I am glad you guys enjoyed this. This is one of my favourite movie. Though it is too bad that you watched the Americanized version because the version you guys' watched has been cut down by 22 mins from the original! There is some missing context. Like the intro has missing prologue to show the relationship between the villain and Golden Leg. Some subtitles words are changed, some music has been changed to american music and the voice sound effects are fully dubbed over, very strange.

This movie just like Kung Fu Hustle deserve to be watched in both subs and dubs especially in English the VA's understood the assignment and play it up hardcore.

Even tho he has a TON of great older films, I'd recommend his two most recent films, "Journey To The West" and "The Mermaid." Even tho he doesn't act in them, the people he casts in it completely capture Chows spirit and charisma

There's a longer version of the movie, that shows some gore moments (like blood in the final match, lots of blood actually and on the scene when the main character threw the player who slide onto him the opponent actually kept holding the leg and the captain of the Team Evil kicked on the leg, that was cut as well), but also in the beginning the "Golden Leg" used to be vain himself. He took money for missing that penalty kick and used the guy who became the new coach of the team to tie his shoes in the same way the coach did to him later. And there's also a scene before the final game when the Coach of the Team Evil offers team Shaolin money for losing the game and that offer was declined on the terms that Team Shaolin believed that they could win the game. That's why Team Evil was so keen on just destroying the opposition.
Hong Kong cinema doesn't make movies like this anymore. The 70s, 80s, 90s were their heyday. Btw the goalie was the chief of the axe gang in King fu hustle 😂. The girl is beautiful, had a.crush on her growing up watching HK TV shows.

12:44 this scene right here is why he’s a comedic GENIUS that power montage is the perfect mix of this is dumb and this is badass and after all that build up and that monster kick he misses the shot in the most badass way.
The highlight of this movie is how Puma used this movie for their brand endorsement. Like even when the enemy goalie stops the ball the logo is pointed convenienly towards the viewer....or the fire kick attack by Steel Leg literally took form as a pounching Puma.

I would love to see what Stephen Chow could do with something like Deadpool, assuming he's still got it. Zhao Wei (bun lady) did great in the Chinese live action Mulan movie called Mulan: Rise of a Warrior (2009). It's available here on TH-cam.

I know quite a bit of Cantonese and this movie is super hilarious, it's such a shame that the subtitles are completely different from what they actually said and a lot of the jokes got taken out because of that. I'm not a native speaker but I do understand that even if it was translated accurately, it's not possible to fully get the jokes and humor without knowing the language as it's a very "witty" and "playful" language, but changing the lines to something entirely different is just unacceptable.
This was the worst reaction videos ever. They don't even react and fun part of the movie was missed all the reactions. I don't understand how they got 400k subs. Worst reactors so far
This movie has to be the best anime adaptation of a none existing anime.
