  • The coronavirus pandemic is forcing stores to make some serious changes, and Costco is no exception. A lot of people are understandably concerned about having enough of the necessities, but don’t think you can head to Costco and buy unlimited toilet paper, because they have put a limit on how much of it you can buy, as well as some other items. Additionally, there are rules about how many members can be in the store at once and how many people they can bring. Let’s take a look at the big change that Costco is making to its membership policy.

When the pandemic hit, he briefly advertised having 16 each of electrical power distribution set ups, keyboards, mice, and ventilators. He has been posting on our NextDoor PHOTOS 📸 of the aisles ransacked of 🧻 usually at Costco. When people reply “OMG, I can’t find any TP anywhere! Whatever shall I do?” He makes a big show of giving away a couple of rolls “at cost” and then makes another show of saying “I’ve given away all I have now”. Basically, he is creating a heightened state of hunger for the product he knows he has stockpiled and getting others to think he is a “benevolent provider”. My husband and I are costco card holders and seniors with compromised immune systems who live in rural Nova Scotia so have not gone in here since this virus all started. We do use their pharmacy though as their dispensing fee is a whole lot cheaper than the average drug store but that is not the only reason. If you have your doctor fax your prescriptions to them they will fill them, charge your credit card and mail them out to you within a day or two and there is no charge for this service. We have done this for a while now and it is great. The only thing they don’t mail out is insulin or narcotics so we get those at our local pharmacy and have a friend pick them up for us and deliver them to our mail box outside. When he leaves we go out and get them. This is a great service. ......and isn’t just for seniors.

    • @io5417
      @io5417 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. The main reason for no returns is because the stores will lose money. All the revenues generated from these sales will have to be negated and the stores will have excessive surplus. That's money just sitting at the warehouse not turning profits. Plus those take up the limited storage that could have been used for other items.
      Preventing possible contamination is an after thought and good marketing reason.

Since I have no idea who has coughed and sneezed on my bag of flour or my can of tomato soup, I have a spray bottle of bleachy disinfectant just inside the door. I grab it, spray the heck out of everything and then it comes in the house. Produce goes in the sink with water, soap and bleach and then gets well washed with clear water. It's the best I can do. I called the health unit and described what I do and asked if I should be doing something more. The response was 'I wish we could get others to do half of what you're doing. We'd all be safer.' Take care whoever you are and good luck protecting your family from this awful virus.

People still spit as well as cough/sneeze/breathe so it eventually falls to the ground. But they are now saying that it remains in air for 3 hours. And you are standing in a breezeway while waiting being covered with who knows what.
      So shoes off at door, groceries in a bin at the door, strip and shower, then deal with groceries. If you put a lid on, even frozen will be ok while you sluice off.

There a Costco store rep instructed myself and other customers to FORM A DOUBLE LINE ! What ????? After waiting outside with ample spacing between us we were now waiting side by side to get our paper towels , water and toilet paper with NO space between us ! What kind of training did these employees get from Costco management. ? I expect more from this great company that I’ve been loyal to for so many years.

    I own a casino in Montana, I had a Costco membership through my casino, but when I tried to get a Costco card for my personal use, I was declined the opportunity because I was single. I own my own home. Offered to pay the full membership, and still denied membership because I'm a single person. They don't want our business. So i will never shop at Costco again, don't care if they give the membership away, or how cheap their products maybe. They will never get another dollar from me. I Wasn't good enough for them then, they will never be good enough for me now. Denied the opportunity to shop there or spend my hard earned money because of my relationship status. I vowed to never shop there afain or encourage others to do so either.

    I liked the changes when I was at Costco yesterday. There were still a fair amount of people in Costco, but not as crowded as it could have been. There was a line of about 200 people outside waiting to get in. The checkout lines were still extremely long considering how few people were in the store. They also only had 1 person at the foodcourt making food, which was really odd.

Unfortunately since the coronavirus exploded Sam’s Club Plus is virtually useless since they have almost none of the products that will ship are shipping anymore. I understand there’s a crisis but to simply stop shipping items that normally ship for no real reason without offering up an extension to the service contract simply isn’t right! They should not allow returns on consumable items at all, especially if they want to keep expenses down and operate efficiently. It's the responsibility of the buyer to select what they need.

    There should be a way for cash registers to detect if you’ve purchased an in demand essential item once per week upon membership scanning at the cash register.. a pack of Costco toilet paper should last you atleast 3 weeks... if the system detects that you’ve already purchased an item this week, you won’t be able to buy it until the following week or so.. this way this gives Atleast everyone a chance..
