It's not just the song, it's not just his personality - it's this damn incredible performance. The energy, the passion, the joy was all on the stage for us to adore - this man is a national treasure and deserved to win. So glad he's getting the recognition he deserved after years of cover songs.

@@25Dzone I think people were divided over the studio version but a lot of people enjoyed how he brought it to life on stage with his voice and personality during his rehearsals and the final especially with the guitar solo. His Jury Final was phenomenal.

Sam wrote this song himself years ago. It wasn't meant for eurovision , however when sifting through his many creative musical works he chose this for the night. Brilliant , what a voice and an extremely lovely man. A well deserved top of the voting list

I don't think any UK Eurovision fan could be more proud of Sam Ryder tonight, superb performance and what a fantastic ambassador he has been for the UK throughout. Humble, kind, honest and unique. Cruel to miss out on what I think we know should have been a rightful win, but...couldn't have asked for any more effort from the guy tonight. Hopefully the BBC have had a wake up call this year on what actually wins Eurovision contests and we start to see some actual thought and effort put into it from now on, as they seemed to this year...carried really by a fantastic singer.
We are definitely proud of Sam! His efforts definitely will not go unnoticed. I think credit should also extend to Tap Music for convincing Sam to do it. I feel this BBC x Record Label partnership should continue as I think this is a way forward in the selection (as we Brits cannot be trusted with our votes lol). I totally agree as well that BBC should put more effort than before now to sustain this momentum.

this is fine example that Europe hasn't been "biased against UK" like some people have claimed, you just have been sending bad/generic songs. same goes for Spain this year. last year Italy and France from big 5 got to see that all it takes is to send good song. and i am glad Brits see this also as a positive thing. Guy had nice voice, song was fine, but not something you'd remember few minutes later because there's dozens of similar songs and nothing strikes out. This will do plenty good for ESC (as well as Spain doing well too) and for UK of course. This and Moldova will def stay on my playlists. Both songs just make me so happy.

Heaven forbid that the European people want to send their love and support to the Ukraine and share a bit of hope during such a dark time. I am from Ukraine, I would like to thank everybody who voted for my country, this win means a lot for us. But I personally feel that in a different circumstances Sam should have won. For me this song was the best and deserved to win, Sam’s voice and energy is everything, it melted my heart and I listed to it on repeat . I hope that he will come back next year and bring Eurovision to UK 🇬🇧.

It still just feels so surreal that this was our UK act for 2022. I followed it entirely the whole 2022 season, watched it live, watched the rehearsals.... it feels like a surreal figment that this actually happened.
Ok so, I am Italian and I was at the park of Turin where the even was streamed live, along side with other 18k people. And I can tell you, this song just killed it. Bloody hell, it was powerful. It should have won.
What made me so emotional about this performance is how the entire audience was singing along with him during the chorus... it's so beautiful, the United Kingdom never has this type of success in Eurovision. Thank you Sam Ryder, you're a national hero ❤️💙🤍

They would have sent more of those but don’t always have them to represent a flag on a bigger level. Eurovision is a mess which exists in its own universe and people either learn how to enjoy its senseless glory or not.

Sam Ryder is one of those special singers that does what he wants with his voice. In this live performance he didn't stick to the "studio version" and he surprised us with some good variations. Nice electric guitar in the end by the way. Finished 2nd overall with 466 points, 283 of witch from the juries.
l just learnt a line dance choreographed by Debbie Rushton in honour of Sam Ryder. lt's a beautiful dance with the steps perfectly in sync with the song and l was going through the steps in my mind while savouring Sam performing the song joyously with his long locks giving him the golden boy image...plus shades of Freddie Mercury and Brian May rolled into one! Amazing talent that does the UK proud, fresh from his Eurovision success!

Seeing Brits tweet about this entry once the contest was over with "so, we've agreed that we're sending Sam every year, right?" was probably the cutest reaction to Eurovision 2022 that I've seen.
Yeah, sadly they had to get rid of a verse and go from the Intro to the Chorus as they have a 3 minute limit. If you listen to the song on Spotify, you will hear the full version :). He technically won as the professionals voted for him but as with any public vote in place they go for the pity vote. I agree Ukraine was good but not a winner.

When I heard this song for the first time I thought: "Ok, pretty good, but nothing special". Now I love this song so much that I listen to it all time.
He didn't go full out with this song, but he is probably the best voice to have ever graced the Eurovision stage. Check out Tiny Riot and his Tik Tok covers. I think he should have slayed it for all eternity with a song like those instead.
I like the song as first, but Sam does not sing the same in studio than in live. He song way better live! I love both versions but this is just glorious. The notes, the guitar solo.

One of the best entires to the contest this year, and THE BEST entry for the UK in YEARS. Absolutely amazing; the vocals, the energy, even the staging - WHEN HE PLAYS THAT GUITAR. Coming 2nd to Ukraine in 2022 really is an achievement, but Sam has also made the UK a serious competition again. An amazing man.
I don’t like to listen to songs before the finale, bc I never want to be given any biases before the show. I just want to hear the music of the contest. So based on the recent UK entries, I had very low expectations for our entry this year, expecting another low placement at best. So imagine my shock when it turns out that this song is actually AMAZING and we go all the way to 2nd place. Imagine the UK sending an artist that sounds like he could stand on the UK music scene. We genuinely have some amazing artists and they finally send one to ESC. And look what happens as a result.

