Owning an A5 2011, the regulator for the windows is a def check, my regulator went and window dropped down, had it replaced but had to take the car back to have the window recalibrated as the garage didn't calibrate the window for closing properly. So if you do replace the regulator for your window, always double check the window closes properly after it is replaced. Other than that, I've not had any other issues and it still drives like a dream.

My wife bought a beautiful 2 door A5 on a 2010 plate, three years ago. I love the stance, the ride height (or lack of) and handling. The cabin is snug, fits like a glove and the Bang & Olufsen stereo is awesome.
Had some issues though, first the clutch went, I swapped out the dual mass flywheel too, just to be thorough. Then my AC unit died, followed by my drivers window coming off the rail and the motor, or servo (I think) needed replacing, that was expensive.. Now I'm getting exhaust fumes leaking into the cabin, my brakes need replacing and the rear shocks... All said and done though, this car has done over a hundred thousand miles, my wife is just the second owner and I don't begrudge the small fortune it's costing to fix these problems. The reason.. This car will run for thousands of care free miles as long as we keep looking after it, most of the things that could go, have done and been replaced now, the original parts lasting far longer than you would expect. This is one of those rare cars you never want to give up and at ten years old, the sleek modern design makes most people mistake her for a new motor. This was a great video about an awesome car. Well done.

You must not have the 2.0T. My wife and I bought her a 2010 A5 Quattro with the 2.0T and we have had to replace most of the upper engine, sensors, coil packs, clean the carbon out of the engine, oil sensors bad. We replaced the entire intake, spark plugs, coil packs, and it is still misfiring due to a camshaft position sensor that decided to go bad after all the work we put into it. The 2.0T is a junk engine, great concept (speed and fuel economy), but ours has been a complete nightmare. My dad has worked on family members 2.0T Audi/VW and they all have the same common problems.
Now the turbo is under-boosting, my wife was excited at first, beautiful looking car and when it runs good, it's great. Now, less than two months later, one thing is going wrong after the other with it and she has been sad because she is convinced she bought a total POS! And it is not just this car, these are common problems with ALL of the VW/Audi/Skoda 2.0T engines.

My 2010 Sportback, 2.0 tfsi, had the piston part rebuilt in 2014. Engine is super reliable besides that. Other than that, nothing but a bad PCV valve and clutch soon to be replaced - for the first time in its 8 years though.

I have the 2.0 tfsi quattro special edition. My engine was replaced is 2013. Clutch went in 2016 (had Audi extended warranty thank god). Car still consumes oil, maybe a liter every 3k miles or so. Rear suspension springs were replaced 2017 due to rust (one had snapped). But as it stands the car is sweet and I've looked after it very well so don't see any reason I won't have it for many year to come. It's a solid car and a joy to drive.

WARNING read this before buying !
I do own this car for couple week now and here my feedback. Buy this car only to a proffessional dealer with a waranty this will avoid you expensive repears, right after buying it go to audi dealer ship and make a diagnostic to see if there is engine overconsuption of oil, in most case they admit that its a factory probleme and have to change it.
if the car behave unproperly check the gearbox before the waranty end and if Audi say the gearbox is dying you should immediatly call the warranty both these appen to me and this is how the problems will be fixed otherwise the law is with you in some country you can sue the dealership for hidded malfunction and get back your money.
Gearbox problems and overconsuption are the cancer of this car but if are lucky Audi will have to change the engine at least if they cant solve the problem by changing the pistons.
This problem does'nt occure on all the engine but can on the 2.0 tfsi thats a common problem of Wolkswagen engine of this period

My wife has a 2010 A5 Quattro with the 2.0T we have only owned for less than 2 months now. Car is constantly having problems, the more money we throw at it, the more it goes bad. It was leaking oil, fixed that with the timing chain cover gasket. Bad intake, changed that out. New coil packs, spark plugs, now it is misfiring and needs a camshaft position sensor. Had to clean all the carbon build up in the engine, which was bad. The more we do, the more else goes wrong with it. If you get one of these, go with the V6, because the 2.0T is a complete piece of junk that will end up nickel and diming you to death. We have done all the labor ourselves and still have put over $800 into it, and it needs more. Her Turbo is under-boosting too, so whatever merits the car has are overshadowed by the fact we bought a mechanical and electrical sensor nightmare. We plan on getting it to a working state and selling it.

got the 2013 a5 quattro 3.0 tdi v6 quattro with the dsg/stronic. do not buy the quattro dsg model if it has high milage, the DL501 gearbox will need repair costing £700+ due to melted printed circuit board. I have had this done. the gearbox still sometimes throws an error up when put into reverse so it didn't completely fix it. Also the 3.0 tdi engines sometimes have a failing rubber seal in the engine which causes a water leak, it is also a labour-ious repair. Buy this in a manual if possible to save you the headache. a full gearbox rebuild can set you back a few thousand pounds.

