  • What are the most important factors influencing the taste during roasting? What are the most important skills to become a good coffee roaster? How do I build up a green coffee assortment as a roaster? How do I develop a roasting profile for filter coffee or espresso? What is important when I want to set up a roastery? And what are the strengths of the Aillio Bullet?
    André Kirberg, two-time winner of the German Roasting Championships, answers these and more questions in this informative video.

    ▬ About the Aillio Bullet Roaster ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
    The Bullet R1 V2 is a state-of-the-art, powerful yet compact 1kg capacity coffee roaster.
    Unlike conventional electric roasters, the Bullet R1 V2 uses the principle of induction to heat the drum directly. The induction heating allows very fast and precise adjustments in the heating power as well as an efficient heat transfer for a fast and energy-efficient roasting of up to 1kg of coffee.
    Another innovation is the infrared sensor with which the Bullet R1 V2 measures the bean temperature without contact. This fast and precise roasting supports the development and execution of very accurate roasting profiles or roasts.
    With the Bullet, the heat transfer as well as the airflow and the drum speed can be easily and finely adjusted.
    The roaster can be operated with Artisan as well as with the very user-friendly RoasTime software specifically developed by Aillio and allows easy exchange of roasting profiles with other users.

    This was very informative to me as a new Bullet owner. Hearing how successful roasters approach their work is very helpful. Starting from cupping seems like great advice, but I also appreciate the specific ideas around temperature and development time. Thanks for the great content.

      I'm happy to hear, that the video helped. André has a very analyical and conscious approach to roasting profiles so there is a lot to learn from him.

    I use a fluid bed roaster, SR800 by Fresh Roast. It operates on a different principle, than the Bullet, but the information you presented in this podcast was very informative and helpful. Thank you!

      You are welcome! The most important aspects of coffee roasting are universal - then comes the machine and your roasting style.

    I acquired my bullet a month ago and have been making some side hustle business with selling specialty coffee beans. Not growing big, but I hope it will start to grow big later on.

      Great to hear! That's how most of the contemporary coffee brands you probably look up to have initially started. All the best wishes!

    I'm really interested in the Kaleido roasters and how something like the M6 compares to the Bullet. Love all your stuff 👍

    • @CoffeeRoasting
      @CoffeeRoasting  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      To my knowledge, there are some comparison already on TH-cam. I haven't been working with the Kaleido myself yet therefore in that setting currently I can only talk about the Aillio Bullet which is in my opinion a really fantastic machine not only when it comes to roast quality but also user interface, built quality, service, innovation,...

    Great content, thank you!
    What I don’t quite understand as home roaster: Why would I judge roasts by cupping instead of brewing the coffee? Unlike roasters I’m not trying to compare different green origins, and in the end I want the cofee to taste best with my target brewing method.

    • @CoffeeRoasting
      @CoffeeRoasting  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The cupping protocol is a widely used standard to take brewing / preparation out when evaluating / talking about greens. In addition to that, it is particularly simple to do it with a lot of samples and you can make a setup where many cups are being prepared the same and at about the same time. For home users, you are right, just use the preparation method you want to roast for.

    You said that you grind coarse for a cupping. Do you change your grind depending on whether it is a light, medium or dark roast ?

    • @CoffeeRoasting
      @CoffeeRoasting  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always roast to the same roasting degree for cuppings and therefore also use the same grind size as well.
