I don't know if you will be making anymore disturbing movie reviews but I always wanted to see you review Terry Gillian's " Tideland" been a long time fan would love to see what you think of it. Another recommendation of mine would be "The secret adventures of Tom Thumb" it's a claymation but fucked me up seeing it as a kid. Thanks bud for all the laughs and entertainment!

I saw a screening of this with a director q&a afterwards and someone brought up Ruth being unlikeable and Alice Lowe said she wanted her to be that way. She said her inspiration was Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver. It was a fascinating interview.

Interesting. Cool that you saw the show with a director's Q&A. I saw some video interviews online and she seems pretty cool, talking about how her own pregnancy inspired the story and what not.

She played the girlfriend in Ben Wheatley's 'Sightseers'. This is pretty much a natural progression for a good performer, in my opinion :)
I watched this on Shudder over here in the U.S., I found it as a pretty fun watch overall but I did get slight dissatisfied with the ending (especially after awhile realizing her motive to kill is weak since her relationship with the bb's father was close to done, and he didn't even know she was pregnant)

If you aren't already aware of the British series Garth Marenghi's Darkplace you should consider giving it a watch. Jam by Christopher Morris is also great if you like odd TV, which i'm thinking you do. Thanks for another great video.

If Jam has got cheese, it's very old and mouldy. I've not seen anything quite like it anywhere else, not to say it doesn't have a lot of influences but its fairly unique. The show Brass Eye is also by the same creator as Jam, it shares a lot of the same cast too. Give that a go if you Darkplace.
I've watched a few episodes some years back, not sure if I ever finished it... Maybe I'll just have to rewatch the whole thing again. Both Brass Eye and Jam are on my watchlist, they both seem quite interesting. Thanks for the tips!

Holy shit, Alice Lowe. I remember her from "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace". Very funny satire on low budget, paranormal TV shows. It had a lot of little nice touches.
Off topic, but have you ever talked about Heavenly Creatures? I'd love to hear your take on it. A certain scene in that movie stunned me as a child. Pretty much the only thing that ever has in a movie. I mean, I was like 11 or something.
I maaaaaay have talked about it very briefly many years ago when I reviewed Bad Taste. I believe I very briefly talk about all the pre-LOTR movies Peter Jackson directed. I haven't seen it since forever, but I remember being quite impressed by it. Also, I should rewatch Darkplace one day, I started it years ago but don't think I ever finished it.
The point was she chose to kill not because her unborn kid was ordering her but because she wanted to. And in the end she embraced her own insanity and continued. I give this movie points simply because of the audacity of pulling this off as director AND main character all while ACTUALLY pregnant. And getting it done in time before giving birth. Who does that?? And now her kid can say when she is a teenager, yeah I was in my moms horror film when I was born. And before I was born... The kid already has an IMDB page at 4 weeks old.

I watched this at a BFI Residential thing earlier this year and I’m so torn on if I liked it or not, I felt like the pet shop scene was such a strong start and I did like the way the story wasn’t so in your face and a slow burner. The music was amazing I think that made me more scared than what was actually happening on screen. I really didn’t like the ending, it seemed messy but saying it’s been a while since I last saw it and vaguely remember what actually happened I just felt a lil deflated coming out of the theatre :/// loved the review and this series has showed me a lot of horrors I’ve never heard and ones I’ve been meaning to watch for ages :)

I think I'll pass this one up. Doesn't seem very interesting to me. However, I did get to see an incredible movie last night called Brawl In Cell Block 99. It's the second movie from S. Craig Zahler. His previous movie Bone Tomahawk is in my top 10 favorite movies and this one is just as good. I really think you will like it and highly recommend it to anyone that likes intense and graphic movies. I can't wait to see what you think about it!
To each his own! And yeah, I've been hearing quite some positive reviews on that movie. Bone Tomahawk was excellent, so I'll be sure to check his new movie out as well. Sounds like he's becoming quite the director to keep our eyes on.

Dude, the people she kills were in her boyfriends climbing party. They decided to cut him loose to save themselves. That's kind of that over riding story you thought you were missing. Still, cool review man - cheers.

I was incredibly torn by this movie. Have no idea if I could say it was a good film or not. I enjoyed it, but something about it just didn't feel right? I don't know, but I can definitely say this was an interesting watch, and far from a poorly made film.
Prevenge definitely wants to be a more intelligent "slasher". I totally agree that those characters were surprisingly well crafted and memorable, but by the end the movie said absolutely nothing to me. A lot of the positive reviews suggest it has a unique insight into pregnancy but those ideas or only really hinted at, never fleshed out. Just left me really unsatisfied.
More or less my thoughts exactly. I saw this video interview with Alice Lowe where she did talk a bit about the fact that certain things during her pregnancy inspired the story, but like you say, nothing was really fleshed out or anything. Kind of a shame.

I was really disappointed with this as I really like Alice Lowe. It was just a bit forgettable with nothing to come back for.
Sightseers on the other hand is one of my favourite comedies. It's quite gory in places with very dark humour. I'd be very interested to see you review it actually, it's had one because I think it might be a bit lost on people outside the UK, as it is mainly about how boring the 2 characters are, wrapped up in their own little world, visiting really rubbish places (such as a Pencil Museum!). But I could be wrong.My hometown can be seen on a map at the start of the film, and we have been to one of the places in the film. We can agree that it is as shit as it is portrayed in the film!

Did you ever watch your Bloodsucking freaks DVD? That is one of my favorite b movie /low budget/ gore/ troma films. The best troma film.....and I'm not a troma fan, those movies are stupid as shit. But Bloodsucking freaks, and the first toxic avenger movie, are awesome!!
Haha yes I have. It was definitely a lot of fun, so over-the-top inappropriate. I'm also not the biggest Troma fan, but they did make/put out some gems here and there.