Adore my 3Litre Black Edition A5 Coupe from 2012 ... just wow! But it has its issues... the front wing mirrors are meant to tilt downwards automatically when placing into reverse gear - they only sometimes do this which is very annoying as it’s an intermittent fault! I’m wondering if it just needs some lubrication?! Also the worst part is the over-light steering, the wheel is constantly jigging around and requires a firm grip to correct this, which is not pleasant and feels like there’s no room for any error!

I have Audi A5 2014 never faced any issue, don't lsn to this kumar shankar, almost 10 years now and I all what I changed for 10 years (fuel pump and i guess because i was using 91 instead of 95, radiator thermostat because I got a recall on it, rare hatch lift-sock struts X3 times because when i wash the car the water goes in and they get rusty and damaged, consumables parts) spare & consumable parts not even expensive considering the durability and quality. almost same price as HONDA accord ( i had accord 2014 before).

I'm looking at a 2012 Premium Plus right now with 135k mi.... I haven't gone to see it yet, but II found one I like and I have to go look at it before I get my hopes up... the ad doesn't have the mileage on it and I would have to pull the CarFax to find out the maintenance history (to see if the timing and transmission was done)

@@SoundzAlive1 well firstly let me explain im no expert....but I can tell you the experience we had with this dpf filter problem......my dad brought an A5 and it was a beautiful car sweetheart went like hot shit off a shovel it did, we couldn't fault the car in any other way but then his EML kept coming on.... at first the car still run really well even with that light on but then it started going into limp mode..... we took it to every garage and audi dealer in the east of England I swear down we did but no one person could fix it, the diagnostics kept coning up with this dpf filter being blocked, something to do with these filters being notorious for not liking the shorter journeys and blocking up so we were told anyway, he had the throttle body changed twice and the left bank then right bank both renewed, he had just about everything new and original audi parts put on as we was told generic parts wasn't good enough and would cause the same problem so only new audi parts were used and still this light came on.... drove dad potty so he sold it to a guy who new the problems with it and said he would "tinker with it" 5 months on and he still hasn't fixed it either so that's the story sweetheart..... if the problem is fixable then me poor old dad would wish he knew how cos he bloody loved that car he did. One thing we was told though was that dad could have had the exhaust deleted??? It would bypass the cars on board computer or something and taken the EML light off the dash and stopped the limp mode but it would have fail an mot to do.... not sure how much of that was true as we didn't try it but worth looking into if your having the same trouble ok my lovely. Atleast the 2.0 TDI is supposed to be equipped with a timing belt, not a chain? Where did you get this info? And why do you recommend the 2.7/3.0 instead of 2.0?

Do not buy a pre 2012 2.0 TFSI unless it has had a rebuild with the later pistons. Ditto for the STronic (DL501) gearbox. In the early versions, the materiel in the printed circuitry melts and must be replaced at great expense. If you must buy a pre 2012 - get a really good warranty. Other than that (and the shit Nav system maps & lack of streaming Bluetooth) not a bad car🤔

      Ed Roy Hi,
So overall, would you recommend a post 2012 2.0 TFSi model of this car?
No major Gearbox, carbon build up issues?

2012+ models have fared better with oil consumption issues since Audi addressed it. There have been a number of pre-2012 2.0 motors that were fixed by Audi, but you'd have to have proof of that verified by the previous owner.
Important note about the 8 speed tiptronic transmissions on 2013-16 quattro models - you may read somewhere that Audi owner's literature says these are sealed with lifetime transmission fluid and do not require service. BS! ZF manufactures these transmissions for Audi and has recommended they be serviced between 50k-70k miles (that would be roughly 80k-110k km for you metric folks), so have it serviced. They're great transmissions but really need to be serviced. It's an expensive service due to the cost of the fluid, but still far cheaper than a new transmission.

I purchased a 2010 tfsi 3 years ago. It had the engine replaced due to the piston issues by Audi a year before I purchased it. The car now has 91k miles on the clock and drive a treat. I do have to keep an eye on the oil but otherwise it's a very solid car and I love it.