Please don't feel anything other than the love and fellowship those votes represented. No one sane feels anything but horror and anger at the suffering being inflicted on the people of Ukraine. Last year when I first heard this song my cousin was fighting for her life after an accident. Doctors said she wasn't going to make it and ask for her organs to be donated. I wanted to pray for help but didn't know how as I don't have any religion. Just listened to this song over and over as it made me feel I was connecting with something elevate. We don't know what happened but soon she started to get better and after a few days she woke up and she is still with us...
When I heared this song the first time it gave me a warm feeling and - I do'nt know why - sort of hope, touched something inside. Maybe this also happend to you. Sam Ryder is a extremly positive person with high star quality and the composition is wonderful, this mix of Elton John, The Beatles, his own personality and good rock music.
Brilliant song not just for a eurovision entry but a brilliant song in it's own right. Sam was never going to win and in his heart probably knew it but he conducted himself with great humility and showed respect and support for other entrants. He deserves success.

I think UK citizens should have more say on who represents us at Eurovision. I mean previous years I either don't watch it at all or I watch all other countries except UK because I already know our entry us going to be rubbish, always makes me wonder who picked these artists? Well finally U.K. brought a strong entry with the whole necessary package. A great staging, a great performance and adding memorability with the electric Gutair quirk at the end was just magic. I think the double zero point we got in 2021 in the end was a favour for us because it brought the BBC to its senses

I LOVE it 😍 As soon as I heard it it's been played on repeat and was the one song that i could really relate to and he sang with tons of emotion. I voted for Germany, I think as it was after Ukraine and everyone wanted to see that, that's probably when people were not likely to p and get cuppa or something. Also last year we had a top 40 count down of the UK favourite Eurovision songs ever, voted for by us. @@25Dzone I think people were divided over the studio version but a lot of people enjoyed how he brought it to life on stage with his voice and personality during his rehearsals and the final especially with the guitar solo. His Jury Final was phenomenal.

I am from Ukraine, I would like to thank everybody who voted for my country, this win means a lot for us. But I personally feel that in a different circumstances Sam should have won. For me this song was the best and deserved to win, Sam’s voice and energy is everything, it melted my heart and I listed to it on repeat . I hope that he will come back next year and bring Eurovision to UK 🇬🇧.

Sam Ryder is one of those special singers that does what he wants with his voice. In this live performance he didn't stick to the "studio version" and he surprised us with some good variations. Nice electric guitar in the end by the way. Finished 2nd overall with 466 points, 283 of witch from the juries.
l just learnt a line dance choreographed by Debbie Rushton in honour of Sam Ryder. lt's a beautiful dance with the steps perfectly in sync with the song and l was going through the steps in my mind while savouring Sam performing the song joyously with his long locks giving him the golden boy image...plus shades of Freddie Mercury and Brian May rolled into one! Amazing talent that does the UK proud, fresh from his Eurovision success!

When I heard this song for the first time I thought: "Ok, pretty good, but nothing special". Now I love this song so much that I listen to it all time.

One of the best entires to the contest this year, and THE BEST entry for the UK in YEARS. Absolutely amazing; the vocals, the energy, even the staging - WHEN HE PLAYS THAT GUITAR. Coming 2nd to Ukraine in 2022 really is an achievement, but Sam has also made the UK a serious competition again. An amazing man.
I really hope he wants to represent the UK again next year or at least is involved with selecting the next artist, he really seems to get it.
I don’t like to listen to songs before the finale, bc I never want to be given any biases before the show. I just want to hear the music of the contest. So based on the recent UK entries, I had very low expectations for our entry this year, expecting another low placement at best. So imagine my shock when it turns out that this song is actually AMAZING and we go all the way to 2nd place.
Imagine the UK sending an artist that sounds like he could stand on the UK music scene. We genuinely have some amazing artists and they finally send one to ESC. And look what happens as a result.

Last year when I first heard this song my cousin was fighting for her life after an accident. Doctors said she wasn't going to make it and ask for her organs to be donated. I wanted to pray for help but didn't know how as I don't have any religion. Just listened to this song over and over as it made me feel I was connecting with something elevate. We don't know what happened but soon she started to get better and after a few days she woke up and she is still with us...

When I heared this song the first time it gave me a warm feeling and - I do'nt know why - sort of hope, touched something inside. Maybe this also happend to you. Sam Ryder is a extremly positive person with high star quality and the composition is wonderful, this mix of Elton John, The Beatles, his own personality and good rock music.
Brilliant song not just for a eurovision entry but a brilliant song in it's own right. Sam was never going to win and in his heart probably knew it but he conducted himself with great humility and showed respect and support for other entrants. He deserves success.
Many great siingers didn't partisipate in the Evrovision or didn't get a first places. He is so amazing, he has a wonderful career ahead of him.
also for example last year France's singer Barbara Pravi said she actually preferred being second because she doesn't get as much pressure but it's still a great spot, and it helps being advertised.

I think UK citizens should have more say on who represents us at Eurovision. I'm from the UK and thank you 😊 Sam did us proud. I wanted to say how gutted I was that Germany's song didn't get higher place. I LOVE it 😍 As soon as I heard it it's been played on repeat and was the one song that i could really relate to and he sang with tons of emotion. I voted for Germany, I think as it was after Ukraine and everyone wanted to see that, that's probably when people were not likely to p and get cuppa or something.
Also last year we had a top 40 count down of the UK favourite Eurovision songs ever, voted for by us. It was on radio on Saturday and no. 4 or 5 was the lovely German from a few years ago 'i was born from one heart,we were 2 kids and a Loving mum, a shelter from the storm' Probably not in right order 🌠
