As an employee of a NYC hospital I work in insurance and patient finance. When I call to asks about insurance most of the patients who happen to be migrants asks the same question first via an interpreter “isn’t the doctors appointment free?” Excuse me ? No it’s not! It’s almost comical at this point
They know it's not free, It gives a whole new meaning to freeloaders.
They get insurance for a month and when they can’t provide documentation to keep it they end up losing their insurance rightfully so

I am a native NYer. My family came as immigrants from Italy and Eastern Europe in the late 1890s and very early 1900s. LEGAL MIGRANTS with documents who registered at Ellis Island. They made their own way in NYC. earned their own money - LEGALLY - and paid their own way in Brooklyn and the Bronx. What is happening now is completely disgraceful and a blight on this country. The US Constitution has been abused six ways to Sunday with misinterpretations and total ignorance of the written words which have been twisted to suit the situation. The framers are sitting in their ethereal world with their heads in their hands. Migrants are allowed to take over personal properties without consequences, i.e., the man who found migrants living in his uncle's semi trailer.. It's ridiculous.
Well, back then, there weren't passports and strict border controls like today. Sure, they checked you for visible diseases at Ellis Island, but if you were a healthy looking European, you'd be let in.
Nowadays, the legal process to get in without family sponsorship is quite restrictive.
So the result is that talented, law-abiding people with decent options in their home country will stay or migrate to a country with points-based immigration like Canada or Australia.
Remember folks had to be "sponsored" either from a place of employment or relatives and it was alot of paperwork!
My family also came to America legally.

I don’t blame Governor Greg Abbott. I think he is doing a great job using a “decompressing strategy” concept coined by our NYC Mayor - that’s how Adams’ has called it 😂. The law states that asylum seekers can stay in the country until their case is heard in court. This has been the law for many years we’ve just not experienced the amount of displaced people like we are now. Yes feel like it’s a problem, I’m not happy with the influx, but the law has to be changed by congress. They are the legislative branch.

Asylum process should be initiated in the applicants native countries NOT at the borders, and should be strictly enforced. But what we’re seeing here is the Biden/Harris administration’s legacy and I’m just glad they’re on their way out as they’ve done more than enough damage to this country.

Are you talking existing immigration laws or how You would like it to be handled? Ellis Island was port of entry/application hub for most of our ancestors. To follow our existing Immigration Laws we should have more places to handle influx and backlogs of asylum seekers and be legally able to send them back.

The citizens of certain countries can apply for refugee status from their home countries, but I don't believe any of the countries in the Americas are part of that program thru the UN (which just uses the tax dollars the US pays to the organization as membership dues to fund the NGOs that are responsible for flooding us with migrants). As far as what is SUPPOSED to happen at the border if Biden were actually following the law as it stands today, is the credible fear interview for any asylum seekers who have just entered the country. After migrants are processed by Border Patrol, but before they are released into the country (which is also contrary to law, just Biden dgaf), they are supposed to have an informal interview with an asylum officer to determine whether or not the migrant might have the most basic qualifications for asylum. The bar for the interview is really low, so most people pass, but the 10-20% that can't even meet the baseline standards for asylum are sent home immediately. It may not seem like such a small percentage would make much of a difference, but it works out to 1-2 million fewer illegals in the country than we have now.

Same here. I went to every single one in my county and called dozens of them. Just to be told they can't help in anyway with back rent or a deposit. The local and gov. Organizations were no better since they're somehow ALWAYS out of funds...

Salvation Army won't even help Americans that are in dire need to pay their electric bills or get their water turned back on! No more donations from me😢
@@patkelch430 I think it depends on where you live and how many illegals are now there. I am in a town of 16,000 and so far we are not invaded and the Salvation Army helps many people here. I wouldn't have electricity if they didn't help me.

My parents lived in a shack in Canada when my Dad came back with Mom when he served in Holland!!! They lived in that shack for years with two girls and one on the way! Mom said many wonderful Immigrants lived in chicken coups! These invaders want it all now!😂!!! Immigrants worked their butts off to help citizens of every great Country to build the economy over many years! Now, taxpayers pay for these invading illegals and migrants so they can destroy what citizens worked so hard for and also to bring every Country to its knees and it’s happening! There are no words for the anger citizens are feeling!
This not fair to millions of American homeless families who are suffering in shelter system sometimes waiting years find an apartment as rent is unaffordable in NYC. Mayor ran on the promise to provide assistance to families who cant afford to the skyrocket rent but as instead encouraged the migrants with freebeeis while NYC taxpayers stuck with the bill. Mayor Adam making low income NYC resident who are not low income but for resident making 60,000- 100,000 a year. So anyone making less than 60,000 can continue to sleep on the train as anyone making less than 60,000 doesn't need to live anywhere. Make it make sense

Bloomberg initiated the housing vouchers for homeless in the shelters it was a failure, NY Times and Legal aid did reports on it. DeBlasio revamped the housing vouchers and it was also a failure. Adams increased building more affordable housing units that make lower income working class more eligible. Many are for higher income 50k earners but at least he made the effort. You'll complain about every mayor when it comes to homeless

I have to say that I do feel sorry for some of the elderly people in wheelchairs that are being brought over by their kids or spouse. This is what’s happening to some of the major hospitals in New York. They’re getting slammed with people with major illnesses. I have to pay my deductible I’ve had surgery I have to pay deductibles on my medication’s. I have to pay co-pay office calls. I am retired, but I still have a lot of out-of-pocket so some of these hospitals in New York they walk out without paying some of them are having the babies in the hospitals some of the babies require incubators. Some of the babies are required with special needs, who WHO IS PAYING FOR ALL THIS I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW I DO FEEL SORRY, FOR I UNDERSTAND SOME OF THE ELDERLY PEOPLE. SOME OF THEM HAVE LEUKEMIA, MAJOR CANCER PROBLEMS, DIABETES, BUT THEIR OWN COUNTRY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF Them. I have a family member that’s gonna have to file bankruptcy because of medical bills and ruin their credit but yet people can come over here and use all the medical resources and not pay a dime. One thing I’d like to add as well as they’re giving the hospital. Fake names.

The NYC judicial system must be insane if they have let the laws become 'relaxed' concerning crime. NYC needs a complete overhaul of the laws, budget spending, and immigration laws.
I am a senior citizen I am 72 and I still have to work to make ends meet. my job is okay and I do like it but what happens to me if I cannot work for some reason? I don't get paid if I don't work. What help do I get then? NONE!!!! social Security system makes it so hard to get any HELP and if you do get help it takes months! WHILE THESE MIGRANTS CAN JUST MARCH RIGHT IN THE US and get help right away. senior citizens need more support from our Government and our States. I am struggling many other Americans are struggling in this economy. How is this JUST???? Not Just!!

Immigrants from cultures with a strong emphasis on work ethics-like Scandinavia, East Asia, etc.-wait in line to become proud Americans. Others simply cut in line, expecting to be put up in luxury hotels without having to lift a finger. And which of the two groups does our government seem to want??? The latter. Go figure.=

I wish there were many more independent photo journalists/reporters who were not obligated to their mainstream media laws/policies. I also hope that the independent "press" has more of a presence on sites like Twitter, Facebook, TH-cam and TikTok. We need to see the truth.
