This may be an old comment. But, I ended up with that error code myself. When I took my car to my mechanic, instead of checking the catalytic converter, he told me that the code can come up if I end up with bad fuel in my fuel tank. He advised me to buy some fuel cleaner and fill up my tank with premium and that should solve the issue. I got the error code a few times last year coming up once every 2 or 3 months. It only popped up once this year this past summer. However, I opted to just clear the error code and see if it would even come back, of which it hasn't.
Now, inspections are coming up. But, I assume that they would test for persistent error codes as opposed to a random blip in the sensor.
How do I get rid of my stored codes in my computer DTC to pass my admission test
B1276, b2281, everything works normally as far I can't tell. What does this mean? Is it something urgent?

Code p0171 is a nightmare, I don’t know if I should spend $2000 on a 3500 car with 180,000 miles or spend hundreds of dollars on trying to figure it out myself

Best scanner would have to be “blue driver” I would highly recommend this scanner to u guys only costing $120 with the ability to delete codes and smog check. Chrisfix made a vid on this
